Who: Namine and Alphonse Elric
Doing what: Lunch and ... Kitten shopping?
Where: Eventually the pet store, after eating lunch in some random scenic place.
When: Saturday afternoon!
Warnings: Horrible, insane amounts of cute. Maybe some emo.

Namine sat, prim and proper on the grass of some surprisingly beautiful part in town. She'd met with Alphonse in their quad and left with him. It was illogical to set up a meeting spot when they lived in the same quad and ... When all she really had to do was open her door.

So far, Namine was having a surprisingly good time, Alphonse had a kind air about him, personable and sweet, something she hadn't encountered since Sora.

Sora.

Alphonse reminded her so much of him, but ... He was also very different. She nibbled on the sandwiches he bought for them, she knows he's speaking but her mind is lost in thought, her eyes preoccupied.

Might want to snap her out of it, Al.

Alphonse was currently rather involved in keeping his sandwich from dripping, employing a napkin in his effort to keep what was inside where it was. They'd been eating in peaceable silence for a few moments, but Alphonse found he didn't find the silence awkward. Namine was a nice girl, and really he was glad he had a quadmate he got along so well with.

He was vaguely aware that when he did start some idle chatter Namine didn't say much. After the continued silence, the long haired boy twisted slightly so that he was looking at the girl's face. He smiled somewhat hesitantly, his brown eyes searching her face for some clue. Was she thinking about something? That must have been it.

"Namine! What are you thinking about? Is the sandwich okay...?" He hadn't gotten her something she didn't like, had he? Alphonse frowned. "If you don't like it, you can have some of mine, instead."

"Ahh?" She snapped out of her daze easily enough, but with some amount of surprise.

"No, it isn't that," she gave him a reassuring smile, "I really like it, thank you." She had already thanked him of course, but it didn't hurt to do it again.

"I was ... You remind me of my other friend, the only other one I've made in my life."

Namine is surprised at how easily she speaks about this, she hadn't thought she could handle talking about Sora.

"I just miss him," she tried to keep up that reassuring smile, but it was tainted by the sadness and pain in her eyes.

Alphonse's frown grew slightly, but he managed somehow to look thoughtful. "I'm sorry, Namine..." He paused, but continued only a moment later. "But you shouldn't be sad remembering your friends...! I'm sure whoever he is wouldn't want you to frown because of him, right?"

The blonde boy nodded to himself as he sat back up, and took a quiet sip of his drink. "Besides, today is supposed to be fun, Namine..." His voice was obviously tinged with a tone of concern. He wanted Namine to enjoy today, since it was supposed to be something they were going to enjoy together. "You'll see him again, won't you?"

She laughed then, softly, gently. "You are right, he wouldn't want me to frown, he would prefer it if I smiled." And smile she would! For Alphonse and for Sora.

"That reminds me," she said "I thought of something special we could do together! Something other then getting cats, I mean." It had taken a lot of thought and some research, but she had found something! Namine was more than proud of herself. "But it's a secret, I will take you to it after we go to the pet shop." She winked at him, trying to be playful before finishing her sandwich and drink.

She stood, offered her hand to him and smiled, she enjoyed her time with Alphonse, after all.

"Ready?"
