The Cloak (Fullmetal Alchemist, Prompt #82)
Title: The Cloak
Fandom: Fullmetal Alchemist
Characters/Pairing: Edward Elric
Rating: G
Word Count: 127
Prompt: #82 - Red
Summary: Ed reflects on his journey while folding his cloak on the bed.

A metal hand and normal hand grip to the soft red cloth as golden eyes stare blankly at the fabric. How long had he had this thing? Ever since he and Alphonse left on their journey, was it?
He still remembered that day--striking the match and burning down a place he once called home; now, the road was his home. This was punishment for his transgression and his failure--the transgression into the realm of the gods with Human Transmutation, and his failure to protect Alphonse, resulting in the current state of affairs, with his brother stuck as a soul bound to a suit of armor.
As he folded it over, he smoothed it. Maybe the affairs could be smoothed over like the cloth. Only time would tell.
