Brian's Donations
How many dollars in the course of the show did Brian raise for the Pittsburgh GLBT community?

I can think of $160K for the center: Carnival (his corporate sponsors matched funds raised up to one hundred thousand dollars, we know Brian skimmed 20% from the top, so lets say they matched $80K).

And $100K plus $2K for what became Vic Grossi House: Liberty Ride plus donation (Endeavor sponsorship of his ride and his Barcelona chair).

And $100K as Concerned Citizens for the Truth (his campaign against Stockwell).

Do you agree with these figures? Are there more to add?

ETA - $10K for the Marriage Initiative from Pool Boy campaign (addition via [info]vl_redreign *Smackles her*).

Yes, and the funny thing is, he's actually modest, even though he's the most arrogant modest person you'll ever meet. And he's humble. Justin and Debbie and Ted know that, if no one else does. They'll never say he's selfish or not to be trusted. They know who he is.

Your thoughts?

I think they definitely would say he is selfish and not to be trusted... but they don't mean about things that are really important.

Brian just isn't "nice" so he doesn't really fit well into a specific category.

I was just going to say the Marriage Initiative.

And donating Babylon to the Stop Prop 14 Fundraiser.

That was $10K plus whatever he would have made that night without the fundraiser. I didn't know how to add that because of the Bomb. Did the event raise money? How much do you think I should add for that?

I'm not sure how you should count it...he still lost the revenue from that night.

Yeah and they still didnt have to payout the $10K they would have.

And whatever the bombing cost I am sure Brian's insurance covered it.

And whatever the insurance didn't cover, I am sure Brian did himself, under is company. So that's even more money.

I think you should add donating Babylon to Stop Prop 8 Campaign, even though it ended tragically.

This is a cool list. Thanks! *hugs and cookies for you*

OOh, he donated his expensive chair to the halfway house in S4, before the bike fund raiser was announced. Remember Justin threatening Brian with no sex? Which, how funny is that thought considering they have an open relationship. Yet Brian did what Justin wanted anyway. Teehee.

And he bought Justin's sketch from the GLC Art Show in S1. (I think for $50 or maybe $100). Technically it's a fund raiser, even though he bought the sketch because he wanted it.

Brian is a complicated fellow, as this list vs his purported beliefs shows.

One more note- he attended the Angel Ball which was a fundraiser.

He received so many donation solicitations in 401 that he obviously has a habit of donating to many charities. (This is my opinion, since once I donate somewhere, they keep sending me mail, but I don't randomly get solicitations from places I've never donated to.)

Does the money he contributed to the senator's campaign when they crashed Michael and David's party count? I know he wanted Ted to check into increasing his "Charitable Donations". I know she was Pro-gay rights.

AND, didn't he offer that guy $100 to strip at the fundraiser at Woody's that got raided by Stockwell's police force.

I forgot about the Senator. We don't know how much. I am going to guess $10K, judging from Dr. David's reaction. But back then, maybe it was only $5K.

I was wondering about the $100, too. Was that to that guy or was it to the fundraiser?

I thought all the money at woody's was for a fundraiser.

I cracked myself up last night thinking about this. I actually got out of bed to write down these possibilites (that may have already been mentioned)

The $100 he gave for Justin's drawing of him at the GLC art fundraiser.

The Barcelona chair he donated to Liberty House (which is run by the GLC)

The check he returned to Lindsay at Kinnetik's grand opening party for her to give back to his donors (I'm assuming that means the GLC)

and I'm guessing he put in some money for the raffle ticket he bought when he won the White Party trip.

See... you made me crazy!

When he won the trip to Miami in 2.11, wasn't that from some charity lottery thing, too?
