The "funeral"
[info]noteverything
2009-08-04 01:18 pm UTC (link)
I *definitely* remember thinking Michael was dead at the beginning of this...

but it was all just a dream.

And a bomb...

Man, how mind-boggling it *STILL* is to me that someone would try to *kill* people just because they hate you. Even though I know it happens all the time, I'm still beyond floored every single time.

Ted's guilt just guts me too. ((((((Teddy)))))

I don't understand part of this conversation...Deb says something about waiting, "maybe some of us aren't so good at that" ??

Then Em says, "Some of us have, others not so much."

Huh? I obviously didn't hear something correctly.

But I can't disagree with Deb: The whole world's gone crazy.

It's totally good to hear good news about Michael.

And Brian's final comment: Better listen to what she says...God did."

*loves*

WHAT does Mel say when she spits over her shoulder?

I *swear* it sounds like, "I don't wanna put a can of whote on it." to me. But I'm not Jewish and I suspect that's totally not it.

And doesn't Gus sound so precious? I love him.

Then, Dusty. That makes me cry every single time.

Brian cleans up NICELY. I just don't have enough superlatives for how much I like the way he looks. And his demeanor is subdued, which I just find so...ugh, I can't figure out a way to describe how I feel about him in this episode.

And poor Teddy. *meep* (I wonder how many times I've said "poor Teddy" since I found fandom.)

It may not be the country manor of my dreams...
[info]noteverything
2009-08-04 01:37 pm UTC (link)
I've read meta about this scene endlessly and I am not going to go into that.

I *do* think that proposing is abrupt and probably a little premature, but I do think that after the huge shock they all just lived through, that Brian and Justin *both* really mean what they're saying to each other. I don't think one is right and the other is wrong,

The way Brian keeps looking at Justin even after he says no is lovely. I can just *see* the wheels turning.

There go those wheels again. I *know* I'm looking at this from the standpoint of already knowing what's happened, but I can just see Brian getting rid of what stands in his way to happiness with Justin.

And he makes a really good point about dancing to the memory of bombs and corpses. I think about that every time we see them dancing in 513. *shivers*

I just have to get this out of the way. Ted's trick looks like Phil Collins and those two do *not* make an attractive couple.

Drew's speech is lovely. And it pleases me that there are so many people there.

And then it all goes to fuck. "Fags deserve to die." No, no, no.

I hate so much for poor Ben to have to hear that and to have a reaction that makes him feel so badly. But, I don't think anyone can fault him for it at all. Even Carl stepped back and let him go...

He might not be attractive, but I'm so glad he helped Ted.

Brian: Does this mean I can't call you Zen Ben anymore?

Melanie and Lindsay discuss leaving...
[info]noteverything
2009-08-04 02:05 pm UTC (link)
I don't think I've ever decided how I feel about them leaving.

They've obviously been leading Mel up to it ever since they first mentioned Prop 14. I suppose in a lot of ways, I understand the alarmist attitude, because if something like that had happened to me, when my babies were little, I've have been just as scared.

But they aren't *just* Mel and Lindsay, their children have other parents and that makes a difference in just picking up and leaving in my mind. I have always sworn that if BK and I were divorced, I'd have to be near him still for the sake of the kids.

So I'm conflicted.

I won't even pretend to be sensible or provocative now.

I LOVE THIS PROPOSAL probably as much as I love anything about Queer as Folk.

I love what Brian is wearing, the lining of his coat is so cool and I want it.

I love the dialogue.

"I am as fervently and passionately committed..."

"I would give him anything, I would do anything, I would be anything to make him happy."

And Justin, trying so hard to comprehend it all. Precious...

"I've never meant anything more."
His face, omg, that look. *dies*

Justin: OK.
And his face, omg, so sweet. *dies*

I won't quote the whole thing, but I want to so much!!

And I think that first kiss after Justin says yes is the most beautiful thing I've ever seen.

Excuse me now while I finish melting into a huge puddle of Tweedy goo.

FINAL THOUGHTS
[info]noteverything
2009-08-04 02:23 pm UTC (link)
I love this episode. That's really about all I can offer for this one.

It's good to see things start to improve for almost everyone...Michael will be ok, Hunter comes home, Emmett begins to recover, Ted lets go of his guilt and BRIAN PROPOSES AND JUSTIN SAYS YES!

Admittedly, everything about this episode is colored by that proposal and it *IS* the reason I love this episode, but honestly, all in all, it's really good and it's nice to feel that hope after so much loss and death in 510.

(there is the little matter of the lesbians packing it in, but we can address that more later. maybe. ;-))

Thanks so much for joining us! I'm *so* behind on commenting on almost all the episodes we've watched now, but I'm trying! Hopefully I'll get around to more discussion soon.

Expect no comprehensible responsive comments either!!!!

I LOVE EVERYTHING!!!!

I love when they roll up to Britin!!!

When Brian starts listing off all of Justin's "requirements" in a country manor!!! *dies*!!! And, word for word, quotes Justin!

I die over how Justin is physically taken aback when Brian tells him his "one good reason"!!!! SQUEEEEEE!!!!!!

FOR MY PRINCE!!! And the slightly abashed, but OH SO serious look!!!

"Say it" guhguhguhguhguh

And Justin's first true sunshine smile for Brian in a long, long time!!!!

The only thing I would change is that this episode would go on for like two more hours with them at Britin!!!

*Completely melted with you*

Loves so completely!
