They're trying to build a prison (for you and me to live in)

WHO » Charles Xavier ([info]helpmeguideit) and Erik Lehnsherr ([info]e4e5nf3nc6nc3)
WHERE » The prison holding Erik.
WHEN » early 1964
WHAT » Charles pays a visit to Erik after he's convicted and imprisoned for President Kennedy's assassination.
VERSE » unnamed storyline

The instant he was accused, Erik knew he was done for. It honestly surprised him that they'd opted for imprisonment rather than death. The secret trial, the secret prison, the speed of all was an astounding display of how efficiently government could work when it set its collective mind to a task. Now, he was sure, the only think keeping him alive was his reticence to speak on the matter. All he said was all he would say. "You'll never find her."

Every day people came. Humans. Those who tried to defend him in court, those who prosecuted, others with ties and influence all trying to pry more information for him. Why did he do it? What was his goal? He never said a word. Let them consume themselves in their feeding frenzy. None of them believe he wasn't the one who'd done this awful thing. Maybe that's why they called in Charles. He doubted the man would come on his own. They probably wouldn't let him.

Erik pulled himself from the cot, staring silently at his former ally through the thick sheet of plexiglass that separated him from the world. He couldn't hear through it, but there was a speaker system that allowed him to speak. No, they had to keep him completely isolated from others. That was part of the plan, Erik was sure.

❝ Hide your face, so the world will never find you. ❞

WHO » Thylas ([info]stylelessthylas) and Nemo ([info]anowlonthesill)
WHERE » A cabin by a lake somewhere
WHEN » present day
WHAT » Nemo pays a visit to its only Earthly friend.
VERSE » idk, we haven't named it yet

Nemo took Thylas' words to hard when the other being suggest it do more than observe. Interact, Thylas said. Well, Nemo couldn't very well continue interacting with humans (which it had done a very limited basis) without an actual true and real corporeal fleshy form. It took some time and a lot of effort, Nemo and its kind don't usually go about in physical forms, but it isn't impossible.

Once Nemo settled on a shape, he -- yes, the body was human designation male -- went out finding his friend. It wasn't hard, like entities and all. However, the mode of transportation to which Nemo was accustomed left him dizzy and vomiting in the nearest bush. Thank goodness Thylas liked to spend his time out in nature. That would've been a mess indoors.

Once the wave of nausea passed, Nemo turned his gaze toward the lake. If he lived here, that's where he would be: by the water. And there was his friend. Nemo perked and toddled over. It was probably a ridiculous sight, like a gangly child growing into a teenage body. Nemo wasn't quite used to the way a flesh body felt. It was heavy and slow and jerky, but he made it to the water's edge and waved eagerly.

Hel-- No, he must speak in a flesh body. It's the proper way to communicate. "Hello!"

❝all that we see or seem is but a dream within a dream❞

WHO » Charles Xavier & Erik Lehnsherr
WHERE » Lovely dreamlands.
WHEN » First meeting.
WHAT » Charles and Erik meet for the first time in dreams. Literally.
VERSE » ???

Charles had visited the dreamscape several times in the past. He enjoyed that he could occassionally find people, build, and change things. He was always one of the first to try something new. He found that this place had tested his skills to different levels - more than they were ever tested in his waking hours. Charles always brought as little of himself into it as possible. He liked things to form and change organically, while not telling too much about himself. He prefers his waking life and dreaming life to stay apart. The bionics on his legs were the only thing about himself that he never was able to shake off, even in his dream.

It was quiet, as usual. He had found a small place at which he liked to spend time. There were books, a large and comfortable chair, and as always - there was plenty of time. He had barely sat down with a book before he felt a tug at his mind. It was so unfamiliar in his dreams that he felt drawn to it. He dropped what he was doing and started towards that pull.

His steps were slow - cautious, yet curious. He wanted to call out, but he bit his bottom lip and fought it. After all, it would be best to get a visual idea of what (or who) he was approaching. It took several moments before he saw someone. This man must have been what he had felt. Knowing it was a person put him at ease, and allowed him to speak.

"I don't find many people here."

WHO » Charles Xavier ([info]allthoseminds) ; Erik Lehnsherr ([info]triedtotameyou)
WHERE » London, England
WHEN » Approximately a month after Charles and Erik meet as Doctor and Patient.
WHAT » Another meeting, another session.
VERSE » Confidentiality

Charles had not expected this place to feel quite like it did. Despite the near month spent in Solitary, he was definitely not alone. He was sure that by the end of it all, he would be just as mad as the truly mad men and women there. If he were not completely rational, it would have been a complete struggle. The situation forced him to get better at compartmentalizing the thoughts. Eventually, despite not being able to turn them off and on at will, things felt quieter. Slowly but surely, he knew, this would force him to get better.

Every test that could be thought up had been used on him. He didn't enjoy the tests. He had to prove that he was lucid. Maybe he could eventually prove that what he did was true. He was the first like himself that he had known, so he wasn't certain if there was a test for things like that.

Each day, his Doctor had asked him if he wanted to be in Solitary confinement, and each day he took it. He felt better being away from people, he couldn't accidentally ask someone to do something. Even when he had times away from there, and he was near the others, he was carefully quiet and antisocial. Charles knew that this skill had instilled such a fear in him mistakenly hurting someone that he didn't want to hurt.

He lay there, alone, rolled on his side with a book. It was getting near time for his 'appointment' with his Doctor. Sometimes, he looked forward to it, today was one of those days. It was nice to have conversation with someone. He closed the book and faced the door, waiting for that scheduled time.

❝ And if it's the last thing I ever do I'm gonna get you ❞

WHO » Charles Xavier ([info]walkingthegrid) & Erik Lehnsherr ([info]fromtheirmouths)
WHERE » Somewhere in New York.
WHEN » Shortly before Erik's capture; present day
WHAT » Detective Xavier receives a letter from his biggest fan
VERSE » Psychic Propinquity

From the outside, it was just another nondescript, turn-of-the-century buildings. One of those little places that people paused at on the street to admire, praising its Old World charm, wondering why such a place isn’t a hotel. Surely a place like that would be a change to all those run-of-the-mill chain hotels. Oh, if only they knew what went on inside.

Maybe someday. Maybe someday someone would write books about this place, about the countless souls lost in these walls. All those little lights so easily snuffed out in that striking little building with the Old World charm. In the distant past, it had been a funeral home and still had most of the equipment in the basement. It certainly helped for cleaning up after visitors.

Visitors.

That brought a smile to Erik’s face. It wouldn’t be long until it was all over. No more awe-filled gasps that the inside was as archaic as the out. No more fear flashing through eyes, no more moments of defiance just before the final break. No more sighs as the last bit of breath left their fragile frames. Ah, well, it had been fun while it lasted.

All that whirled through his mind as he sat in the office, in the flicker of light clinging to the last moments of its own bright life. It must’ve been a sight, the well-dressed man with his medical gloves, scratching an old fountain pen across the page in his precise hand.
Detective Xavier,

Charles.

May I call you Charles?

I’ve long awaited finding a kindred spirit in this world. I know you’re looking for me. It won’t be long until we’re finally able to meet. The anticipation of it keeps me awake at night. I’m very curious about some of your habits. When I saw you in your café eating that same soup you always do, it took more self-restraint than I’d thought not to talk to you. I was surprised to learn that you don’t drive, something we have in common. I’m sure we’ll have much to discuss when you finally come for me.

It won’ t be long now. Let’s see how much of your well-ordered world I can turn upside down until then.

All my regards,
E.L.

Erik read over the note once and again before carefully folding it into perfect thirds and pressing a gloved finger along the creases. He tucked it into one of those self-adhesive envelopes. It wouldn’t do to be caught before it was time, after all. Erik tucked the envelope into his jacket pocket, a reminder to himself to deposit it in the uptown mail when he was in that part of town. It would be a few days, he knew, before the letter would get to his dear detective. Those days passed slowly, leaving Erik agitated and impatient for some, any sort of response.

WHO » Charles Xavier ([info]allthoseminds) ; Erik Lehnsherr ([info]triedtotameyou)
WHERE » London, England
WHEN » Charles' first arrival.
WHAT » Charles and Erik meet for the first time as doctor and patient.
VERSE » Confidentiality

Charles was nearly finished with his PhD when everything had started. At first, it seemed as though the thoughts of others were figments of his imagination. It was as though he was listening to a conversation across the room. Then they started to become clearer. The whispers had turned to shouts in his ears. He didn’t think that he was mad, but his stepfather and mother certainly thought he was. He didn’t intend for them to find out about his newly discovered skill. It was a mistake caused by the inexperience with his skill.

There was a suggestion passed around that he should hold off on his schooling until he felt well again, and then he could complete his degree.

He didn’t like the idea, but if he were to continue with his life, he would abide by them. Charles had to look at it in a positive light. Despite the minds of those who were likely truly mad, he would be away from Kurt Marko and his mother. He wondered if he truly could go on with his life, now that he would likely bear the label of “mad”. People would know that he was committed. It wasn’t something that he could easily get rid of. Or ever.

Charles hesitated to even step inside the institution once he arrived. He could run and go somewhere else. The way things felt around here was far from comforting for him. He wasn’t mad, but he was sure by spending time here, he would be. When he physically stopped, his mother nudged him forward. She didn’t offer any encouraging words (or any words, really). And once she was sure that he was going inside, having been met by two men larger than him, she didn’t hesitate to turn towards the car and leave.

He was led towards his own room with bags, which were placed on the ground by two other men that followed right behind him. A nurse arrived in his room and led him towards one of the larger community rooms. There were several chairs, scattered around the room. They looked uncomfortable, but he was directed to sit down in one and wait, so he could meet up with the doctor. He sat down, and tugged on the sleeves of his long sleeve tee. He folded one leg over the other and looked around the room. He waited. He was quiet, the room was quiet, but he could hear the buzzing of minds around the building.

As Charles got older, he found large celebrations less and less necessary. Everything would be at his home, small groups of people, and not too much excitement. He saw no need to call attention to themselves. (They had gotten enough attention in the past nearly fifty years as leaders of mutant kind.) Select guests would attend the small party: his family, close friends, students, his X-Men, those were the only people that he had found would need to be there. For the most part, the ceremony itself would be just himself, Erik, the city official, Anne - and her own family.

There were no nerves, he had lived with Erik for forty-eight years, and been with him just months shorter than that. And though nothing would truly be that different, it was important to them both to have this. Charles dressed just slightly nicer than his regular attire. A black pair of slacks, a black jacket, a white shirt, and a black tie, neatly tucked into the vest under his jacket.

He was eager, though, for the party afterwards. It had been awhile since they had something to celebrate around the house, and for him - this was truly about enjoying the children.

❝ You go back to the one who possesses your soul and I back to the life that I dread. ❞

WHO » Charles Xavier ([info]noprideparades) and Erik Lehnsherr ([info]isthatnarnia)
WHERE » Charles' home in London
WHEN » The morning after Erik shows up injured on Charles' doorstep.
WHAT » Erik's sneaking out in the wee hours so as not to wake the household.
VERSE » Where We Come From

Erik wasn't sure when he'd nodded off, nor for how long he'd slept. All he knew was that birds were chirping outside the window. That was a sure sign that it wouldn't be long for the sun to rise and the with it the household. Some of the staff might already be awake, but that was no trouble to Erik. It was Charles he wanted to avoid. His unexpected visit kept the good doctor later than decency allowed and his drunken babble left Erik feeling marginally self-conscious. Best to slip out with the dark and put the night behind him.

As Charles had predicted, Erik wasn't actually fit to go. Pain lanced through his leg when he put his weight on it, so he limped his way to the door. He could send word the foreman to do the day's inspection and spend the day at home. It wasn't as if he avoided work often. Erik made no effort to make himself presentable, he simply shuffled (with much difficulty!) through the house toward the door. By the time he made it the foyer, he had to stop and regather his strength.

❝ Quarantine ❞

WHO » OPEN!
WHERE » An undisclosed location
WHEN » late 1964
WHAT » The world's mutants / abnormals / super-powered people are rounded up and placed in a specialised facility to protect the public.
VERSE » The Doom of Our Time
NOTES » While this is an open post, we're hoping to make a long-term plot of it. If that's not something you're interested in, you're still free to reply to this post. Also, flexibility with timeline is cool. Even if your character wasn't technically around in the 1960s, feel free to be involved in this. Mutants, abnormals, any kind of people with with super-human abilities are welcome. Baseline humans are welcome, too. We need guards, scientists, mutant sympathisers, etc. etc.

They came in the dead of night for the most outspoken of mutant-kind. Those men and women whose charisma and vision rallied the like-minded to them. Those men and women who posed an actual threat of success in achieving mutant rights in one way or another. The story hit the news the next day: BROTHERHOOD LEADERSHIP APPREHENDED. XAVIER'S 'SCHOOL' RAIDED. MUTANT MENACE NEUTRALISED. Details of the valiant captures followed, but none told the truth of the matter. No media outlet shared the voice of the fourteen year-old mutant torn from her bed by gas and blinding light and armed men in SWAT gear. No accounts were given of their experience. no word mentioned of the operation's almost two years planning.

It started almost immediately after the events in Cuba: a silent, insidious attack on mutants. After failing with brute force, it became apparent that other means were necessary for the governments of the world's superpowers to deal with the new threat. Monitoring began, a full-scale but covert search for mutant activity. Research and development kicked into gear after that. It wasn't as if any civilised government could condone the full-scale annihilation of an entire population. Control was key and so experiments began in secret to find way of suppressing the known mutations.

Quarantine begins the doom of our time )

WHEN » Early September, 1963
WHAT » Surprise waiting at Xavier's School For Gifted Youngsters
VERSE » Happy Endings

Charles sat at the table for a moment after he finished eating breakfast. He looked up to Erik with a genuine smile, glad that he managed to get up early. He rarely got up early enough to be there with Erik for parts of his morning routine, and he was glad to have a few quiet - private - moments.

"I hope I'm not disrupting your morning," he said, and it was hard to tell if he was teasing. He moved his hand through his hair, "I have work to do this morning. I nearly fell asleep doing it last night, so no need to think of me as a distraction."

It had taken awhile, but he had finally adjusted to everything since he that had happened nearly a year ago. There were always doubts there, but he had become a stronger leader since Erik had come back. His students respected him, and stopped treating him so delicately after some time. He would be very hurt if Erik left (as Charles had feared so many times earlier that year), but he had realized he could manage. Not that he had wanted to have to do it on his own -- never.

WHERE » London, England
WHEN » Not too long after their meeting, Regency Era
WHAT » Erik shows at Charles' place after an unfortunate incident.
VERSE » Where We Come From

Charles was busying himself about the house, having completed his day at work. He had managed to avoid a party for the night that neighbors had been attempting to throw in favor of having a quiet dinner with Caroline. It had been peaceful, with friendly conversation between the two of them. They each shared a story before he gave Caroline a kiss good night and they parted ways Charles made his way to a front room with a book, ink, and paper in hand. He often spent hours like this -- reading, researching, and taking notes of what he wanted. He had pages of notes about his own gift Raven's, and Erik's. He preferred these hours alone. He didn't want to share his differences with Caroline - force her to keep those secrets.

He heard something outside before he had felt it. He quickly folded his papers away safely into one of the books and placed them on a small table. Charles stood and headed towards the front door.

He really IS a handsome shark!

WHO » Charles Xavier ([info]butwedonot) and Erik Lehnsherr ([info]e4e5nf3nc6nc3)
WHERE » An aquarium in New York
WHEN » Present day
WHAT » Erik is a shark. Correction: Erik was a shark.
VERSE » That unnamed cracky shark verse.

It started out like any other day: swimming in a terribly confined space that made him restless and being fed rather than hunting. There was something wrong with the whole thing, depressing one might say. Well, a human would. For a shark, the confined space and easy meals just felt off somehow. Through the invisible barrier he caught glimpses of strange figures staring back at him, a familiar one showing up over and over again. It wasn't long before Erik realised that familiar shape was different. It talked to him through the glass, sometimes he saw its rippling silhouette above the water's surface. It seemed to have a respect for him.

It was more of the same, circling, swimming, shapes moving beyond the invisible barrier that held him until the most unexpected of things happened. A shark's predatory sense was keen and Erik didn't detect anything amiss until he was, quite suddenly, flailing, sinking, and... dying! Everything felt more wrong than before, hos body small and just not working properly. He gulped in water, only to find a burning sensation building inside with each gulp. It wasn't helping!
