Cordelia followed the crowd into the Great Hall. Classes were finished for the day and everyone was anxious to find their friends. The first week of school was nearly done and Cordelia hadn't seen any signs that this year was going to be any better than her previous years. The teachers were different but the droning on about things that she didn't want to hear was the same. Even though she ignored her teachers, Cordelia did fine in her classes. She always made sure to review the text before a test or anything grade worthy and her common sense carried her through. Part of her had romanticized this year over the summer, and had hoped for this to be a very exciting year. Unfortunately, her lack of social charm seems to have ruined that for her long ago.
Mindlessly scooping fruit onto her plate Cordelia began to eavesdrop on a conversation behind her.

Plot

General:
In 2008 it has been ten years since the battle at Hogwarts and there is a whole new group at Hogwarts. Minerva McGonagall is headmistress, Aurora Sinistra is head of Gryffindor house, Pomona Sprout is still head of Hufflepuff house, Filius Flitwick is head of Ravenclaw, and Horace Slughorn is head of Slytherin house.
