Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Current mood:nervous

Who: Honey & Jean
Doing what: Having tea, and then reliving a few of Honey's memories to help the kid start to understand his conflicting emotions.
Where: Gardenia North, Honey's room. Honey's mind/memories for the majority of it.
When: August 14, early evening.
Warnings: Cuteness, innocent sugar roses being sacrificed in boiling cups of tea, followed by general creepiness and a lot of confusion once the memories have been accessed.

Honey had moved to work fairly quickly after reading Jean's most recent comment. While he was still getting used to the new quad, it hadn't taken him very long to find the kitchen's tea pot. Once the water had been added and the pot was warming on the stove; Honey had located the box of sugar roses he had bought earlier that day. They were delicate enough to pass for spun glass, but according to the label, and the fact that Honey had purchased them from a bakery; they were in fact sugar.

Setting the box onto a tray, Honey located two cups and a new box of Earl Grey tea. "Huh.." he murmured, eying the box for a moment before he opened it and removed two tea bags.

Usa-chan was seated in Honey's room, on the bed. Since Honey would be working on getting things ready, he didn't want to risk dropping anything while trying to juggle the makeshift tea service. Picking up the tray, Honey slowly made his way into his room, glancing around. His desk and bed had been swapped position wise, which would take him a while to get used to.

Setting the tray onto the desk with a soft thump, Honey looked to Usa-chan for a moment. "Do you think this is safe?" he asked the doll.

Usa-chan just sat where he had been placed, not answering.

Returning to the kitchen, Honey looked at the tea pot and listened as it began to bubble. There wasn't much left to do except wait for Jean to arrive. Well, that and mentally prepare himself. "I wonder what memories I'll see..? I know, kind of, but.." But none of his memories of Krycek were pleasant.

Taking a breath, Honey sighed. "But if this can help, then I'll do it. Besides, I already asked Professor Grey to come over." With a look towards the quad's front door, Honey took a seat at the kitchen table, occasionally glancing to the tea pot to make sure it was okay.

She had stared at the flat screen of her laptop after the last few comments to the young blond boy she’d grown fond of. The new head of the infirmary had been seated in her office when the ping of her computer let her know someone had left a message for her. It was then that she had spoken with Honey only to be a bit taken aback at the request. She could understand his concern and desire to move forward with his understanding of the situation he was going through, but reliving memories didn’t always come with the luxury of happiness and joy throughout. Jean honestly didn’t get any good feelings from the man called Krycek—she’d never really met him, heard stories and read about him, but nothing had been any good about him.

With a light sigh, she pulled her white overcoat off her shoulders and closed the lid of her laptop. Deciding that she would return for her things later, Jean simply pocketed the keys to her office and got up from her chair, moving to the door where she shut off the light and headed out, closing the door behind herself. She’d made note of the new area where Honey was living and it didn’t take her that long to find the quad. Curling her hand into a fist, she gathered her bearings a moment and knocked on the door, waiting to be let in. She was nervous, rightly so—after all it wasn’t very often that she was asked to worm her way into people’s minds.

The tea pot began to sing as Jean's knock sounded. Starting, Honey spilled from his chair, landing in a comical heap. Pulling himself to his feet quickly, he moved to transfer the pot into his room calling, "I'll be right there!" as he did so.

Once the tea service had been set up, and the stove turned off, Honey walked to the door and eased it open. "Good evening." he said, forcing a bright note. It wasn't that Honey wasn't glad to see Jean, he was just nervous about things, and was trying to keep his mind from overloading with possibilities. A second's pause and then Honey remembered his manners.

"S- Sorry! Please, come in!"

“Good evening, Honey.” Understanding his nerves, Jean smiled as warmly as she could to the boy and nodded softly when he apologized.

Stepping past him, she moved into the common area of the new quad. It was nice enough; she noted that it was pretty well just the same as the other with things in various different positions and the like—much the same for her change as well. For some reason, the older of the two felt a bit awkward here with the young man all of the sudden. There wasn’t anything that he was doing, she simply felt a tad strange for coming to visit with mostly the sole purpose of invading his mind. Jean never really did enjoy the fact that other people’s thoughts could be hers to know; willingly or not.

Taking a breath, she smiled to him. “How have you been, kiddo?”

Relaxing a bit as she smiled at him, Honey smiled back and then moved to close the front door. "I've been fine." he answered, stepping over to stand at her side. But that was his default response to things. Taking a breath and momentarily biting his lip, Honey shook his head and tried again.

"I've been fine; but I've also been confused." he said quietly. Looking from his spot in the common room, Honey began walking towards his room, going slowly. The tea service wasn't going to leave on its own. 'Confused' was putting it lightly. "Really confused." he added for clarification.

"Oh, and busy, too." Giving a sheepish grin, Honey rubbed the back of his head. "But everyone has been by the look of the network. Moving's a lot harder than it looks." Not that the concept was new to the boy, it's just that it didn't happen that often.

Reaching his room, Honey stood against the open door, holding it for Jean. "How about you, Professor?"

“It certainly is…” She meant of course, about the moving. Glancing at him when he’d asked of herself, Jean gave a light shrug and smiled to the boy once more. “Oh, I’ve been busy too. With moving from my personal quad to another, as well as clearing out my office to move my things into the infirmary where I’ll be working from now on. I suppose that’s been keeping me busy.” She nodded. ‘As well as my mind occupied.’

Jean, however, wasn’t there to talk about her move of professions and how awkward it was to suddenly be running things at the infirmary. Her gaze followed him to the door to his room and as the door was held opened, she moved to go inside. Once in his room, she simply stood and waited for him to come along with her, choosing not to sit down just yet. Her nerves were sort of on high, as it were, she’d prefer if he were to lead her around for the time being, after all she would be taking the lead at some point in the evening.

“I’m sorry that you’ve been so confused, Honey.” She frowned, really hoping that what he was asking for would help bring him to a solution, after all. “I’ll do what I can to help, I just hope that it works for you.”

The room had a few boxes that still needed to be unpacked, but for the most part, Honey's room was neat. A few Magma Rangers action figures stood guard on his computer desk, with the tv show poster on the wall behind the desk.

Jean's comment gave Honey a brief pause. "I hope it works, too." Realizing how rude he was being, Honey quickly indicated the room. "Ah, sorry! Please, sit down wherever you'd like."

Moving to sit down on the floor, just in case Jean wanted to sit on his bed or at his computer desk, Honey tried to quiet the doubt that was going through his head. Finding something to talk about, Honey looked up at Jean from his position. "Did you have a lot to move?"

Not having thought on it a moment that Honey might be being rude, Jean simply glanced about before noticing the desk chair and sat down on it softly, hoping that she hadn’t just taken Honey’s spot. For some reason, there was just something odd to her about sitting on a student’s bed—as close as she might be with him or not, it just struck her strange. Then again, it might have been her nerves being insane with her, too. She noticed that he sat to the floor and felt a bit of ease that she hadn’t taken his chair.

“Oh,” she shrugged lightly, crossing her legs and setting her palms to her knee. “Well there was definitely quite a bit to move, especially since I wasn’t only moving my personal items from one room to another, but I think I have mostly everything in my new office.” Unlike Honey, though, Jean’s personal room was packed with boxes as she hadn’t really given herself time to unload her things, deciding that her room could wait while her job could not.

Taking note of the small amount of boxes, she smiled to attempt easing the worry that she was certain they both shared. “It seems like you’ve moved in quite nicely already, almost completely unpacked!”

Honey blinked, coming out of his thoughts as Jean's words reached his ears. "Hm?" Looking confused momentarily, he looked to the boxes as if seeing them for the first time and then remembered what they were. "O- Oh. Yeah, almost. Except for a few things."

Letting his mind wander, he fell quiet again for a few moments. When he finally spoke again, it was with a quiet, yet fearful, resolve. "Whenever you're ready." Forcing himself to look at her, Honey took a slow breath. "It's- I don't doubt myself or anything." he said, more to himself than to her, continuing as the words spilled out of his mouth. "I'm just-"

Biting his lower lip and pulling his knees to his chest, Honey wrapped his arms around his legs. "Scared. That's all. But it's okay to be afraid." Turning his gaze to the carpet, Honey took another breath.

"Even if I said I wasn't going to be anymore."

A pause.

"It's okay." And that was said in a last ditch effort to convince himself that he was being honest.

Watching him made her break a little as he struggled a moment with his fears, but she shook her head lightly. “It’s perfectly fine to be afraid. This isn’t a normal occurrence for people to go through, you know?” She smiled, taking a small breath herself. Watching him, she glanced to the floor with a bite of her lip. Taking a moment, Jean nodded to him.

“Alright, if you think you’re ready, sit on the bed across from me, okay?”

Well, it was now or never.

Rising worldessly from his spot, Honey moved to his bed and regarded it with aprehension. It was just a bed. "Sit down, Mitsukuni. It's fine." he thought, easing himself onto the mattress, listening as the springs bent to accommodate him. Inhaling and holding the breath, he exhaled slowly and turned until he was looking at Jean. His position wasn't a dangerous one, so there was no real danger of falling off of it. Collapsing backwards was another thing entirely.

"I'm ready." Tensing up, Honey waited for things to begin.
