Who: Elle Bishop and Richard Sanders
When: Tonight
Where: Picking her up at her place and then who knows
What: Her freaking out a little about being a kid
Warnings: Maybe some cursing?

Waking up in her normal body, back to her normal self, Elle was trying not to freak out too bad. She remembered being a nine year old kid who had made the electricity go out, and played games and stayed with Claude. Then had been rescued by Sylar and hugged him and got fed ice cream by him and Peter. Beyond weird and messed up and she didn't know how to react. At all. So she had paced around a lot.

Richard was coming to get her, which was good. It would be nice to see a face that hadn't seen her when she was a little kid. And he was nice, which meant she was probably going to end up seriously messing him up, because really who could trust her? She couldn't even trust herself. So she waited, not knowing what the heck was going to happen, but worrying. And trying not to freak out.

All right, so he'd been planning on seeing Elle for a few days, now. He'd even picked up a little trinket for her -- probably a little bit tacky, but he'd thought it was cute and she'd definitely sounded like she needed something cute right now. He lifted his hand and knocked on the door gently, adjusting his shirt.

Yes, he'd changed to pick up Elle -- into something a little nicer than what he wore to work. He half-smiled, hoping that he'd be able to at least lift Elle's spirits. Surely seeing her pretty face would lift his, if nothing else.

The door finally knocked and Elle went to go answer it. She just needed to calm down and stop freaking out before she did something stupid. Simple, right? Yeah right. For anyone who wasn't her. She smiled just a bit though when she opened the door, because he had been nice to her and that was rare lately.

"Hey.." she greeted.

Richard held out the small present (which he'd wrapped in plain brown paper) to her with a slightly more genuine smile once he saw Elle at the door. She looked as lovely as she always did.

"Hello. I hope I did not take too long."

Blinking a bit at what was in his hands, she reached out to take the bag and then looked back up at him. "What's this?" she asked instead of actually saying hello. Opening the bag a bit, she peered into it just slightly.

"Hi. No you're fine." She gave a small smile and then went to open up the bag to find out what was inside. "A present?"

He nodded hesitantly. "Yes, I thought that it might cheer you up." Which was why it had taken him so long to come over, really.

Pulling out the little toy, she smiled. It was cute, really cute. "Aw, that's so sweet, Richard. Thank you." It did make her feel better to know that someone cared. She leaned in and kissed his cheek. "It's very cute, thank you."

Richard couldn't help the blush that accompanied the kiss to his cheek. IT wasn't as if he was terribly experienced with girls.

"You are welcome. Would you care to join me for dinner or something else? Whatever you'd like." Because coming into her apartment would probably be presumptuous and rude.

Elle put the little trinket up on the shelf before coming back to him. She nodded, sticking her hands in her back pockets. "Sure dinner sounds good. Anything for a distraction." which she desperately needed. Being nine had messed with her mind.

"I'm up for whatever." her shoulders shrugged.

"Then I think I know where we could go." A small Italian restaurant he'd found that was a few blocks from the hotel -- he rather liked it, if only because the people there actually spoke Italian.

Richard smiled, offering her his arm.

"Then you can lead the way," especially since she didn't know where the heck they were going.

She put her arm through his, realizing this was another first for her and then let him lead the way out of her apartment.

He smiled lightly and nodded, leading them the short distance to the restaurant and greeting the woman at the door warmly -- she kissed his cheek and he laughed, shaking his head.

She also asked about Elle, but he merely tugged her off to a corner. She could make fun of him later. "Rosa is very sweet, but also very nosy," he offered by way of explanation.

Elle didn't know half of what was being said, so she just kind of smiled and stayed out of the way. But the woman at the door had amused her, making Richard blush like that. "Nosy? Oh, did she ask about me?"

She went and sat down at the table, finally letting his arm go. "What did you tell her?"

"I did not tell her anything."

He glanced to Elle, hesitating. He didn't think it was polite to ask what they were, either.

Elle couldn't bring herself to nod, "Yeah. They did.. I mean my dad did.. a bunch of experiments on me I barely remember because he kept me drugged up and used me as a weapon." she said with a straight face. She'd never said it out loud before.

It made her sit back and sigh. "I think I really need a drink."

That was terrible. No wonder she was as screwed up as she said she was...

He furrowed his brows and nodded, though, sweet-talking the waitress for a good five minutes before she sighed and brought them a bottle of rather fine wine.

He was working now -- he could afford it. "Then I do not understand how you can blame yourself for what happened. If he was using you ... then if you hurt people, it was not your fault."

"Thanks.." she mumbled, reaching to pour herself a glass of wine. She didn't think he'd actually get her a drink. But now she was going to drink a lot.

In fact she was already downing half the glass.

"Maybe.. it contributed it, but to the people I've killed? No, it's been me. I wasn't forced to do it, unless that was my assignment and most of the time.. it wasn't."

"But was it ... an accident? The first time, at least." Who knew what could happen to someone if they were rewarded for killing.

Hell, he'd been rewarded for using a musket the few times that he'd had to. Richard furrowed his brow at how quickly she downed her wine, though, and opted to sip his very slowly.

If he had to carry her back to her flat .. he wanted to be sober for it.

"The first time? Yeah the first time it was an accident. But the Company always had a rule to do whatever it took to get the right end results. Sometimes killing people.. was necessary. Lots of people don't understand that." But it was surprising how many did.

After finishing her first glass, she poured herself yet another.

"I never even left the building until I was 16."

Oh yes, he was going to have to carry her home. That didn't bother him as much as it should have.

He smiled a little ruefully. "I think that I would say they have not fought in a war, then. They underestimate what people will do if they're ordered to do so."

"Oh I know.. I know.. how easy it is to do something and not have a conscious about it," she smiled back the same kind of expression on her face.

She knew all too well. "Food's good though." she said off handedly.

"It reminds me of my mother a little."

Elle couldn't help but laugh at that, "Any place generally is better then anything they give you in any kind of institution." the food at the Company was disgusting.

"Oh? Is she here then? What does your dad think about that?" she was truly curious.

"Oh ... no. She is not here. I forgot."

He ducked his head. It was just as obvious that he missed his mother, ridiculous as that was. She was familiar, sweet ... loving.

And nobody here was really like that so far.
