In one corner of the Great Hall, a wizarding band is set up to provide music. The ghosts of Hogwarts are floating amongst the crowd already gathered inside. At the doors, several professors and two of the Aurors are posted to prevent entry and perform searches on all those who enter. Students are informed of the Ball's special significance: all those who enter will be placed under a modified memory charm. All students will be wearing masks and will not be able to take them off at any time while they are in the Great Hall. Any identifying information - name, house, blood status - will be subject to the memory charm and if spoken, will be immediately forgotten by any listener(s). Any student who wishes to leave the ball early will have the spell removed as they exit the Hall and all their memories of the evening will be restored. The spell is in place to prevent the gathering of cliques or the ostracism of particular houses by the others. Persons who attend the ball together (as pre-arranged by them) will be allowed to remember who they are with, but will be subject to the Ball's rules in regards to everyone else. The Ball begins at midnight and will last until Sunday evening, or until the last person leaves the Great Hall. Please play via sub-threads. If your character has a date, you're welcome to privatize it (via the Title space...ex. Tamsin/Jeremy) if you don't want someone cutting in. If you're willing to have someone cut in and ask your character's date for a dance, then leave the Title space blank. That said, happy RPing!
