April 2nd, 2011: Team Pretty
Who: Yori and Kaoru
What: Yori wants to make sure Kaoru can actually cook edible things given his father's cooking and makes a pretense of being unsure of his own cooking abilities. Kaoru is nice enough to show up and practice with him.
When: April 2nd, 4 PM-ish
Where: 346 Aido Court. Yori's house.
Upperclassman Sakamoto was several things, Yori had decided over the course of being approached by him and befriending the man. At least, he liked to think he'd befriended him - he couldn't be sure yet, but it seemed like that flimsy link had been formed. Sakamoto was handsome, meant well, disorganized but a good thinker, terrible at math...and a ladies man who was utterly gay. Or at least, this was the feeling Yori had. His observations were, of course, only early observations and he was quite prepared to have to scratch many of these mental notes off and correct them.
The host club idea was a perfect way for Yori to stand beside his rival for the public's prince charming. Kaoru, in Yori's mind, was the only other male he knew of yet in Hirosaka that could possibly beat him in the popularity department. It was part of why he felt lucky that Kaoru had come to him about being part of his host club idea. Being so close to Kaoru meant that he wouldn't have to compete against him - in fact, Kaoru's success and popularity would likely boost his own.
And he kind of liked the guy. If it was possible for him to like someone, he would've liked the guy, anyway. 'Like' wasn't something that really existed, he knew. Attraction was real, though, and Sakamoto certainly had that going for him. Yori preferred women and he could see why lots of women would get that look in their eye when Sakamoto was around.
He wondered how useful it would be if he could make Sakamoto look at him like that. Want him, but not so much as to problematically chase after him - he needed to find someone who would help his ambitions soar and he doubted his upperclassman was going to be the right person for that. Kaoru was probably as much a flirt as he to keep the adoring masses satisfied and at bay (and yes, it was as arrogant as it sounded, which is why Yori would never say it aloud) but he wondered if he could get through the flirtation enough to actually accomplish that. After all, to have someone quite so popular and desired interested in him simply helped him maintain the perfect outward appearance his parents had raised him to strive for.
Ah well. Things like that had to be paced. He'd prepared the kitchen for a variety of foods - he wasn't sure what kinds of things Kaoru would want them to make - and he'd see about making sure that they wouldn't come off as total fools in the future endeavor. Yori smirked at the clock, sitting on a stool at the kitchen counter with a book in hand, unsure of how long he would have to wait for his guest.
