Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Who: Bart and Rose
What: A friendly date
When: Almost instantly after this
Where: Texas
Warnings: none so far

Bart saw the response, allowed for a minute or two to pass by, then seemed to vanish from the spot he was standing to appear almost instantly at Rose's new dorm wearing blue jeans and a red shirt. He raised his fist and knocked on the door. He leaned against the side of the building as he waited for Rose to answer. The main reason for him wanting to go out today was because he was bored, and he asked Rose because she was cute and hanging out with a cute girl is always more fun than hanging out alone.

Jeans and a union jack t-shirt decorated the blond’s body as she moved from her room, closing the door behind herself as she did. Tugging on a jean coat that had been through time and space with her many times over on trips with the Doctor, Rose moved through the common area and headed for the door at the sound of the knock. Who was she to turn down a free meal—one that might involve some delicious golden brown chips? Tugging opened the door she smiled to the young man that she’d just barely shared a quad with before the sudden move.

“Hey,” she stepped out of the quad, closing the door behind herself—not bothering to ask him how the hell he’d gotten there so fast. When it came to really odd things, Rose had taken to not bothering to think anything of it. She’d seen more things that were stranger than a boy with the ability to get somewhere fast. “ready to go?”

"Hey," Bart replied as the girl came out of her dorm with a grin. He was glad she was wearing what she was wearing since that was something that would allow them to blend in immediately when they got to the place.

"Definitely, but I need you to do something right quick," the fun part about his ideas was always how to show off. He didn't want everyone knowing what he could do, since Ollie and Clark would have gotten on his butt for that. That didn't mean he couldn't have some fun with his powers, "Could you close your eyes and take a deep breath for me?"

“Close my eyes and take a breath?” She repeated the words spoken.

An odd request, but those were some things that Rose was rather accustomed to as well; of course not with this young man, but they were normal for her in either case. Still, she quirked a brow and gave a light shake of her head, chuckling soft. The blond nodded, though. Giving a soft shrug, she did as asked and closed her eyes, taking the deep breath as ordered. Whatever the hell it was for, she didn’t know and was a bit interested. The need for closing her eyes, though, threw her off a bit.

In one swift motion, Bart swept her into his arms and moved so fast that the two of them were outside a small house in Texas in a little under two seconds. He set her back on her feet, "You can open your eyes now." The house was a mom and pop place called Rancher's House. He kept his eyes on her, hoping for an impressed look. He had made the trip in record time, even for him. His stomach was feeling like it was on empty now though. It was definitely time to eat. "If you love burgers and fries, you'll love this place. They make this one burger called the belt buster, biggest burger you ever seen." Of course he was usually the only one who could finish one of those.

Bart was rather lucky that Rose hadn’t opened her eyes and smacked him for picking her up like that without having asked. Everything went by in a rather deep gust of wind to her—she briefly wondered if this was what the TARDIS must feel like (supposing it could feel) when it was whizzing around in space when she was placed onto the ground once more. Stumbling at first, since the ‘ride’ had been rather fast and she wasn’t used to moving at such speed, Rose opened her dark eyes and took a look around. Well, this certainly wasn’t any of the places near the school that she knew of—actually, she wasn’t all that certain that the school was anywhere near here. This area didn’t look at all familiar with the Brit.

“Where…?” Raising her brows curiously, she glanced to Bart. “How on earth did you…?” She was used to awkward things, but this was a bit more awkward than she was used too. Giving a bit of a smirk, impressed with whatever it was that he did, Rose glanced over the burger place he was talking about. The food sounded exceptionally large, she wasn’t all that certain she’d manage to eat everything, but she could try.

“I don’t know how you did that, mate,” Arms folded over her chest with a grin, “but that’s quite the trick.”

Very glad she didn't smack him for picking her up like that, Bart just smiled broadly at the expression on the cute girl's face.

"Texas," Bart answered, "And a magician never reveals his secrets," he added with a grin. Pleased with her response he held out his arm gesturing for her to go first and said in an attempted cowboy accent, "After you, Little Lady."

Bart was looking forward to this, since he was so hungry. He liked this place for the primary reason that it only took three burgers to satisfy him, since their burgers were almost the size of a person's head.

Texas was not the area she assumed she would be at. For a moment, she was a bit taken aback and thus had to look about once more. It certainly didn’t look like the peninsula of Poseidon, after all—Texas was the place to be, apparently.

“Ohh, a magician, are you?” She asked with a laugh. For some reason, she assumed that the Doctor might have given the same kind of explanation for some of the things he’d done in the past. Sadly for Bart, Rose’s mind often drifted back and forth to the time traveler she had gotten rather close to. With any luck, though, from being somewhat cross with the bloke—although not so much anymore really—she wouldn’t be doing so very often on this, date was it? She wasn’t all that certain and she didn’t really bother to ask, either.

Giving a bit of a snerk to the attempt at the accent, Rose raised a hand to pretend tipping a hat, even though she wasn’t wearing one and moved to the door, going inside of the restaurant. She looked around, deciding that it—like many other things in this place—didn’t at all remind her of home. It looked more modern than the small places in London and after having been in Pete’s World for a while, nothing really looked the same anymore. Glancing to a booth, she moved along the aisle, ducking into one of the seats just barely missing a waitress carrying a tray; for which she was thankful. Rose didn’t really want to be the cause of a mess, after all.

She already knew what she wanted, and that was just a large thing of chips and a nice burger. Big or not, she’d attempt to eat it and if she couldn’t there was always the prospect of take out, wasn’t there?

Bart followed Rose to the booth she chose and sat across from her. He glanced at the menu quickly and decided on a few things to eat. His super fast metabolism was one of the most annoying things that went along with his speed, but at the same time, it did allow him to try everything he wanted on the menu without worrying if he could finish it. And that was probably what he was going to wind up doing. Hopefully Rose wouldn't be too put off by it, but, after the dorm switch and the run to Texas, he needed to eat.

When the waitress emptied her tray and made her way back over to Rose and Bart, she pulled out a pad and looked at the both of them, "Aren't ya'll so cute together," she said with a smile, "Sorry about almost runnin into you, Sweetie. What can I get for you?"

"I'd like three of the biggest burgers you've got, please," Bart answered the woman, "a large order of fries, a coke, and whatever she wants."

The waitress laughed at first, but then saw that Bart's face was serious and looked more awestruck now, but still turned to Rose, "And you, Sweetie?"

Three? Damn, the boy could eat, apparently. Not even Mickey ever really ate that much and Rose had assumed he was a pig for most of the time they were dating. She glanced to the waitress, choosing to simply dismiss the comment about their near collision and then glanced to the menu for a mere moment before shrugging her shoulders in reply.

“Just a burger and chips—er, fries. Whatever.” Damn lack of it being England, so long as she didn’t get a bag of crisps instead of fries; she’d be fine, especially since she corrected herself with the term that Americans seemed to be a bit more accustomed to hearing. She’d not even bothered with the menu to look over what there was to drink here, it seemed as though most places she’d been to were under the mind control of the coke products, after all, so she simply asked for coke to drink, and left it at that.

Once her order was taken, she glanced to Bart and arched a brow, smirking at him. “Three whole huge burgers, hmn? That’s quite the beef, mate.”
