Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Current mood: busy

Brb goin' to visit a Greek personification.
Who: Death, Pearl and Thanatos
Doing what: Thanatos wants to meet up with Death to catch up on old times, Death invites Pearl along for the fun of it.
When: Oct. 11, evening.
Where: The campus grounds and Thanatos's realm.
Warnings: 2 versions of Death meeting up and talking? Also, there might be ice cream eaten.

Standing at the school's gates, Death's outfit had changed from her usual, to a red button-up dress and matching gloves. Her feet were clad in white dress shoes and despite mentoning a fancy hat, she wasn't wearing one. Her necklace was the only thing from her regular outfit that was intact. Freshly polished, it glinted a bit. "Honestly, I don't know why he's suddenly so insistent." the Endless thought with a sigh. Hopefully it wasn't anything serious.

If it were, she trusted Thanatos to contact Destiny. Looking to the sky, Death briefly considered revoking her invitation to Pearl. Thanatos could switch moods as easily as Death switched hats, and when he was in a bad mood, you knew it and knew it well. Likewise, when he was happy, it was just as easily readable. Chewing on her lower lip, Death remarked quietly; "Let him be in a good mood tonight.."

Having taken Tele’s advice about bringing along a coat, Pearl wandered along the small sidewalks until she reached the fountain of the school, tugging her jacket on as she did and buckling it together to keep herself bundled. It wasn’t all that cold during the days just yet, despite the changing of the season — at least Pearl didn’t find it all that cool just yet. Apart from the coat, she was sporting a simple pink t-shirt and a rather plain looking pair of jeans; much different than the spirit medium garb she had been used to wearing all the time. Ever since joining up her classes this year, she’d gone to buy a few ‘normal’ looking outfits.

Approaching the gate, Pearl noticed the older woman and smiled brightly to her. “Hi Miss Tele!” She chirped rather brightly as she closed the distance between them. “It’s nice to see you, thanks for inviting me!”

Looking to Pearl, Death smiled and moved to tip her hat about a split second after she remembered that she wasn't wearing it. Going through the motion anyway, she admired Pearl's outfit for a minute and then gave a passing nod as she saw her coat. "Peachy keen, I was worried you'd forget."

"And you're welcome. If you're not going to put on your coat, then hold onto it like it'd run if it had the chance." Death hadn't been to visit Thanatos in ages, but if her memory was functoning correctly, it could be a kick in the head to newcomers. "When you're ready, let me know."

Just to be safe, she extended her dominate hand towards Pearl to grasp.

“Nope, I remembered!”

Pearl beamed, watching her tip an invisible hat and chuckled at that a bit. It was kind of silly, but silliness was something that the little girl certainly didn’t mind. Another thing she was rather pleased with was the fact that getting out of her room would keep her from dwelling on the revealing of the play’s parts in the upcoming day, so it was good for her to get out of her room for that, at the very least! Having found herself a lot busier since the school year began, she was enjoying getting out at all.

“Oh!” She nodded, buckling the coat together to keep it onto her body. She smiled to the older woman and nodded at the good advice. Noticing her hand, Pearl extended her own to take it. “I’m ready!”

Holding onto Pearl's hand, Death's ears were alerted to the sound of a ticking clock. With each tick, the campus faded away, and was gone in a matter of moments. It was orgel like, and Death was just getting used to it when it switched to being noticeably more lively. A voice, not singing, but narrating, sounded over the music.

"Thanatos is the one that no man can run from. Sitting in the moonlight, the never-changing marionette knew to think as much. As to why a girl who was kept awake was able to dream is something that I can't answer."

A clock struck, the darkness of the area being replaced with a neglected cottage, overpopulated with weeds and various flowers. The area had a soft glow to it, as a half full moon and stars appeared from behind a collection of clouds. Inside the cottage, sat a hooded figure, bent over a table, ignoring his visitors for the time being.

Checking herself over, Death didn't see anything out of the ordinary. "Well, that was new." she remarked. Looking to Pearl, she relaxed her grip. The ground was solid, there wasn't a need to hold on like they were going to run from a pack of angry tigers.

"You okay?" she asked.

For a while there, Pearl had completely been taken in by the sounds of a ticking clock changed to soft music. Her interest was piqued when the voice began to narrate a very short story and despite all other senses telling her not to, she very nearly let go of Death’s hand to try and stay in order to hear the rest of the story. But little did she know that wasn’t exactly how it worked. Having become stationary on the ground once more, the voice and music melted away as they came to a stop at their destination, Pearl very nearly frowned and asked to go back — just to see if there was more to the story or not. Despite growing in age and maturity; she was still a little girl after all and little girls loved to hear stories.

Once her hand was free from Miss Tele’s, the littler of the two brushed her jeans off as if when in, well, wherever it was they had just been, she had gotten them dirty somehow. It was more a tick or a habit than anything for her, just something to keep her hands busy. Raising her brows at the dark haired woman’s comment of that being new, Pearl opened her mouth to ask what she meant but was cut short by Death asking her if she was alright. Dropping the subject completely, Pearl glanced about the area and gave a small nod to the one who’d brought her here.

“I’m fine, that was really nifty…” Raising a hand, Pearl motioned to the cottage. “That’s where we’re going, right? It’s all glowing…” Or at least it looked kind of like it was glowing.

"That's it." Death answered, smiling when Pearl called the experience nifty. It was, really. Vaugely wondering if the story they'd been listening to even had an ending, Death started towards the cottage.

Almost instantly when her feet hit the grass, the hooded figure looked up from his work and towards the pair. Being caught off guard, Death toppled backwards and landed roughly on the ground. Wincing, she muttered "That wasn't very keen. Ow..", and stood back up.

The figure stood, vanishing and reappaearing at the door. Easing it open with a click, he eyed Pearl and then Death. When he spoke, his voice sounded old, which contrasted with his young build.

"It wasn't." he agreed, pushing back his hood. His white hair was pulled into a low ponytail, tied with a gold thread, and his eyes were a vibrant blue-green. Giving a bow to Pearl, Thanatos spoke again.

"Welcome, both of you."

“H-holy smokes!” Pearl winced herself as Death toppled to the ground, her small hands curled into fists, pressed to her chest as though she feared the girl would never get up again. Blinking, she lowered them to her sides once she stood back up, sighing a bit of relief. “A-are you alright, Miss Tele?” She frowned, reaching to brush a bit of grass off of the tuft of Death’s dress. Just trying to be a helpful guest, that’s all!

Glancing up upon hearing the voice, Pearl’s large eyes blinked a few times as the hooded figure spoke. The voice didn’t seem to match the small frame, but she didn’t really think about it much as it wasn’t the polite thing to do. He looked rather young, honestly he didn’t look like a person she had ever seen before, his hair was a color that she’d never been familiar with until moving to the school — it sort of looked like that one guy, Cecil? It was the only thing that matched his older sounding voice at least; the white hair.

Suddenly noting the bow, Pearl scrambled a bit in a small moment of mind frazzle, but she did manage to offer a bow in return, small and clumsy as it was. Once she was standing straight again, she even opted to lift her small hand and give a bit of a flat wave.

“Uhm, h-hello…!” She sounded friendly enough, although a bit nervous. The youngest medium had always been a bit of a nervous wreck when there were new people involved — she’d gotten it under control for the most part, but it did still happen from time to time.

"Hello, Pearl." Thanatos answered.

Muttering a "Thanks" as Pearl knocked some grass off of her outfit, Death glanced around the area and sighed. "So how long have you been here?" she asked, indicating how run down the place looked.

Thanatos shrugged. "Since when do I ever keep track of how I spend my time?" he countered. "Come in, I was about to make dinner."

Holding the door open for them both, Thanatos gestured to the inside of what was his current home. A wall sconce activated suddenly, bathing the area in a faint light and helping to liven it up.

Rarely one to turn down an invitation, Death looked to Pearl. "How about it? Hungry?"

It was safe to say that Pearl’s mind broke just a little bit when Thanatos mentioned her name. She was fairly certain that she had never met the man before and if she had, she had completely forgotten him — not to mention that she had also forgotten that she had given her name to him, had they indeed met before. While she was trying to work out how on earth it was possible for someone to know someone’s name without them giving it to the one who somehow knows it; she completely missed the notion of dinner in there somewhere.

Tele’s voice became what snapped her from her thought pattern, which she was getting completely and utterly lost in. Glancing up to the other female, she nodded having somewhat missed what was said but assumed whatever it was that was happening wasn’t something bad — she trusted Miss Tele to keep her safe while they were out and about, after all!

Glancing to the house as they approached it, Pearl smiled. “It’s a bit rundown, but it’s nice enough.” She shrugged lightly, it certainly wasn’t Fey Manor or the quads at Poseidon, but it seemed quaint and simple enough for one person to live inside. Of course, she was assuming that the young man (or was it old man?) lived alone in this little home. Once at the house, she peered inside to see if her assumption of just the man on his lonesome was living here, or not.

Thanatos had a good natured laugh at Pearl's comment, heading into the house. Clearing his throat, he called: "We have company, say hello."

There was a clacking noise as a female marionette with pink hair, wearing a blue and purple dress, made her way towards the group. Height wise, she came up to roughly Pearl's knee. Slowing down, she waved.

"Hello!" her voice had a bright tone, and she smiled.

Thanatos indicated the doll. "This is Rosite, my friend. Please, make yourselves comfortable; I'll have dinner ready in a bit."

The house, like the outside, appeared to be run down, but well furnished. The main room served as his living room and kitchen, with a hallway leading to a bathroom and a bedroom. There was also a small chest of drawers with 'Rosite's outfits' painted onto it; and a series of comfortable looking chairs.

Death looked around the room and smiled. "Not a bad place, really. Much smaller compared to your other home."

Thanatos gave a shrug and headed over to his refrigerator, opening it. "Smaller depends on the person, you realize."

Suffice to say, Pearl’s mind blew just a bit more as the doll walked about on her own, sort of like Pinocchio; only less cartoon or fable from a book and much more realistic. The talking threw her off as well, naturally she had heard of dolls that talked before but nothing in this manner — it was really strange to see it waltzing about like any normal member of society. Crouching down to meet the marionette’s eye-level with her own (or as close as she could get it), Pearl stared her vivid blues at the doll for a moment before extending her hand toward the doll to briefly touch her wooden shoulder.

She couldn’t help herself; “Is… Is this a real doll? I mean, a real life talking, walking alive doll?” How it was that everything was always so strange and new ever since arriving to the academy here in Poseidon, she didn’t know. Realizing that she probably shouldn’t have just reached out and prodded at the marionette like she was nothing but a prop, Pearl’s palms met with one another before her chest as though she was praying and her head inclined forward somewhat in an apologetic bow. “S-sorry, I shouldn’t just go touching at things…”

Rosite wobbled, nearly fell, but managed not to. Not looking over from his position in the kitchen, Thanatos answered.

"She's real, yes." There was the sound of a match being struck and the stove he had stood in front of came to life as the pile of logs inside were lit. Finding a pan, he added some oil and waited for the surface of the stove to warm up. Pulling down a small pot, he poured some milk into it.

Death walked over to one of the chairs, taking a seat. "Cocoa?" she asked, eying the milk. Thanatos chuckled.

"Call it a habit."

Rosite stood on her toes and reached up to tap Pearl's hands. "It's okay!" she replied. "You must not have marionettes where you come from."

Blinking at the feel of small wooden hands against her own palms, Pearl felt her cheeks heat up with a bit of a blush at the sheer amusement of it all. She shook her head lightly to Rosite, smiling somewhat cheerfully to the marionette’s words. “Well, not the kind that can move around on their own, anyway — unless you could that Pinocchio movie! But that’s just a movie, so…” She was apparently a bit more fixed on the doll than the other two in the room; but hearing them speak Pearl glanced up to them and smiled as the stove was being used.

“So… What’s for dinner?” She glanced at the word ‘cocoa’ toward Death and bit back asking if she could have a cup, not wanting to be rude.

"Souls of the lost." Thanatos deadpanned, as he moved the milk to three cups and then added cocoa powder. Letting the statement hang for a minute, he turned to look at Pearl and gave her a mishcevious grin to let her know that he had been teasing.

"Sukiyaki, and some bread to go along with it." Stirring the cocoa, and then pouring some of his own into a smaller cup for Rosite, he gestured towards the avaliable chairs. "Sit, sit! You don't have to keep standing on my account."

Rosite blinked as Pinocchio was mentioned and grinned. "He's so coo-" catching herself, she switched the subject. "I mean, right! Of course it's just a movie." Walking towards the kitchen/living room, she perked up at the mention of food.

Death eyed Thanatos in surprise. "You like Sukiyaki?"

"I've been known to eat it once in a while." he retorted, handing her a cup of cocoa, and then handing one to Pearl once she was close enough.

She wasn’t certain how much more mind blowing she should withstand. At this rate she was going to end up simply passing out in a heap on the floor, twitching and muttering about things that shouldn’t be — but Pearl’s eyes widened at the mention of lost souls and she very nearly toppled over in worry when he gave her the smirk. Feeling herself offer a bit of a weak smile back to him, laughing rather dryly and forced between a nervous smile that was made up of gritted teeth. Well that was a rather scary thought! Who would want to eat souls of the lost anyway? But then she was suddenly reminded of that Parsee girl and felt her stomach churn a bit, that girl really did freak her out just a tad bit with that feeding on humans thing.

To Rosite’s sudden correction of Pinocchio being ‘just a movie’, Pearl gaped and lifted a hand, index finger raised in the air. She opened her mouth to say something, but there were just no words that were eloquent enough for her to form a sentence with. Instead, she blinked a few times and then dropped her hand to her side, defeated. Getting up to follow the marionette into the kitchen where the others were, Pearl attempted to wrap her mind around it and simply blurted out to Rosite all of the sudden: “You mean he really is real too!?” Again, she just couldn’t help it.

When the mug was offered to her, Pearl blushed just slightly and took it from Thanatos with a nod of appreciation, taking a seat at the table since he offered it. “Oh!! Sukiyaki is really good, Mother made some once…”

"He is!" Rosite answered after drinking some of her cocoa. "I've never met him, but-" The marionette sighed. "Someday, maybe."

As Thanatos finished preparing the food and waited for it to cook, he took his own cup of cocoa and had a seat. "So you like it. Good, I was wondering about that. I'd hate to make something you wouldn't enjoy."

Busying herself with her own cocoa, Death had some and then looked at Thanatos. "So, why the sudden need to see me?"

"Later." he replied. "After we eat. There's no need to get into it now."

Biting her lower lip, but going along with it, Death nodded. "Fine. Later, then."
