Somebody's Not in Kansas Anymore...[Oliver]
The air was cool, the hint of coppery tang in her mouth telling her that his punch had connected with it's target. She held her arms up, hands balled into fists as a slow grin pulled at Mia's lips. Her eyes left his face and flickered to the knife in his hands. She saw him step forward his arm in motion, but before he had the chance to jab the knife in her direction her foot shot out, the heel of her boot slamming into his shin.

Her grin widened, her body weaving as she sent a roundhouse kick to his arm and knocked the blade clear across the alley. She knew she shouldn't be out there antagonizing the criminal element of Metropolis, Oliver would most likely be furious if he knew, but he hadn't been around lately and Mia was bored.

"What's the matter? Nothing to say now that a girl is beating your ass?" She asked her tone bordering on cocky as he glared at her and charged in her direction. With practiced ease she lifted her arm and blocked his first two punches before lashing out with her right leg and catching him in the stomach.

She heard him grunt, but she didn't stop. Mia's fists flew out of their own accord, upper cut, jab, punch, until he slammed into the pile of garbage at the end of the alley. Her chest rose and fell heavily as adrenaline pumped through her veins. She was going to take care of this scumbag, zip-tie his ass to the dumpster and call the cops.

But in the process of stepping forward something happened. The brick walls shook around her and then the ground rumble. She stumbled back on the unsteady ground before some kind of energy poured through the alley knocking her into the air, her scream echoing through the night as the world went white.

---

Her body slammed into concrete, the shock of the hard surface beneath her startling her awake. She blinked and shifted, groaning as she lifted her hand to her side. She could feel something sticky and wet on her palm and she sighed.

Wonderful, when Oliver finally did make it back home from wherever the hell he was she was never going to hear the end of this one. She blinked, her vision clearing as it took in the dark night sky. She turned her head to the side and a shrill scream left her throat as she came face to face with a snake.

Her body jerked into a sitting position as she scooted away from the offending creature not realizing until she was several feet away that it was already dead. Her heartbeat slammed against her chest as she glanced around her surroundings confusion filling her.

Dead reptiles littered the streets...streets that didn't at all look like the Metropolis streets she'd just been on. Mia pushed herself onto her knees and then stood on shaky legs. "What the hell, where am I?"

After parting ways from Faith, Oliver was heading back toward the apartment complex when he caught sight of a young woman and winced as she literally slammed right into the hard pavement. A new arrival, he thought grimly as he quickly moved toward her to make sure she was all right.

"Hey there. Are you okay?" He didn't get too close to her, mostly because he didn't want to scare her.

Mia was in the process of brushing the dirt off of her pants, her eyes scanning the area when she heard someone call out to her. She turned and her eyes widened when she saw Oliver.

"Ollie!" She called relief in her voice as she moved towards him quickly dodging a few dead reptilians on the way. She wasn't big on affection typically, but she practically launched herself at him, enveloping him in a tight hug.

"Oh thank god, what the hell is going on? Where are we? And where the hell have you been?" She asked all the words rushing out at once as she stepped back from him and lifted a hand to her hip while frowning.

He wasn't sure what caught him more of guard; the fact that she knew his name, or the sudden fierce hug she gave him. He hesitantly hugged her back, then studied her when she pulled away. She was young--she couldn't have been more than fifteen or sixteen, tops. "Well, we're...in a different dimension," he said carefully. "I'm not exactly sure how, but I fell here a few weeks ago, so I guess that's where I've been."

Confusion filled her face. A different dimension? She didn't even think those existed. She took a minute and caught sight of Oliver studying her like he wasn't sure who she was.

Something wasn't right. "I was out... patrolling when I was sucked into this weird light and them, bam," she said slapping her hands together before motioning around them. "I was here." She studied his expression again, but it was no use she had no clue what was going through his head and that was unusual.

"Patrolling," he echoed, startled. But she was just a kid. Why was she out patrolling? Unless she had some kind of ability, which of course, was entirely possible. Especially if she apparently knew who he was. He was doing his best to piece together the puzzle in his mind and he cocked his head to look at her.

"Right, well, that part...is familiar," he said, watching her just as closely as she was watching him. "I'm sorry, you must be from a different point in time than I am when I arrived here."

That was pretty much obvious, she thought to herself even as disappointment crossed her face, though she tried to hide it. "Yeah, if my Oliver found out I was patrolling alone he probably wouldn't be too happy with me." She commented lightly as her chest tightened.

"So...when are you from?" She asked suddenly feeling awkward.

"It was late October, year 2009 when I got here," he said, chewing the inside of his cheek. "When did we meet?" He believed her, of course. He'd talked to enough people, including Dinah, who had confirmed that they were all arriving from different times and universes, for whatever reason. To help stop whatever apocalypse was apparently heading for this world.

"We met at the beginning of 2010," she said, figuring that was the best way to put it. Oliver told her he'd seen her fighting in that underground match. That was what made him go out and find her in the first place. She missed him, her Oliver.

She glanced around again and slipped her hands into the pockets of her ripped hoodie. "So exactly what universe are we in?"

"So not too far into my future. How did we meet?" he asked curiously. He prayed to all that was holy that he hadn't had some new kind of meltdown and hit on a teenage girl. He was relatively certain that wouldn't happen since he felt repulsed by the idea--no matter how pretty the girl. It just wasn't right.

"I don't really know what the universe is called. This town is called die Festung. It's where I've been staying since I got here."

That was a weird name for a town. "You helped me out of a bad situation and gave me a place to stay." she explained. She knew it wasn't the entire story, but she figured if they every got back to where they came from he would live through it.

Mia directed the conversation back to the present. She nodded towards the ground. "What's with the dead reptiles?" She asked curiously.

It definitely was a weird name for a town. "Oh." He nodded a little, glancing around at the reptiles. "You just missed out on a two week long rain of reptiles and amphibians," he admitted. He paused. "I don't know how much you know about our world, but uh, this one's...not exactly normal."

"Apparently there are zombie-like monsters in the woods outside the city. So don't go out there, okay?" He gazed at her, worry in his eyes. He may not know her, but he still didn't want to see her get hurt. "I guess if they bite you, you turn into one of them eventually. I know that sounds out there. But so does time-traveling to another dimension." He arched his eyebrows.

She blinked, "Zombies?" She asked her voice slightly higher than normal. "What is this some kind of B-flick horror movie?" She asked not sure why the thought of zombies freaked her out so much.

She swallowed hard and met his gaze taking note of the worry in them. "No woods, got it." She said lightly with a nod wondering how time travel was even possible. Mia shook the thoughts away and glanced back at Oliver. "Are there shelters? Places to live?" She asked.

He smirked a little. This wasn't the first time he'd dealt with zombies, but he did hope it turned out to be the last. "Yeah, zombies. I guess the correct name for them here is Netvors." He shrugged and nodded down the street.

"There's an apartment complex a few blocks that way. That's where all of the chosen stay here." He paused, glancing at her sideways. "That's what they call us here. The townspeople, I mean. They think we can help stop their world from going under." Which he wasn't convinced of, but he'd fight for this world the best he could for as long as he was there.

She pinched the bridge of her nose and sighed. "So you're telling me I've been sucked out of a world where my biggest problem this morning was how I was going to tell my version of you that I got a 'C' on my math quiz," she paused dramatically, "And dropped into a world that's literally on it's last legs?" This is what she got for complaining about being bored.

He raised his eyebrows at that, regarding her curiously again. "You thought I'd be mad over a 'C' on a math quiz?" He tried to imagine a version of him that would have been upset or angry about that, and he couldn't quite get his mind to that place. He shook his head a little, not missing her point. "But yeah. That's basically what I'm telling you."

She made a face, "More like what I did that made me get that 'C', but that's not really the point here," she added. "You said there are other people who came through into this universe? Are they like you?" She asked wondering if they were all heroes of some kind.

He reached up, rubbing the back of his neck. "Come on, I'll show you to the apartment complex. You can stay with me, if you want to." He paused. "Do you know Chloe or Lois? Or Clark?" He glanced at her sideways, raising his eyebrows.

"And I guess that depends on what you mean like me."

She could see that he seemed uncomfortable, or at least that what it looked like, she wasn't really sure how to read this version of Oliver. Her version was very much open with her. "Thanks, I don't want to intrude or anything though." She said, not wanting him to feel obligated to offer her a place to stay.

"I've heard you talk about Chloe a lot, but I've never met her. I'm pretty sure I met Lois once, dark hair? Kind of mouthy?" She asked while arching an eyebrow at him.

He couldn't help but grin at her description of Lois. "Yeah, that sounds like her, all right." He glanced at her sideways once more, amused. "And it's not an intrusion. I don't mind. As long as you don't mind filling in some of the blanks. And if it doesn't make you uncomfortable."

He walked alongside her down the sidewalk. "Well, there's something else about this world. People here think that we're fictional characters. Or that we were until we started showing up here, anyway."

She stopped walking for a minute, "I'm sorry did you say people think we're fictional characters?" She asked confused and disregarding everything else he said for a minute. "Why would they think that?"

She started walking beside him again and realized she hadn't answered his earlier question. "I meant are all the people who've come to this reality heroes." She explained, "I guess I can fill in some blanks, what did you want to know?"

"Yeah. I know it's a lot to wrap your brain around. I still haven't quite managed it." He raised his eyebrows, glancing at her when she stopped. When she started walking again, he did, too. "Apparently there are prophets or something in this universe, and they wrote comic books about us, and uh." He paused. "We're also from a TV show." It still sounded weird saying it aloud.

Well, that confirmed that. She must know he was Green Arrow if she was calling him a hero. "A lot of them are, yeah. There's a vampire slayer here, and..." He paused. Even though everyone in this dimension knew about their double identities, he still felt uneasy being the one to let the cat out of the bag, so to speak. "Some others that I work with, too." He scratched the back of his head and let his hand fall to his side.

"I guess I just want to know more about you. You said I helped you?"

It was definitely a lot to wrap her brain around. She was from a TV show? That was just strange. "Prophets, wow, that's just crazy weird." She said as she took in the information, not quite sure how to feel about it.

At least there were other heroes around, that was a good thing. "A vampire slayer?" She inquired slightly amused. "I used to watch a TV show like that when I was a little younger, when I had a chance anyway." She commented while glancing around their surroundings as they continued to walk.

She glanced at him and nodded at his last question. "Yeah, you helped me. I wasn't exactly living the most productive life when we met. You got me out of a bad situation." She explained

"Yeah? Was there a girl named Faith on it, by chance?" he asked curiously, glancing at her sideways. "Because she's one of the ones who's here." He knew if one of the people from one of his old favorite shows turned up, he was going to be excited. He supposed it was a real possibility.

He wondered what kind of situation she'd been in when his future self helped her out, but he wasn't sure she'd be comfortable if he asked, so he nodded a little. "So are you staying with me back home then?"

She tried to remember what the main girls name was as she shook her head. "I don't think so. The main girl had sort of a funny name I can't really remember it right now, but I remember thinking she was kind of badass," she said with a grin.

"Sort of," she said before shooting him a sideways glance. "I've still got quite a few enemies in Metropolis so we were actually talking about sending me to California." She bit her lower lip, "Okay maybe it was more like you were talking about it to someone on the phone and I was...Overhearing." She said with a sheepish grin.

Oliver cocked his head to the side, quirking an eyebrow. "Overhearing, huh?" He smirked a little at that. "You mean like, glass to the door, ear to the glass overhearing?" There was a hint of teasing in his voice. He was surprised that he was already fairly comfortable with this girl and he paused, realizing he didn't even know what her name was yet.

"Wow, I'm rude. I don't even know your name."

She blinked completely forgetting that she hadn't introduced herself. "Sorry, I think I'm the rude one. "Thanks I'm kind of partial to it." She teased starting to feel a little better. Not that she was happy to be in a world that was supposedly ending, but at least she wasn't alone again. "Hey, if eavesdropping is the only thing I'm doing that I probably shouldn't be, trust me you'll be happy," She joked.

She nodded, so none of them knew her. She guessed it wasn't that big of a deal. She didn't know Lois well and she'd never met Chloe in person. "Wow, seems like a lot of people from your time are here." She said lightly as they got closer to the building.

Strange was one word for it. She didn't even know it was possible to do this kind of thing. Whoever was tossing everyone into one big melting pot, must be pretty powerful and Mia wasn't looking forward to meeting that individual.

She stopped walking when they got to the front of the building. "I guess this is it?" She said not really meaning the place, but more this is where her life was at right now.

"Maybe," she said lightly, "Or maybe I'm the one who'll keep you safe."
