The city was a nightmare in the summer. As the temperature rose, tempers frayed, everyone was irritable and in a hurry to get somewhere, anywhere.
The sidewalks, the buildings, the windows seemed to magnify the heat, throwing back with blinding intensity, and it wasn’t even noon yet.
Justin walked back to his apartment and questioned his own sanity for leaving it. Then he felt the heat seeping into his hand from the cups he carried, and he smiled.
There was only one reason he’d drag himself out in this heat for overpriced lattes, and Brian would be waking up soon.
