Poll: Season Openers
Having polled on your feelings about the season finale songs, now I want to see how you feel about the songs that got it all started... the season opener songs!

After you take the poll, there's a bonus question that you need to answer in the comments section....

Poll #3057 Season openers

Bonus question for the comment section: Which song in all of Season Five -- you can review them here -- most expresses the feel of the overall season for you? And does it have that effect because of the lyrics, the feeling of the music, an association with the scene it's in, something else, or a combination of factors?

I might want to post a different one later... I'm fickle... but for now I'm going to pick "You Are My Sunshine" by Stine J.

It's full of the love that Brian cannot/will not express... but still full of the love. It's painful but beautiful, sad but with a kind of joy... very S5.

The season opening song that is my personal favorite, regardless of its dramatic impact on the show:

The main reason I chose "Kiss Today Goodbye" over the others from Seasons 1-4 is that the other three all have huge chunks of many minutes of repetitive, boring, instrumental-only sections I could live without even though I like the parts chosen for the show.

As for the Bonus Question, I can't really answer because I don't think there is a single "feel of the overall season for [me]."

Bonus question is easy - Cyndi Lauper, Shine, just because of everything that happens in the episode and how the plot centers around Babylon and that event.

Oh shoot, that one shot right into my mind, and I'd also have to say Ambition by the Doves, duh. Because that goodbye scene in the end is one of the most beautifully shot and emotional scenes I've seen in any show/movie.

For the bonus question is difficult to answer. I honestly don't think I could narrow it down to one song so I'm going to say it's a tie between 'Ambition' by the Doves, because it sounds so haunting and emotional in the scene, 'Proud 2005' by Heather Small because it has the most overarching meaning for all the characters and 'You Are My Sunshine' by Stein J. for the reasons Xie has already said :D

I didn't do the poll, cause I didn't really like any of the season openers. I'll have to listen again, but...yeah.

Season Five...that's easy. Genius And Thieves. Season five always felt melancholy to me, contemplative and retrospective. That piece evokes an overall sadness to me, but at the same time, there's a hint of hope in it, like a light coming on in a dark window.

Okay, that's maudlin, even for me.
