The instant he was accused, Erik knew he was done for. It honestly surprised him that they'd opted for imprisonment rather than death. The secret trial, the secret prison, the speed of all was an astounding display of how efficiently government could work when it set its collective mind to a task. Now, he was sure, the only think keeping him alive was his reticence to speak on the matter. All he said was all he would say. "You'll never find her."
Every day people came. Humans. Those who tried to defend him in court, those who prosecuted, others with ties and influence all trying to pry more information for him. Why did he do it? What was his goal? He never said a word. Let them consume themselves in their feeding frenzy. None of them believe he wasn't the one who'd done this awful thing. Maybe that's why they called in Charles. He doubted the man would come on his own. They probably wouldn't let him.
Erik pulled himself from the cot, staring silently at his former ally through the thick sheet of plexiglass that separated him from the world. He couldn't hear through it, but there was a speaker system that allowed him to speak. No, they had to keep him completely isolated from others. That was part of the plan, Erik was sure.
