hpslash_rec

Last updated: May 12th, 2009

Type: Asylum ([info]hpslash_rec), maintained by [info]shadowess

Fandom: Harry Potter

Genres or Themes: It's for recommending your fave HP slash fics and art, but also offers the additional option of a challenge, by using prompt tables. You can also suggest prompts.

Navigation: uses tags (members are asked to tag their entries, see FAQ)

Misc. Info: There seem to be no content restrictions, safe for the slash angle. There's a post template listed on the profile page for both posting recs with or without a prompt.

stasha2g's Rec Journal

Last updated: Sep 3rd, 2008

Type: Personal journal ([info]stasha2g)

Fandom: Multifandom, though there's a focus on SGA/SG-1, House M.D., and Torchwood.

Genres or Themes: No information given. Recs consist of the basic facts (pairing, rating, length), a short fic summary, and a one-sentence commentary.

Navigation: uses tags (sorted by fandom)

Misc. Info: Friending policy: no restrictions. Also has a del.icio.us account, which is not fic-only, but it's better organized.

lotr_fic_recs

Last updated: Aug 15th, 2008

Type: Asylum ([info]lotr_fic_recs), maintained by [info]elanor_gardner and [info]sophinisba

Fandom: Lord of the Rings (Real People Fiction included)

Genres or Themes: The moderators post challenges with certain themes (for example a pairing or a character) where readers can reply with their recommendations, using the list of rec header components which is listed on the asylum's profile page. The challenges can vary wildly and also include things like bondage, lesser-known characters, or fic that made you a fan.

Navigation: uses tags (characters, themes, RPF/FPF)

Misc. Info: The main community is still located on LiveJournal, so the links to rec roundup posts point to LJ. However, the IJ asylum gets updated regularly and commenting is enabled -- participation on IJ is definitely encouraged.

FAQ

At the time being, only asylums and journals on IJ get listed. I might include other sites and del.icio.us accounts some day, but don't count on it.

The journals and asylums can be multifandom or fandom-specific, open for all or a personal community where only one or two users have posting access. They must focus on recs -- for example, a personal journal where recs are posted alongside with other content won't qualify.

If your recs feature certain themes -- e.g. you like to read and rec lots of crossovers / focus on femslash / include BDSM / ... -- it would be nice to explain it on your profile page or in the comment, so I can mention it in the index entry and tag accordingly. :)
