How did it all get so fucking hard again? Brian's thoughts drift as America's heartland rushes past in a soggy blur.
It was supposed to be easy after the Liberty Ride. I'd ask him to move in, he'd jump at the chance, and be completely “emotionally fulfilled” without too much effort on my part.
But instead, Justin is in LA. As he should be. But for how long? Forever? And what the fuck am I doing? Riding across the country, to do what? Propose? Say goodbye? Fucking torture myself?
The damp asphalt stretches onward bringing no answers, only more questions.
