In 2001, with Second War alumni returning for a sudden reunion, they quickly find themselves sucked into another world altogether. Given housing of their own for the time being, they come to realize that they're not the only ones stuck in such an intensely abrupt situation. With them, huddled all under one Inn's roof, are various alumni from the First War. This new world is an alternative take on how the war could have gone. With Bellatrix leading the head of a vicious group of assassins called the Moraie, she stands tall as conqueror of Britain with her husband Rodolphus and their adopted son, Neville. It seems as if she had a different take on how to deal with the "Chosen One" the Prophecy spoke of. Surely raising him would be enough to cancel it out? So she hopes. And, where is Albus Dumbledore in all of this, you might ask? Disappearing shortly after the crumbling of the Order and Bellatrix's rise to power in 1981, he has been neither seen nor heard from in twenty years. Aberforth was kind enough to take over the position of headmaster of Hogwarts after his brother's disappearance and is hoping that with the arrival of all of these new visitors that perhaps reinstating the Order to what it once was will bring Albus back for good. The days that followed changed everything most people believed they knew about the world, about history, and most importantly, about themselves. Celebrities, politicians, the family down the street - they began revealing their true identities, and telling the world what they really were. Missing people that had been turned against their will came out of hiding, and orginizations popped up to reunite them with their families. The revealing of the supernatural was penned in the media as the Light of May, as society made room for the supernatural. It wasn't easy. Lord Voldemort and his followers strike fear into the hearts of all. Giants and werewolves serve the Dark Lord, doing his bidding. The Death Eaters roam free, killing Mudbloods, Muggles, and Blood Traitors as they please. Hundreds have died and disappeared. As each day passes, the resistance grows weaker. Voldemort seems to be invincible and all hope is lost. That is until a Prophecy was made; a child with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord will be born as the seventh month dies to those who have thrice defied him and with a power that the Dark Lord will not understand. This child would bring an end to Voldemort’s reign. And so the Dark Lord set out to kill this child before he can grow into a threat. The problem lay in discovering the child, for two couples who had twice defied the Dark Lord were expecting children, both due in July. In order to seek the answer, Lord Voldemort kidnapped the Unspeakable assigned to the Prophecy, assuming that there he would find the truth, but the Dark Lord did not expect Marlene McKinnon to be brave enough to deceive him. How could a child born to either the Potters or the Longbottoms be the supposed Prophecy child when their parents had only defied him twice? And the probability of them doing it a third time was inconceivable, who would be foolish enough to defy the Dark Lord that many times? She insisted that a wizard as great as he was, was foolish to waste his time on the silly words of a false seer; she believed the prophecy was false. With that lie, the children remained momentarily safe with their parents none the wiser to the fate that potentially awaited their children. Until the night of the Autumn Equinox; Halloween, 1980, when Lily and James Potter will once again defy the Dark Lord Voldemort and make the Prophecy a reality. Now the Dark Lord hunts for the couple and their son, his focus distracted from his original goal of ridding the world of those whom he found to be unworthy; all that matters now was his immortality. This leaves room for the resistance to grow stronger. And just as it seems that there is no hope for the Potters to come out of this alive, Alice and Frank Longbottom thrice defy Voldemort, sending them into hiding as well. The fate of the Wizarding World lies in the hands of two small infants and a group of vigilantes working for Dumbledore. How can they stand a chance against Voldemort and all of his forces? It’s time to find out. Well, here at The Other Side, we'd like to indulge you. Enable you, free you. We understand the appeal of crack!comms. Getting to create a character all your own with a little dash of canon thrown in. You always wanted the Malfoys to have a daughter. Or maybe you wanted all of the Weasleys to be boys? Or perhaps you were always a sucker for Severus/Lily and were always upset that they never ended up together. That's what crack!comms offer you. Freedom of creativity. We admire that. However, on the other side, we understand the appeal of a normal, plot based canon game. While not nearly as unrestricted as a crack!game, it gives you plot to work off of and create a story with. It brings you stability and sometimes it's just nice to sit back and play a canon character you happen to love, no alterations needed, right? Tolkien On the night of All Hallow’s Eve, 1981, the Dark Lord Voldemort fell at the hands of one-year old Harry Potter, bringing an end to a decade long reign of terror, to the relief of the entire Wizarding World. Death Eaters were imprisoned, wounds healed, and the Wizarding World spent the next decade healing from the pain of the first war. Yet, Voldemort was not truly defeated that night. He will rise once more, bringing upon another vicious war upon the Wizarding World. Everyone knows the story of James and Lily Potter and the story of their son, Harry, but until now, the story of what happened in between has been unknown. It is 1990, the year before Harry Potter will discover he is a Wizard. Professor Quirrell has left his post at Hogwarts to travel Romania, where he will soon discover the Dark Lord and become his vessel, but back at Hogwarts, all thoughts of Voldemort ever returning are far from anyone’s minds. The students of Hogwarts are far too worried about their love lives, winning Quidditch matches, and avoiding being the target of the secret gossip column of the school, while their professors have similar interests. Rivalries run deep, love comes and goes, and the foundation for the future is being paved. Everyone stands at a crossroads, the road behind them broken and wilting. The road ahead holds a mystery. Which paths in life will they chose? Who will they become? Only one thing is certain; they must choose. Voldemort and his followers are on the rise, leaving behind a reign of terror in their wake. As Voldemort’s supporters increase and more Wizards are murdered or go missing, Wizards and Witches begin to grow even more uneasy and terrified, and an increasing number choose to fall prey to his Empire, out of fear for their lives, unwilling to stand up and fight. Despite the increasing danger to their loves, a small group of vigilante Wizards, led by Albus Dumbledore, has begun a rebellion, daring to do what the Ministry will not; fight. The Order of the Phoenix is slowly forming into a force to be reckoned with, a threat to not only Voldemort, but the Ministry itself. Change is on the brink for the students of Hogwarts. You wait for the dust to settle, and then you choose. You can live in the wreckage and pretend it's still the mansion you remember. Or you can crawl from the rubble and slowly rebuild. Because after disaster strikes, the important thing is that you move on.”-Veronica Mars Seven years ago, the Dark Lord Voldemort fell, finally bringing an end to his vicious reign of power and terror. Yet, the war did not end with his death. For years, the Wizarding World has worked to repair the damages left during the aftermath of war. Emotional burdens have yet to fully heal, too many lives destroyed, families torn apart, and friends lost. Hogwarts was left in rubble, unable to reopen for years, the damage too great, endless sweat and tears shed as people worked to rebuild the foundations to give their children a future. Death Eaters still roam free, cunningly avoiding even the best Aurors, leaving many in fear that another war will be on the horizon. As things begin to resemble some semblance of normalcy, an old follower of Voldemort is in the wings, plotting his revenge, gathering the remaining Death Eaters and new followers, planning to unleash a new war, wanting to finish his master’s vision. In the Ministry, a serial killer is murdering powerful political figures, leaving everyone pointing fingers and letting things slip through the cracks. Fenrir Greyback has escaped from Azkaban, butchering countless individuals as he runs from Aurors, gathering and making new werewolves in his travels, building an army to strike against the Ministry. Vampires have demanded equality for their race, threatening to reveal themselves to Muggles if the Ministry does not comply with their wishes and their campaign has given life to Hermione Granger’s political ambitions for equality to all magical creatures. The Prophet, with it’s new Editor-In-Chief, Katie Bell, now reports real news and is angering people throughout the Ministry for it’s blunt facts, politics, and critique of the Ministry. All the while, the Muggle World is at war in the Middle East, affecting the Wizarding World as it heightens. The entire world is in complete chaos. Minister of Magic, Kingsley Shacklebolt is determined to rebuild the Wizarding Community into a vision of peace and has called forth some of the best Aurors from around the world in an effort to clean up the United Kingdom, determined to capture and imprison the remaining Death Eaters and send a clear message of constant vigilance to those seeking to do more harm. Many are unhappy with the Minister’s plans, many seeking to replace him and other important individuals, some willing to go to great lengths to achieve their goals.
