A light smack on his butt roused Justin from his deep slumber and he mumbled a feeble complaint.

“Rise and shine, sonny boy, it’s a new year. You better get used to getting up early now.”

His next complaint was cut short by a gentle bite into his left butt cheek.

They met Daphne at the breakfast table, both greeting her with kisses on her smiling face.

“Shoveling down huge amounts of food again?” Brian teased her.

“Happy New Year, Daphne,” Justin beamed at his best friend.

“Happy New Year! This will be the most exciting year of our lives.”
