*Marathons Gone Wild, episode 513*

Thank you, [info]qafmaniac for the banner and icons for MGW!!

This is it...the final episode of the best TV series ever. It's been really fun doing so many episodes with you guys...thank you for making me laugh, and holding my hand and sharing your opinions and even changing mine a few times. It was tough sometimes, but it was great to share it with people I love.

Ready for the end?

Here we go...

Opening scene...
[info]noteverything
2009-08-05 06:56 pm UTC (link)
The use of "Sleep" here again always kicks off the nostalgia for me.

And then...to such a wonderful scene between Justin and Brian.

Brian telling Justin he's beautiful is just about as wonderful as him saying, "I love you."

The gym
[info]noteverything

Do they always go to the same gym? Sometimes it seems really different to me.

It really is pathetic that Tad has such a hold on Ted already. :-(

That explains why I find that ad campaign hilarious, I'm sure.

That woman is probably my age, but she seems so damned old and uptight. I will die if I ever get like that.

Little Puppet Michael
[info]noteverything
2009-08-05 07:04 pm UTC (link)
Showing that gay people are just people is an admirable idea, but I find it sad that they just want Michael to be a puppet for the cause. She doesn't even really *try* to make it seem like they want him for any reason except that he's "moldable."

Kinney's Last Stand
[info]noteverything
2009-08-05 07:09 pm UTC (link)
I won't lie. Not a scene I look forward to...

I do adore Em saying he's jealous because Tad has Ted. So precious. Then the asswipe has to go and act all...ass-wipey.

The speeches are ridiculous...I know they're supposed to be witty and adorable, but they just aren't to me.

Before I say anything about it, I want to hear how you feel about Brian not taking advantage of his "gift."

Also, if it's a stag party, why isn't it a party for Justin *AND* Brian? Aren't they both single men? Who planned this thing?

*you finally grew a heart*
[info]noteverything
2009-08-05 07:12 pm UTC (link)
Brian: Maybe you'll have the same luck growing a penis. ha!

Oh Gus, you precious child. I always think during this scene that Brian *has* followed through on his promise to spend more time with Gus. They don't interact like two people who only see each other every once in a while...

And here again we hear that Justin is sacrificing "so much" for Brian. NO HE'S NOT! I don't buy that and I just never think I will.

Ted and Emmett at the diner
[info]noteverything
2009-08-05 07:14 pm UTC (link)
Emmett: Shake?

Teddy: *shakes*

omg, dies from the adorableness

And there's Ted, in another one of those top-stitched shirts...those seem to have been all the rage at the end of S5. Michael, Ted and Brian have all worn them.

It's always all about the spin. Ugh.

But thank you Michael Novotny.

"Actually, that's not the truth...in many ways, my life is nothing like yours. Why should it be?"

And that's really the crux of the whole matter when you get down to it.

*hugs Michael*

*cooking, gardening, sitting in front of the fire?*
[info]noteverything
2009-08-05 07:28 pm UTC (link)
Brian: Well, that gives a new meaning to U.S. Open.

Brian: I'm just trying to make you happy.
Justin: I want you to do what makes you happy, not me. (not what he's been saying for months now, but ok)

Brian: I don't want to live with someone who sacrificed their life and called it love, to be with me.
Justin: Neither do I.

This is one of the worst scenes ever. Not only do they really not make a hell of a lot of sense, they use that ridiculous SACRIFICE word again.

Here's the thing: They both love each other. They each want the other to be happy. What is the big fucking deal?

North...to Canada
[info]noteverything
2009-08-05 07:41 pm UTC (link)
No Justin. I've never tried to figure out exactly why Justin isn't here, but it is sort of odd. He'd already said his goodbyes when he brought the painting by, so perhaps he was busy with his own plans to get out of Pittsburgh.

Brian saying "goodbye, son" and kissing Gus on the forehead. I have no words...

And here Tweedy exposes herself again as a horrible hostess...
[info]noteverything
2009-08-05 07:46 pm UTC (link)
I can't get too deep here. I can't explain to you why Brian says it's only time. I can't say why they're even doing *ANY* of this.

But they are and I *can* say that Brian not returning those rings says a whole fuckload more than "it's only time" ever will. Justin knows that, and Brian knows it TOO.

And the rest from the kissing to the image of Brian alone is beautiful and I'd rather enjoy it than talk about it.

The Brian and Mikey show lives on
[info]noteverything
2009-08-05 08:01 pm UTC (link)
I am going to *attempt* to say why I don't mind the end of Queer as Folk now. Wish me luck..

In Brian's mind, he's doing *exactly* what he feels that he should. Justin wants to be in New York, Brian is doing absolutely nothing to stand in his way because that's what JUSTIN wanted.

But he's already *changed,* being "Brian Kinney for fucks' sake" isn't who he wants to be anymore. So, he's home, not out. It's not a bad thing...it's just how it is.

Despite his reluctance, Mikey convinces him to go out, because he's finally realized that he can have his family *and* some fun occasionally and the thumpa-thumpa continues.

Brian's life goes on, and for the time being, it's continuing alone. Justin wanted it that way and Brian was willing to let that happen. I don't think for a moment he's going to get down off that platform and head to the backroom for a blowjob. Because yeah, some things never change, but others do.

(And someone, [info]not_yet_defined, I think, once said that Brian was buying a plane ticket to New York when Michael comes over and I always *loved* that thought. It makes me very happy.)
