Challenge #136: Emmett
Title: The Bed
Notes: This drabble series is an addition to the fic I wrote for the Moving Prompt on [info]qaf_prompts. [info]simplystars, [info]michira_70, and [info]qafmaniac all wanted to see Emmett putting together the bed for Brian and Justin; this is for them. The fic can be found here. A giant thank you goes to my wonderful beta, [info]ahaw9913
And the Condom goes to... 5 to Daphne

My phone was ringing: “Brian, what do you need?”

“Emmett, my friend. How is Pittsburgh’s most fabulous planner?”

“What do you want?”

“What makes you think I want anything?”

“You only ask how I’m doing when you need me to do something for you, so what is it?”

He took a deep breath, “I need you to help me assemble my bed.”

“What makes you think that I can put a bed together?”

“Remember that road trip? You changed the flat. I think you can assemble a bed, and keep it a secret.”

“Alright, when do you want me there?”

***

I arrived at Brian’s castle in my most fabulous construction outfit, cargo pants and an orange plaid flannel shirt, with my rhinestone studded tool belt with coordinating pink tools. Who says pink tools are just for girls?

Brian looked at me and said, “I need to be stoned for this,” he turned around and walked out leaving me standing in the grand foyer. When he returned carrying a lit joint, he offered me some but, knowing that the altar of the great Brian Kinney was in my hands, I declined. He shrugged and led the way into his inner sanctum.

***

The bedroom looked like it had been hit by a hurricane. There were parts everywhere. I had to ask, “Brian, what did you do to it?”

“I dumped it out of the giant box.”

“Right. OK. I need you to pick up all the packaging while I get everything organized again. Where are the directions?”

He handed me a crumpled up piece of paper and picked up all the packaging and threw it away.

“Where are the baggies with the nuts in them?”

He laughed and handed me a pile of bags; it was going to be a long day.

***

“Are you just going to stand there and watch me or can you help me attach the headboard to the frame?”

“Are you sure you really need me to help you? I’m wearing the new Armani fall line.”

“Well, I can’t hold them together and tighten the bolt at the same time.” I chided as he walked over and took my place holding the headboard up to the frame. I tightened all the bolts and finally, after 5 hours, the bed was together.

“Let’s put the mattress on,” Brian said, walking over to a giant bed by the bay window.

***

The headboard was black with three sections of laddered bars with about a foot in between them. The footboard mirrored the pattern of the headboard, just shorter. It looked sophisticated. But upon closer inspection I could see why Brian was so fond of it; it was perfect for tying someone up. There were lots of options, and yet it looked completely inconspicuous.

Brian had bought dark blue sheets to go under a charcoal duvet and slate pillows. It was the perfect combination of sex with style.

“Wow,” I muttered.

“Thanks,” he said, “don’t tell Justin; I want to surprise him.”

Note: If you would like to see the bed this was modeled after, it can be found here!

As I comment Tweak is saying; he may just love that kid.

Canon! Yes Em can assemble stuff! $20 Brian will like that bed until his feet are getting stuck in the bottom. Trust me. I had a bed like that once. They are not made for tall people.

But I do expect to see this tied up!Justin fic, y/y.

This was great at incorporating Em into Brian's life without it being OTT. I like Brian and Emmett's friendship. They both get a clear read on each other.

I am really glad you liked it. It felt like one of those places where Em and Brian totally get along.

I do expect to see this tied up!Justin fic
Most definitely! I'll see if I can work it in to one of the challenge fics I'm writing right now...

This is so Emmett. Everything about it. The clothes. The attempt at putting something together. His seriousness about Brian's bed.

I really liked it.

Thank you! I think Brian/Emmett is such a great friendship, even if Emmett does "feel ambivalent" about him...
