“Oh home, why do you thwart us so?”
“Great, now he’s talking to land.”
“Not only that but land that can’t hear him.”
“All we want is to come feel your embrace...”
“I’ll show you land’s embrace if you don’t stop!”
“Come on Galahad! All we ever do is hope and dream about going home. I don’t think home wants us.”
Galahad looked up at the bright blue sky overhead. It would rain soon, if not snow. The light grey clouds to the east threatened the knights. The good part about having the rain or snow, it would hide their tracks. The bad timing, it would also hide the tracks of the deer. Not that he would be able to see a single deer with Gawain gabbing like he was ahead. Galahad’s bright blue eyes looked over to Bors riding beside him. “Maybe Tristan will catch something.”
“Let’s hope. If he doesn’t we can always stew up land lover up there.”
Galahad looked ahead at Gawain to see if he had heard Bors’ threat over his own mouth. He sighed as Gawain continued on, lamenting about unforgiving land. “I fear he’ll make our insides talk as much as he does now.”
Bors laughed, “Aye! Be worse on the way out!”
“What are you talking about?” Gawain had finally picked up on his two fellow knights not listening to him.
Galahad glanced over at Bors, watching the other study Gawain, “Oh nothin’ just if’n you don’t shut your mouth we’re going to have to cook Tristan’s bird. And you’re the one gettin’ it!”
A few hours later, Galahad spotted a deer, smirking at the eerie silence as Gawain took aim. He glanced at Bors as the arrow flew, “Reckon he’ll ever get over his fear of Tristan?”
“Let’s hope not.”
