The goal of the experiment is to figure out how to genetically modify humans in a permanent fashion, keep the subjects from perishing due to modification complications, and to fully test the functionality of each modification using different scenarios in hopes that they will be able to implement the procedures into specifically chosen, small, squadrons in each branch of the military. The general public has no knowledge of this experiment nor will they in the future. Subjects are chosen at random and just seem to disappear off the face of the Earth, never knowing exactly why they have been chosen for such a project. To prevent subjects from going rogue, and to keep an eye on the status of each subject through each scenario, each group is placed into a large-scale dome-shaped area that is inescapable complete with twenty-four hour continuous surveillance by cameras that are unable to be discovered. The first six experiments of this nature have failed; seventy percent of test subjects in each dome expired due to effects of their mutation, twenty percent due to scenario testing, and the other ten percent were properly disposed of by those running the project. This is their seventh and final try before the project is restaffed and the scientists themselves are disposed of to prevent information leaks. They have tweaked their formulas and testing procedures and have decided that by focusing on smaller numbers there was a chance of a much higher survival rate, though they do not expect all subjects to last for the duration. Sixteen people have been selected from various locations though it is unclear to participants if there is a link they all share or if they were chosen by sheer chance and misfortune. Some were kidnapped off the street; some came from places where they were being held against their will. The cobblestone streets were mended and buildings were sold at auctions. Knockturn Alley was cleared out of any dark magic and replaced with a young, vibrant crowd of artists and craftsmen. The residential alleys were revamped with new homes and bright, cheerful grocers and cafes. A theater was built next to Gringotts and new restaurants, boutiques and pubs came in, giving Diagon a second life. The crowning gem in Diagon was a project that took a full year to complete. Fifty-four Diagon Alley is a ten story residential building. The first floor holds a booming pub and gourmet green grocer. The second floor holds a suite of offices, upscale clothing store, and a fitness center complete with a luxury spa. The building itself holds 100 apartments ranging in both size and price. The flats are customizable… for a price. And to top it all off, 54 Diagon Alley has a covered rooftop garden charmed to be a perfect summer day all year round along with a pool, two hot tubs and live entertainment offered on the weekends. Though its former grandeur is quite apparent, the surroundings seem dated. The air is stale. In your hand is a PDA that you don't believe belongs to you. It's curious how it ended up in your hand because you don't remember picking it up or even coming into the building. On closer inspection, it seems that you are in a lobby of some sort, standing near a reception area. The first thing that you notice is the large clock and the words "Hotel Kairos" emblazoned just beneath it. The desk is empty save for a battered looking bell and a dusty ledger that appears to be some sort of guest book. A sign next to it politely reminds you to 'please sign in upon arrival.' You may try ringing the bell, but no one will attend to you, why not do as the sign says? When you go to look at the book, however, you realize that you already have signed the book. Beside your name, written in your own handwriting, a room number appears on the page. Upon further examination of the PDA, you receive a private message. It reads as follows: 'Dear Guest, welcome to the Hotel Kairos. Please be advised excursions will take place every 72 hours, you are free to explore within that time frame but the hotel takes no responsibility for you thereafter should you fail to return to the premises within the allotted time. Meal service is not provided but please feel free to use the kitchen. You are also permitted to bring back sundries from your latest excursion. The wifi password is chronos, we suggest logging into the device we have provided so as to be able to communicate with other guests. Please make your own way to your assigned room.
