WHO: Peter Petrelli and Lady Heather
WHERE: Impero
WHEN: 9:30 PM, 12/17/08
RATING: R? Will revise if need be
STATUS: Incomplete

Peter had no idea what he was doing, but this was news how exactly? He was in the back of a cab, headed toward a sex club to meet with the proprietor. Lady Heather's post had sounded intriguing and she was a beautiful lady herself, both of which had factored into Peter's curiosity getting the better of him.

He could only imagine what his father would think of him if he found out. Then he winced, realizing he was judging his father's past self based on the reactions of his father's future self. Still, that disappointment had come from somewhere, right? If the future Arthur believed that Peter was worthless, what was to stop the past version from thinking the same thing?

He sighed and thanked the driver as the cab came to a stop outside the club. He paid the fare and then got out of the cab, looking at the exterior of the club. Licking his lips, he braced himself as he walked up to the entrance. He hesitated a moment and then opened the door, stepping into the club.

She smiled easily. "Polite -- I was expecting that." Heather closed the book that she had been flipping through and opened a second, larger book full of illustrations and numbers.

Even though she knew the answer, she had to ask as a formality. "You've never visited a fetish club before, is that correct?" She motioned to the chair in front of her. "Please, have a seat. If you care for a drink, I can call down. It helps keep some people calm."

And distracted from talking about their personal lives with a woman who was more or less a complete stranger.

Peter blinked, his eyebrows lifting slightly. Oh, it was a fetish club. Well, he certainly hadn't been expecting that. He looked curiously at the book that she had set on her desk as he moved forward to sit down in the chair.

"That's, uh, yeah, that's correct. This would be my first time." he said. He started to crack a joke about her popping his fetish club cherry, but wisely decided that it was lame and overdone.

He cleared his throat and shifted a little. "A drink sounds good, actually." he said. "A glass of port, if you have it." He didn't get to drink it very often, usually reserving it for holidays and special occasions. He figured tonight was as good a special occasion as any.

"So, where do we begin?" he asked.

"Well," Heather smiled once more and buzzed downstairs for a glass of port that would be up in a few moments. She smoothed a hand over the top of her book.

"First you tell me about yourself. Your family situation, your expectations of this place." It was always good to dispel myths within the first fifteen minutes of a consultation so that things would run smoothly and Peter would be more open to her.

"And of course, why you felt you were interested in the first place -- keeping in mind that something more detailed than 'curiosity' will help you more than hinder you." She maintained relatively steady eye contact with Peter, but made sure it didn't appear that she was staring -- no need to make him more nervous.

Peter licked his lips, pondering her statements. "Well, I will admit that I didn't realize this place was a fetish club." he said. "That doesn't mean I don't want to be here. I am curious, I would be lying if I said otherwise, but that isn't why I was interested. I feel like I need </i>something</i>, but I don't really know what it is, and I thought that maybe coming here -- even if just to talk -- would help."

He cleared his throat a little, drumming his fingertips against his knee. "You wanted to hear about me. Um. . ." He debated for a moment about whether or not to mention his powers, and decided it was for the best to leave that for later. "I'm the youngest son of a very wealthy, influential couple. Arthur Petrelli is a high-profile lawyer in New York City and my mother, Angela, is well known as well. My older brother, Nathan, well, everybody knows him too. He was the Assistant DA and then the DA, and now he's a Senator in Washington."

He snorted a little, chuckling slightly as he glanced down at his lap. "And me? I'm just Peter, and I like that. I chose a different path than my father and brother. Dad wanted me to be a lawyer. I chose to be a nurse instead. He was so disappointed in me. I wasn't living up to my potential."

He blinked a little and shifted awkwardly, realizing that he was rambling about his personal history with a relative stranger. He had no idea how any of this was going to help her or if he was saying too much. She wasn't a therapist, after all. She'd probably wanted the cut-and-dried version of his life story.

"Everyone around me seems to have made a connection with somebody." he said quietly. "That's not why I'm here, I'm not stupid enough to think that this is any kind of dating service or something like that. I just want. . .I need something to do with myself. I need an outlet. Something that doesn't make me feel so pathetic."

Well, that narrowed some things down. She knew the type, the youngest of a family of influential people who wanted to do something that was better suited to his life.

"I imagine you feel conflicted with your family more often than really comfortable, then. It must be hard being a young man whose father is disappointed in him, especially at your age. Did you come to this place by choice, or where you drawn here by some other force? I think you know what I mean." Heather pursed her lips for a moment and then flipped to a page in the large book in front of her, turning it so that Peter could see inside.

"We happen to specialize in outlets. You would be surprised how often people come here just because they feel ... bored. Idle hands and all that. It sounds like what you need is to feel as if you're in control of something in your life." Being in control meant that you felt more powerful, more confident -- and that meant that it was harder to be shaken by other people opposing you.

"And as for a connection, I conduct periodic interviews with my clients to make sure they're staying on the right track and they feel as if they're getting what they paid for. I can assure you the utmost confidentiality in what we speak about -- and I should mention that I am working toward a professional degree in Psychology. The interviews are part of the service fee that we charge here at Impero."

She put a finger to the book -- pricing guides for hours and days of the week, for lists of services -- dominants and submissives with availability and numbers next to their names that indexed to pages with more detailed profiles. "You're welcome to take a cursory look. Their specialities are listed on the indexed pages, as well as their ... recommended rating. Beginner, advanced. Most of the girls and boys are quite flexible."
