Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Who: The wonder twins (aka Roger and Zach)
What: Roger is dying! Okay, not really, he has a sinus infection, but still, he feels like death. Zach is going to make his bff feel better.
Where: Roger's flat.
When: Monday night
Rating/Status: PG for stupid drabble / Incomplete

Roger lay on his couch huddled under a mass of blankets which had cycled between thrown on the floor when he felt too warm then wrapped around him when he felt too cold. Between the hazes of sickness he felt troubled; why was Cho being so short with him? His mind raced over his brief interactions with her, analyzing every word; nothing seemed out of place with their last run in. Shrugging it off with a sigh and an eye roll, Roger decided to ponder the ridiculousness of a woman’s temperament after he was sure he wasn’t dying.

Managing to get up and walk to the bathroom had been far more difficult than any time he’d made this walk while hungover. He wished the world would just stay still. A quick washing of the face and brush of his teeth made him feel a little better, but only mere fractions of inches in the mile long road to recovery. Roger walked back to the couch and crawled under his mound of blankets, waiting for death to swoop down.

Zach got the soup prepared (it was quick and super easy!) and apparted over to Roger's flat. He sounded like a miserable little sod right now, so Zach figured he should take pity on him. If he was sick and being a pain in the butt, he knew Roger would come take care of him.

He let himself inside the flat. "Honey, I'm home!" he called out in a cheery voice. Just because Roger was miserable, didn't mean Zach had to be. He found the dark brunette in the living room, and Zach went in, and placed the steaming soup on the coffee table, and took the vial of pepper up potion out of his pocket.

"How are you, you handsome pile of blankets?"

The space under the blankets was comfortably warm from the excess body heat he was giving off, not to mention Roger had even dragged his favorite fluffy feather blanket out from the bedroom. After shoving Evan off of him for what felt like the millionth time the cat had settled on the space next to him while Roger drifted off to sleep. He wasn’t sure how long he’d slept, to his fever ridden body the brief respite felt like hours though it had only been fifteen or so minutes.

Zach’s entrance didn’t wake him, but it did get the attention of Kori, who meowed loudly and ran out from the kitchen, inquisitively sniffing the new occupant. The blond’s happy chirping voice awoke Roger with a start, retreated into the blankets leaving only a gap for a pair of bleary, bright blue eyes to peer out from. “I’m fine.” He said, sounding muffled, looking to the soup on the table then to the small vial in Zach’s hand. “Really, I’m not feeling so bad anymore, honestly.” Hey, it was worth a shot, right?

"Lies, said the pile of blankets," Zach said arching an eyebrow, as he was pretty sure he could identify Roger's eyes through the mass of blankets. Zach had been eyeing the cats carefully. Sometimes Zach just didn't do well with animals, but he tended to get along better with cats the most, so he didn't mind when Kori came to sniff him.

He then reached into his coat pocket, producing the bottle of fire-whiskey he'd brought along. Half gone, but oh well. Roger would only need a shot to take the pepper-up. Zach got up from the couch so he could go get a glass from the kitchen. "Just take your medicine boy. You'll feel better, promise," Zach said, emptying the vial and a shot of whiskey into the glass, before bringing it back to Roger in the living room. "So poke your head out, drink it down, and then you can have your soup."

The eyes narrowed into a glare. Part of him wanted to retreat further into the blankets and staunchly refuse to come out or drink that disgusting potion while the other half scolded him for being so childish. With a resigned groan he poked his head through the gap of the blankets, though he still remained wrapped up protectively in their warm embrace. “Fine.” He said, sounding more annoyed than he meant to. At least the whiskey would cover up the taste. Loosening the grip on the blankets Roger reached out to take the glass from Zach when he returned from the kitchen. “Cheers, then.”

It only took a small gulp, and to be honest it really didn’t taste as bad as he remembered, but Roger wouldn’t ever admit that. Grimacing, Roger placed the small glass next to his soup, feeling a rush of uncomfortable warmth. “What soup did you bring?”

Zacharias couldn't help but smirk at Roger actually trying to resist. But he was the Ravenclaw. Rationally he knew this would help him feel better, and in his condition he wasn't going to be getting away from him. So Zach waited till Roger finally peaked out from under the blankets, and took the shot of whiskey and pepper up potion.

"Good boy," he said taking his seat next to Roger on the blanket filled couch. "Chicken noodle. Apparently it's a miracle cure for Muggles," Zach said with a shrug. He'd put a heating charm on it to keep it warm for Roger. At least the hot broth and noodles would give Roger something to eat, and help clear his head.

Unfurling the blankets from around him, Roger felt the heat rising from under his thin white shirt. The Pepper-Up potion along with the fever was making him uncomfortably hot. Casting a glance towards the soup, he gave a chuckle. “Yeah, well, muggles think those stupid little pills help them get better when it does nothing.” Roger felt a bit foolish; why did he think some chemicals would cure his ailment? Sure, he put his trust in science, even rationalizing their magical abilities with science, but really, compared to the advancements of the wizarding world muggles were years behind.

His stomach groaned hungrily, but the idea of putting yet another warm liquid in his body wasn’t tempting at the moment. Instead Roger contented himself to lean against Zach, still feeling a bit dizzy and waiting for the inevitable steam to pour out of his ears. “I don’t know what has Cho so upset.” He said after a few moments of silence, tilting his face upward to look at his friend.

"You'd have to be more specific. There are a lot of stupid little pills," Zach said teasing, as he cuddled back against the couch. He heard Roger's stomach growl, but he didn't seem to be interested in the soup. He wrapped his arm around Roger's shoulder when he leaned against him instead.

"Shit, you're hot Roger," he said feeling how feverish he was. "And I don't mean by your attractiveness," he said with a smirk just to put a little humour in there too. He let out a sigh though when Roger mentioned Cho again. "I don't know Roger. Did you annoy her lately?" he asked a little impatiently. "Or maybe she's not really upset, you're just paranoid."

“Any of those stupid pills you get in muggle shops that claim to ‘get rid of your illness in twenty-four hours’.” He said with mocking disdain of the cold medicine’s broken promise. Pushing the blankets fully off of him, Roger adjusted the hem of his soft, off-grey jersey lounging pants and gave a bit of a cough. “This is utter shite.” As to what he considered 'utter shite' he didn’t specify, but instead grabbed Evan from the couch cushion he was currently occupying and pulled him into a lazy hug. The fluffy feline struggled for a few moments before resigning to his fate, craning his head around to look pitifully up at Zach. Normally Roger would have never made his precious cat do anything it didn’t want to do, but he wanted cat cuddles right now, damnit!

A small chuckle sounded, followed by a cough. “Don’t be coy, you’re clearly talking about how attractive I am.” A grin spread across his lips. “I’m so hot I’m burning myself up.” The grin faded, however, when they reached the subject of Cho. “…I don’t know what Cho thinks, Zach. I never know. Most girls are disappointingly predictable, and yet Cho… she’s always been a puzzle. Maybe that is why I’ve always wanted her; I clearly am mad and enjoy torturing myself. Ah—shit!” The Pepper-Up potion had clearly started its work as thick clouds of smoke began to unfurl from Roger’s ears.

"If you took them and actually believed it would work, maybe you'd feel better," Zach said reaching his hand up to brush through Roger's bed disheveled hair. It was amusing really, how needy and whiny Roger got when he was sick. Well, Zach was the exact same way, and he hoped to bloody hell Roger wasn't going to get him sick.

Zach laughed when Roger commented about how attractive he was. "Yes all that coughing, and puffy red eyes are dead sexy," he said patting Roger on the shoulder. He rolled his eyes, listening to Roger talk about Cho for like the millionth time. He moved away while Roger's ears started to smoke. Pepper-Up potion was annoying, but hopefully it would help Roger out. "Why don't you just tell her how you feel? Make a final ditch effort. If she says accepts, great you can find out what you've been missing. If doesn't, you can finally give up and get over it."

Roger lazily closed his eyes and relaxed further, loving the gentle play with his hair. “I’m far too smart for a feckin’ placebo effect, Zach.” The slack in his grip didn’t go unnoticed by Evan who wiggled free and ran off toward his sister who was lounging on the chair at the opposite end of the room. “Just wishing something to work just… won’t.” He finished rather lamely.

As the smoke began to pour out of his ears the vain side of Roger took over, clapping his hands over the sides of his head and looking annoyed. “I can’t.” was the distracted reply while sitting up and reaching for a blanket to bury himself under. “I can’t just tell Cho. She already knows. Our history is really complicated.” Sounding more annoyed than he meant to, Roger gave Zach an apologetic look. “Sorry, its just, we’ve been off and on so many times, you know? I fall for her, we get together, and then she just disappears. I’m twenty-seven and been chasing the same girl since I was fifteen. Part of me doesn’t want to let her go out of familiarity and yet, I don’t know, maybe you’re right. Maybe I need to see what else is out there.” Now sitting up fully Roger picked up the bowl of soup and brought it to him, stirring the contents thoughtfully. “Who knows, maybe there is a girl out there who will want me for more than just an object to make her look better.” He smiled, but unlike his skin it did not contain any warmth.
