Justin pushed open the door of Brian’s office at Kinnetik.
Everything looked the same. Ted and Cynthia had done a good job of keeping business running as usual.
But the place had lost something; not just a presence but its complete soul.
His eyes moved to the desk; laid bare of papers; just a bowl of green apples sitting in one corner.
He walked towards it, his step faltering the closer he got.
He reached out, tentatively picking up the shiniest of the bunch, a smile fleetingly crossing his face, before grabbing the bowl and hurling it at the wall.
