*Challenge #144: Four words
Title: L'altra Notte in Fondo al Mare
Notes: Thank you to [info]vl_redreign for the beta! Four words: burn, rug, glass, ease
And the condom goes to: Daphne Chanders

Ted lay holding a glass gingerly on his chest as Emmett banged around the kitchen. The rug was practically his new home, even though his back was better. He liked to relax there after visiting Dr. Mark, letting the high ease through him, aided by a stiff drink.

Emmett rambled on; something about how he’d almost burned his cheese tartlets while he was on the phone with Vic. He never paused to see if Ted was really paying attention.

Ted felt a twinge of guilt, but it passed quickly. He took another sip of his drink and drifted away again.

Oooh. Wonderfully done. (And you didn't even include a glass dildo! LOL.)

This icon is way too happy for this, but it's the only one I have of these two...

You have one more Ted/Em icon than I do!

I tried to avoid the glass dildo for my drabbles this week...hopefully Justin will be glad for a bit of a break!

Thank you for always reading and commenting on my drabbles...it's much appreciated.

As I told you, I love S3 Ted. Of all the people to fall apart, he was a perfect candidate. So high strung, it was bound to happen. Beautiful drabble, my dear.

It's heartbreaking, but it also led to some of the most compelling scenes ever. Thank you!

Thank you! It seems next to impossible to come up with anything unexpected anymore, so I'm thrilled that it worked!

I watched this arc recently and you captured the beginning of Ted's downward spiral perfectly. So sad :(

Thank you! It's definitely sad, but it made for some great drama, didn't it?

You've captured exactly what Ted must have been going through. I often find it hard to like Ted in this arc, but you bring out my empathy for him here. There's so much storytelling in this 100 words.

I'm glad I could bring some empathy to Teddy for you. I really feel for him throughout this arc.

I'm so curious about your choice of title? Did Ted used to listen to this aria in QaF? I googled it and I listened to it, a version by Maria Callas, while reading and it fits perfectly the mood of your drabble. It almost made me cry, that arc is so intense and poignant, so much hurt and pain between those two despite having been such loving friends before.

Loved this!! ♥

Thank you!

Sorry it took me so long to answer...

Actually, I was going to use Drift Away as the title, but it seemed sort of trite, so I translated Drift Away to Italian, since Ted loves opera. I didn't like the way that looked. Then I googled Drifting Away (the song) and found that "L'altra Notte in Fondo al Mare" was used as the intro for a version of the song by Faithless, so I translated that to English and it was "the other night at the bottom of the sea," and I thought that was *totally* perfect, so I used it.

That's probably WAY more than you wanted to know!

Just a little snippet of time, but you've presented it so richly here. Wonderfully done!

Loved getting to see this snippet of time from Ted's perspective! It's hard to read, but you created a powerful picture of Ted's fall.

Wonderful!
