when; Thursday afternoon
where; Lavender's place
what; Lavender wants to talk to him
status; Closed and In Progress

Marcus wasn't happy. Ever since he received that letter with his secret he was, well, in lack of a better word: scared. Yes, Marcus Flint was scared. He didn't want anyone to know his darkest secret, his weakness, because he wasn't supposed to have one. Not even his sisters knew about what he feared to become, for goodness sake! So having someone knowing, and then winning that bid and his secret, was making him edgy and scared.

Other that practice and the matches, Marcus hadn't been out much; and he honestly liked it that way, at least until he found out who had found out about his secret and who had bought it. Then he'd be able to go back to his normal life. But when Lavender said she wanted to meet, he found himself unable to say no. He liked being around her. She calmed him down and made him forget about whatever was worrying at that moment; which was perfect right now.

Instead of apparating, he decided to floo in; and in a matter of seconds he was in her living room. "Hello, Lavender," he said with a small smile that didn't reach his eyes when he saw her sitting on the couch.

Even though Lavender typically had a way of being a happy force in a world, that didn't mean she didn't have her flaws. One of them being nosy, the other hating to lose. The second someone wanted something badly she tended to want it more. That was how she ended up spending a chunk of her trust fund on Marcus Flint's secret. When she'd found it was his she felt horrible and confused and horrible. Adrian's secret wasn't really that... dark? Lavender wasn't sure what the right word was for, and she wasn't ever going to tell anyone about Adrian's secret she felt horrible about it... But not as bad as she did for Marcus. Marcus's secret was more difficult for her to talk. Part of her thought she could be the girl in it and it broke her heart thinking that was how she felt about it.

So, she decided with his secret she had to tell him in person. The two of them were so completely different but she was really starting to like Marcus, he was interesting, and something about him made her want to get to know him better all the time. So here she was sitting on her couch nervous as can be. In a pink sweatshirt and a pair of nearly hidden shorts, Lavender was curled up on her couch biting her thumb nail as she waited for Marcus to show up.

When she saw her fire light up and Marcus appear, his expression wasn't as well happy as she normally saw it around her, or at least not as interested. "Hey." She said unraveling herself from her curled up state. "How are you?" She asked getting up and making her way to him to kiss his cheek.

Marcus felt a small shiver sensation going down his spine when she kissed his cheek, making his body feel warm for a moment. He shrugged, "I've been better," he told her. For some reason, he couldn't quiet lie to Lavender. If she had been any other person - other than Chris or Antonia, that is -- he would've probably faked a smile and said he was doing fine; but he couldn't do that with Lavender. "You?"

Why did she feel like the second she told him she knew his secret that he'd get furious and run away? Well, maybe it was she who should be worried about becoming some dark and evil person, not him. Lavender gave him a slightly worried look as she nodded to the couch. It'd be more comfortable sitting down right?

"Why do you say that?" She asked before shrugging in answer to his question, yes Lavender had no idea how to answer his question.

Marcus gave her a small nod and walked to the couch, sitting down. "You know, stuff that has been going on lately." He didn't want to admit out loud how much the secret mess was affecting him. Even he if he might not be able to lie to Lavender, he couldn't admit something like that. It'd show his weakness and he couldn't afford that.

She frowned sort of and was about to offer him a drink when out of her lips fell. "I got your secret, I got competitive with all the bidding and well I went overboard and than I was wondering and than I just hate losing and I just kept bidding, I don't even know what came over me and I don't think you could turn evil like your father, I mean I never met your father but I have heard things about him from my parents and it's just... You're not like that. Yeah, you're all tough and stuff and don't like to be emotional, but that doesn't mean you'll turn out to be a bad guy or you'll drive someone away because that's something you get the decide for yourself not your family. I guess I just didn't want you to wander around wondering who knew about it, because that'd kill me! No one wanted my secret which is really good, even though it wasn't like it was that bad. I guess since I've seen your secret I should at least tell you what mine was. Mine was the one about worrying that no one would want me past just a fling, you know people think I'm not bright enough or whatever. Maybe my energy level gets to people and the whole, It's Lavender Brown thing." Lavender rambled on for a while feel like she was going to watch him storm out at any second.

"It's just, I don't think you should hide who you are or how you feel because of some fear, I shouldn't either and I'm not saying it's a walk in the park, but the guy I've seen. The guy I've spent time with, well he's a pretty cool guy. I mean the girl in yours is probably someone a lot more suitable to you than I am, but thing is, I think you deserve to be happy. Just because you had a father you don't want to be like doesn't mean you'll be like him. I think it's more likely that you'll be amazing to someone someday. I'm not saying there wont be up and downs and you wont be a jerk sometimes, but really? You're not perfect, I'm not perfect. No one is perfect and you deserve to be happy. That's all." Lavender bit her lower lip. It was the first time in a long time she'd ranted that much and her arms weren't flying around like crazy. Instead she held on the a strand of her hair with her left hand the whole time twirling it around, while her right hand stayed mostly at her side but her fingers moving like crazy. "I understand if you don't want to speak to me again and just want to go. Really, I do.

Marcus wasn't sure how to react when she started speaking. There was a lot of information to process and a lot of feelings and emotions going through his body -- emotions he did not want to be feeling at that moment, or any other moment for that matter. He felt vulnerable that someone knew his secret, but at the same time he felt what he thought was relief that it was Lavender who knew it and not someone else. He knew she wouldn't tell anyone. But still, she knew his secret and that made him a little bit uncomfortable. This was his deepest and darkest secret, something NO ONE else knew. It was something he had never talked about with anyone other than himself, and even then he tried to push the thoughts away and bury them as deep as his secret.

One thing he could not understand is how she thought no one would want him past a fling. She was an amazing young woman, beautiful inside and out, smart, funny. Any man would be lucky to have her... Just not him, because he didn't feel like he deserved her; and she didn't deserve the pain he'd cause her.

Marcus had been looking at her during the whole time, though she had been avoiding her eyes. He felt she'd read him so easily if he did that, and he felt vulnerable enough already. He looked down at his hands and breathed. "I don't know if to kiss you or punch the wall," he said with a small chuckle. He wasn't good at talking about feelings and all that stuff, particularly when it came to his feelings. It was a sign of weakness. Men didn't talk about their feelings; they just hid them and pretended they didn't exist. Or they punched a wall or someone else as a way to deal with them. But they never talked about them.

It was hard watching him, he looked nervous, if that was the right word, Lavender really wasn't sure if it was. All she really wanted to do was to take it all back, but than again she wanted to feel closer to him and she did feel close to him, knowing something she knew she wouldn't have probably ever known otherwise and that made her feel horrible about it. It was just that Marcus was sort of hard to get to know. The time she'd spent with him was amazing, but now? What was going to happen?

She waited for a response and actually giggled a little at the response. Well, the wall could be fixed, and she wasn't really sure why that would make him want to kiss her, but she liked that option a lot better. "I think you need to look me in the eyes to get your answer." She said reaching over with her right hand to his chin to bring it up to look at her. Oh yes, Lavender wanted him to kiss her, but she wanted it to be on his terms not hers. She was the one the invaded his privacy, she was the one in the wrong. Not him, he'd done not a single thing wrong.

It was hard to look at her. Not because he didn't want to but because he couldn't. He didn't want her to read him so easily, it wasn't supposed to be that way. He was supposed to be impenetrable, he shouldn't be letting people in like he was doing with Lavender -- though she was kind of pushing her way in too, which was what caught his attention in the first place, actually.

Marcus hesitantly looked into her eyes and he knew he had lost the battle of keeping a wall between him and her. "I will hurt you, Lavender," he said in an almost defeated tone. He'd cause her so much pain, he knew it. It was the darkness inside him and no matter what she said, he'd end up just like his father.

Serious wasn't her strongest suit and she knew the second she saw his eyes that he didn't believe he was going to be different. It broke her heart a little bit to see him like that, seeing anyone like that would hurt her. She knew the Flint family didn't have the happiest of upbringings but she also knew that people could rise above from where they were born. She'd seen it happen and she knew that if he wanted to be different from his father he could be. It was that simple for her.

Lavender moved the hand that had been on his chin to his cheek. "I don't believe that." She said simply trying to make it clear that she didn't think he would. "You're not your father. Do you think your father would even say that to someone?" She asked unsure of the answer but she had a feeling he probably wouldn't, otherwise why would he be so scared of ending up like him. She moved her other hand away from her hair and instead started to brush her fingers softly though his hair on his right side. Maybe something comforting was the right answer? Lavender didn't know.

Marcus leaned against her touch instinctively, which was strange because he wasn't a person who craved physical touch. But she felt nice and comforting, and he needed that right now.

She actually made a fair point. His father would've never said that to anyone. Or think that. His father never cared about anyone but himself; even when he acted like he cared just the tiniest bit about Marcus, it was all just so HE would look like a great father because he had a perfect pureblooded son. But Marcus was scared to have any kind of hope to not become his father, because what if he thought he'd never be like him but ended up becoming exactly like him? He couldn't bear the thought of hurting his sisters and Lavender.

He closed his eyes for a moment and breathed. He didn't know what to do. He was completely lost and scared, and he hated himself for feeling like that. He hated being this weak. It wasn't himself.

There was something in the way that he was acting that made her just want to take away all of his worry and pain and fear. She didn't think it was weak, actually she thought he was being remarkably brave. Lavender could tell this wasn't easy for him. His expression alone, his voice, the way he moved towards her touch. Clearly there was a lot he was dealing with and all she wanted to do was to help him. To make it all be okay.

In a rare moment, Lavender didn't know what to say. She looked at him and just wasn't sure what to say to him. She felt like she should say something. Lavender really wanted to say something but she wasn't sure what to say. He was so convinced that he'd hurt her and she wasn't sure how to make him understand that she really didn't think he would. Maybe things wouldn't work, but she didn't think it'd end because he turned into his father. She thought it'd end because he'd get bored with her or they were just too different. That was where Lavender thought things were.

She bit her lower lip and looked into his eyes, her own serious. "Listen, listen carefully. You are not your father, don't even think about telling me you are or you'll end up like him. Because you want. You're stronger than that, you admit you don't want to be like him, so you don't agree with the way he is. If you don't agree with it, you wont end up that way. It's as simple as that. It really is. I don't think you'll hurt me. I don't think you give yourself enough credit for who you've become." She said at almost a whisper.

"So what do you want Marcus?" She asked, her voice still just above a whisper.

Marcus was stubborn, stubborn as Hell, and he wasn't going to stop thinking he would end up like his father. But maybe today, for whatever time he'd be with Lavender, he could have some hope and believe he would be a different man, a better man, than his father. She seemed very convinced about it, and he didn't think she would like to him about something like that. So for a moment, Marcus let her in and allowed himself to be happy.

His hands, which had been on his lap this whole time, framed her face gently. He looked at her, studied her face for a second or two as he brushed his thumb against her soft skin. He didn't speak just yet. Instead, he leaned in and very gently pressed his lips against hers in a kiss.

It was so hard watching him, she wanted to know what he was thinking, she wanted to know how he was feeling. The amount of questions and wondering of where they were and what they were doing was driving her completely insane. She knew better than to ask the millions of questions in her head. The one that mattered was what he wanted. That was the question that was going to answer enough. Of course that wasn't totally true, but that was the one she needed answer for.

She watched him so carefully, every single spot in his eyes. She smiled softly when she felt him reach up and actually touch her. She'd been worried about his hands just sitting their on his lap without a second thought of reaching up. She leaned into his kiss as she moved very slowly so her legs could rest easily over his lap, his hands weren't going to go back to hiding in his lap. That was one thing Lavender was positive of.

Marcus let himself get lost in the kiss. He didn't allow himself to think about anything else but the kiss and how calm and comfortable he was feeling with her -- and he was good at pushing thoughts and emotions far far away, so he could do that.

He didn't deepen the kiss too much as he felt there was no need to in this situation. He wanted to show her he wanted her since he wasn't good with words -- even though saying 'I want you' wasn't something incredibly difficult to say, but it sounded like something out of those romantic novels some women like to read and he was like that. But he wanted to take this slow, this wasn't a fling or anything like that. He wasn't sure what it was, but he knew it was something where he wanted to get to know her.

There were moments that Lavender would daydream about and this right here was very similar to a moment she'd daydream about. She knew it was silly, but she also thought some of those romance books and stories had to have started somewhere. She didn't think everything would be perfect the way she had when she was younger, but Marcus was there and he was making her really happy with how simple things were. Lavender was used to something a little more wild, and he wasn't wild, he felt real. He felt like he didn't just want her for a few weeks, whatever it was he wanted she wasn't really sure, but it was a ride she was willing to go on.

It took her a while for her to pull away because it felt really nice just sitting there with him kissing. "Okay." She said with a smile. That was enough right? That was enough for an answer, or response or something. She didn't know.

Her response made him smile and chuckle softly. There wasn't much they could say, as he was pretty sure they had said everything with the kiss. "Okay," he said with a small chuckle, pressing one last kiss to her lips before pulling back.

He moved his hands back to his lap but found it was being blocked by her legs. He arched an eyebrow at her. "I just kissed you and you're already asking for a massage?" he joked.

Laughing she dropped her head on his shoulder as she laughed for a few more seconds. As she lifted her head back up and looked over at him and down to her bare legs she mentally thought maybe she should go with more clothing sometime. "Maybe my legs just got cold and you happen to be a lot warmer than I am." She responded.

With a very silly expression she added. "But you know, a massage is always a good way to win a girl over. It's better than chocolate or flowers." Lavender added with a nod. Yes, Lavender did believe that.

Marcus couldn't help but laugh with her. Her laugh was pretty contagious. "Right," he said in a teasing tone, chuckling. He didn't mind the lack of clothing down her legs. He liked the way her soft skin felt against his calloused hand.

"Win a girl over? Didn't I just do that with that kiss?" he asked with a smirk, which turned into a grin in a matter of seconds. It was almost impossible not to smile around her.

"It takes more than just a kiss to win me over." Lavender teased leaning forward with a very playful kiss. Even though everything had been really serious before hand, and the conversation wasn't easy or anything... Now it felt like things were good, that it would all be okay. He wasn't running away, didn't hate here, seemed like this was the start of something. Whatever that start was, Lavender didn't really know but she was looking forward to finding out.
