I have a need...
a need for an icon.

I need an icon that cleverly references the insanity of the QaF timeline. However, I've got no ideas. Anyone?

Or Hunter being 17 at the end of S5 when he turned 16 in S3.

Whenever Michael says they want to adopt him as soon as possible in case Prop 14 passes, all I can think of is who cares about Prop 14, he's almost 18! That would be the bigger time crunch to worry about peeps.

True and he depending on how long you think season 3 lasts, he actually turned 16 before his actual party. See so confusing. lol

QUEER AS FOLK TIMELINES:

It snows in August.

A pregnancy lasts 14 months.

If you were born in 1970, you'll only turn 30 in 2001.

Pittsburgh Pride is in September.

6 months in Hollywood equals 3 months in Pittsburgh.

That's all I can think of at the moment.

HAHAHA

God I hate the QaF timeline- would it really have been that difficult to get it sorted out? Like if it was off now and then, you know like most shows are, it'd be fine, I could deal, but QaF is so off so often it just boggles the mind.

I actually think that the QAF timeline is no worse than most dramas, excluding sci-fi/fantasy shows, which tend to have much more careful "bibles" since they do so much world-building.

If you exclude all birthdates, there are actually very few timeline problems in the series.

Granted, that's a huge exclusion. ;)

Hmm...I guess it just seemed odd to have Mel's pregnancy last until the end of fourth season, while other things seemed to take a lot less time. And it always seemed to be cold there-and the last ep was supposed to be in April, but it was snowing. I mean, it could happen, but odd.

And exactly how long was Justin in Hollwood? I always thought it was just 3 months, but others says 6...

If you don't actually think about it too hard, it fits but when you start trying to make it make too much sense, my head explodes. lol

Yeah that's always been my problem. I over-analyze my real life, so it goes over into TV shows as well haha. I don't recall any other show's timeline bothering me so much, but perhaps I just wasn't as involved with it. *shrugs*

I've been better about it not getting to me; I just pick and choose things haha

Mel's pregnancy feels like it takes forever, but if you track 314 to 414 when she has the baby, we are given enough timeline clues that we're supposed to be right on track.

Election night in November, that's the end of her third trimester.

Liberty Ride almost six months later in April, when she has the baby a little early.

Granted, a lot happens in those almost-six-months, but we're told that the "not Christmas" party is in February, which is just about right, and there are a few other little time-of-year clues that hold together well. So it's more, wow, that's an awfully fast time for Brian to get cancer and get over cancer to the extent he can go on the Liberty Ride while also making Kinnetik a successful company in the first few months of its existence, but as for actual hard-fact timeline issues, Season Four is far from irreconcilable.

And remember -- I exclude birthdates from this.

That's how I reconcile the pregnancy, but it does fuck things up with the cancer/Kinnetik and also Ted's fall into the abyss in S3. It seems to happen really really fast.

No, you're right, her pregnancy fits in the timeline it's just odd to think that all of that takes place in 9 months, considering, like your example of Bryon getting cancer, opening Kinnetik, etc all in that time frame.

So out of curiosity, is there any guesses as to when Brian's birthday is? I know they changed Justin's birthday in second season to sometime when Pisces would be, so like end of February-to end of March (and I guess I decided to mentally stick with that as his rough birth, rather than when it would have been originally in S1).

Well he initially says 6-8 months I think, and the baby looks older than 3 months. My guess was always 6 because of the age of the baby.

and Brian says first it's 3-4 months, then 6 then 8...or something like that when he decides not to go to LA. *sobs*

Oh right, the baby. I am bad at guessing kids' ages, but she does look older than three months. Maybe I meant I thought it was 6 months and others thought it was 3 months? Or whatever, I'll try to remember 6 months haha.

I just remembered him talking to Bryon and saying "another 3 months" and Bryon saying "first it was 3 months, then 6..." etc. Ok I'm tired, I shouldn't try to do this now, because I may be quoting it all wrong, and will end up kicking myself for not remembering.

Shit, Brian's cancer lasted less than Mel's pregnancy. If I was gonna call out an unrealistic timeline, that would be it. Surgery in 407, fucking by 411??? Um...no. Don't think so.

Technically he was fucking by 410 but Xie and I figured it out that there might be a little wiggle room to add a month in there but it's still not realistic.
