Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Who: Kayla and James Logan
Doing what: Helping Kayla move into her new place
When: Tonight
Where: The campus! Specifically her new room.
Warnings: They start out nice and behave themselves, but they end up in a FTB because they are starcrossed lovers.

Logan approached the room with a little apprehension. He had on some work clothing. Just normal jeans and flannel t-shirt. He, James, was sure that he should be doing this. However he wasn't sure just what she was expecting. Logan didn't want to give her any ideas like he remembered anything or that he had fallen in love with her again.

She was beautiful. It was easy to see that. Logan shook his head as he approached the door though. He rubbed the back of his head for a moment before he moved into the doorway, hoping that Kayla was there or at least at home or nearby.

Kayla'd shed her t-shirt sometime earlier and now wore only her tanktop and pair of fadeed jeans. Her hair was pulled back into a loose ponytail, stray strands already falling loose against her face and neck. It was hard work, getting everything settled, after all. There were a number of boxes in the main room that had to be moved to her bedroom yet. All this talk with and seeing James again while knowing he remembered nothing of the past was difficult, but it was far better than not seeing him and not talking to him. She'd always known he was alive, but still, it was good to see him.

Too good maybe. She wasn't fooling herself, though. He didn't remember her; she was just another piece of a past that he ahd lost all traces of. But if she could help him fill in some of the pieces, she would be happy to do it.

Her arms were full of blankets that would go on her bed as she stepped past the doorway and caught sight of the man in the doorway. Offering him a smile, a natural sort of expression that took over her feature effortlessly, she paused and turned to face him. "James. Thanks for coming. I really do appreciate the help. It turns out I have too much stuff."

Tank top. Lovely. No really it was lovely on her and he was sure it wasn't supposed to be. Logan smiled when she said his name and came to where her stuff was at. He looked around and chuckled a little bit. She really did have a ton of stuff didn't she? He nodded a little bit in agreement. "You do have a bit of stuff don't you," he said as Logan leaned down and began to pick up boxes to carry in his arms.

He looked around, trying to keep his eyes off of her for now. "I don't think we should have too many trips. Maybe three or four at the most," he said as he smiled at Kayla. "If you're ready you can show me the way," he said having picked up a large number of boxes in his arms.

"Right! This way." It was a short walk, really, from where she had been staying in the overflow room to her new room in the quads. Her own arms were full, but she noted with a wry smile over her lips that he was making her burden look rather tiny by comparison. Well, that wasn't surprising either.

Arriving at her new quad, she shouldered against the door, backing up against it and holding it open so that he could make his way inside with his arms as full as they were.

Logan followed behind Kayla barely able to see the ground in front of him let alone her as she walked him to her new place. He could hear her though and followed along easily enough. After a few minutes they were at her new place.

James set down the boxes and looked around at the room. It was exactly the same as his had been. They were probably all the same, he hoped that Kayla had good roomates like the way that James seemed to have.

James? Was he calling himself that now? He needed to clear his head. "Where do you want these?" he asked as James looked around the barren room.

"Just over there..." she gestured inside the open door to what was going to be her room. She wandered over to the bed and dropped her armful of blankets and pillows and settled them on the bed. She could deal with making it up later. There would be time for that.

It was only a few more trips, but eventually they managed to get the rest of her things stacked inside her room. She'd deal with unpacking the boxes later. For now though she went to one box in particular and set it down on her desk. "Here. These are your things..." The ones she had mentioned before. Her smile now was still present but somewhat tentative, unsure.

James nodded and moved to the box taking a peek into it. He was hoping for something miraculous. Maybe a sudden surge of memory that would reveal everything that he had hoped for. Nothing. These things gave him nothing. The shirt was old and worn. It had seen a washing machine and clothes line too many times. James looked over at Kayla and idly wondered why she'd have only one shirt of his. The thought then hit him that it might have been something of his that she had worn on the occasion as a night shirt. He tried to imagine that and found that the image came to him rather quickly, including how the shirt barely covered up her...

Well enough of that. Logan put the shirt back into the box and looked at the knife. It was older, probably when he was a lumberjack or logger or whatever she had said he was. It was plain and really didn't hold anything for him. Nothing. Nothing here rang a bell for him. He shook his head. "I don't remember any of this stuff. None of it," he said almost disappointed.

Kayla frowned just slightly. Perhaps some part of her had hoped that some spark of memory might emerge from his looking at his old things. But no, there was nothing. Summoning a smile, she stepped over, closer to him. She settled her hand on his arm, shaking his head. "I'm sorry..."

And she was. It must be difficult for him to have lost so much of himself, of who he was. She wished she could help him find it. After all, she was a part of it. But that was something long gone, apparently. Even if she had found him again, that part of their past together was just that, a thing of the past. Still smiling, she looked up at him, that small smile still on her face.

Logan felt her hand on his shoulder and smiled. He turned to look at her and looked at her. He wished he could remember something about her. Even if it was that she was his mortal enemy and he should hate her for it. He reached up gently brushing a strand of her hair from her face. "You have nothing to be sorry for Kayla. You have been nothing but kind to me here, and I wish I knew a way to repay you for what you have done for me," he said quietly.

He was too close at the moment. Too close and she was probably going to do something stupid. And she knew it. That was the worst part of it. She was fully aware that even as she stepped that much closer and rose up onto her toes, that what she was doing was something she probably shouldn't. But at the moment, she decided she didn't care. He was here. He didn't remember but it was still him. So maybe this would be a kiss goodbye, of sorts. Lightly, tentatively, she pressed her lips to his in a brief, soft kiss.

James was a little taken aback by the kiss. He should be stopping it this very minute. She was in love with the man he was, not the man he was now. He couldn't provide what she wanted. He couldn't be the man that she wanted, that she needed.

All of those logical thoughts were drowned out immediately as soon as her lips touched his. The fire, the emotion, the passion. James had never felt such things before in his life... At least that he could remember. He turned and moved Kayla against the nearby wall and deepened the kiss with her, his hands on her sides as she felt his chest pressing against hers.

Logic was a distant voice that whispered still that she was making a mistake here, that her better senses were not in control. Of course they weren't. She half gasped into the kiss as she felt the wall behind her back, felt him pressed so close to her. She shifted then, reaching up to set a hand against his cheek before looping her arms around his neck. It wasn't him. He didn't remember her. But he felt the same as he always had and that was more than enough to silence the voices and misgivings in her mind.

Her arms around his neck was like a signal to him. Somewhere deep in his mind James knew that was a signal for him that she wanted it too. His hands went to her tank top, and James slowly began to pull it up and off of her.

With that obstacle out of the way James picked her up, and went to the mess of blankets on the floor. They would have to do for now. He lay her down and returned to the embrace, the kiss deeper as his tongue darted into her mouth, and his hands began to work on her jeans. James didn't care that what he was doing was wrong and possibly taking advantage of whatever feelings Kayla had for him... He needed this. This feeling, he wanted more of it.
