Continued from here.

"Oh God, Fred," Carson groaned as he pressed his hips up, meeting each of her downward thrusts. Their lovemaking was faster and more frenzied that morning than it had been the night before, mainly because they knew they didn't have a lot of time before they had to be at the hospital for their shifts.

It was no less amazing, though.

Before long, he felt himself getting closer to falling and losing to control, especially as Fred began tightening around him. He pushed into her hard as her fingers dug into his skin, and he gasped, knowing that he wasn't going to last.

The moment Fred came, squeezing his cock, Carson fell hard and let out a cry of his of own as he started twitching inside her.

Lifting his arms up, he held her against him tightly as he caught his breath, feeling her shudders against him. "Every morning," he murmured. He had fallen for this woman...and fallen hard. "I like that idea."

Nudging her head up, he gave her a deep kiss. He didn't want to move, but he knew they had to, so he gently helped her to shift off of him. Once he had got the condom off and cleaned up, he looked at the time.

"I should run to my quarters to grab a clean uniform," he said. "Want me to wait until you're ready or come back once I've got it? I thought we could...head over together."

Even though Fred wanted to spend the rest of the day in Carson's arms, she knew they needed to get ready for work. It wouldn't look good if two department heads didn't show up. So with a soft sigh, she got off him and nodded. "Sounds good. Just give me fifteen minutes to get cleaned up and get Sammy ready to go," she said before giving him a soft kiss.

After Carson left, Fred got up and cleaned up before putting on a clean uniform. She pulled her hair up before she went to the kitchen and grabbed some apples for Sammy before grabbing the bag of donuts. The coffee was already cold so she dumped it out before throwing the cups away.

"Lets go," she said to Sammy. The rufus followed her to the door, and walked out with her.

They made their way to Carson's quarters, and Fred smiled when she saw him standing there. She hadn't realized how much she missed him, even though she had just seen him. "Hey," she said as she leaned over to kiss him. "I missed you."

Fred knew it sounded a little silly but she didn't care. Pulling back, she reached down and took Carson's hand. "Shall we?" she asked as Sammy started to trot off without them.

Carson nodded and kissed Fred once more before gathering his stuff and getting dressed so he could head to his quarters. Once he got there, he quickly stripped again and washed up. It didn't take him long, and soon he was dressed in his uniform, ready for his shift.

He smiled as he stepped out into the corridor to wait for Fred. Part of him still couldn't believe this had finally happened, but he was unbelievably happy. Fred was everything he could had ever asked for. She was amazing.

When she arrived, he reached out and took her hand, smiling. She had missed him? A warm feeling ran through him at that. "I missed you too," he told her, returning her kiss. "Let's go."

Together, they walked down to where the hospital was located in the city. Carson was pretty sure everyone was looking at them because he had a wide, goofy grin on his face.

"Doctor Beckett! I'm glad you're here! We have several patients waiting," one of the nurses called out when they arrived. Sighing, Carson looked over at Fred.

"Lunch, right?" he asked before kissing her.

Fred felt herself swoon a little when Carson said he had missed her. It was a nice feeling to know she was missed. As they walked to medical, she thought of how nice it would be if they could spend the morning working on something. However, the plans flew when the nurse told Carson he had patients waiting.

"Lunch," she said before kissing him goodbye.

After Carson was gone, Fred went to her office with Sammy and sat down at her desk. As she waited for her laptop to boot, she went over her schedule for the day. She had nothing planned, which was good. She didn't want to miss out on her lunch plans with Carson.

Once her laptop was booted, she started to look through her e-mail, deleting the ones she didn't care about. She was in middle of reading one from the head of the medical department when there was a light knock on her door. Looking up, she smiled when she saw it was Tess and Tess' daughter Tabitha.

"Fred!" Tabitha cried before she ran over and climbed into Fred's lap. The little girl looked up at her with her big blue eyes and kissed her cheek.

"Hey, Miss Tabby," Fred said before she hugged the toddler against her. She then looked over at Tess. "Everything all right?"

"Well, Doctor Waterson wants to do scans of my lungs on a weekly basis, and since the daycare wasn't expecting Tabby today, I was wondering if you could watch her for a while. He wants to also do a quick biopsy of my right lung," she explained.

Fred knew she couldn't say no to Tess. The young girl had been one of the survivors of the chemical explosion on Sharka. Those who survived came to Atlantis, and Fred was new and working emergency medicine that night. Tess was five months pregnant with Tabitha and Fred had befriended her. Now Tess, like so many of the survivors, were slowly dying because their lungs were deteriorating.

"It'll be my pleasure," Fred said as Tabitha squirmed off her lap and went to play with Sammy.

Tess thanked her and left. Tabitha was a quiet little girl and let Fred work. She only bugged her went she needed to use the restroom and when she wanted her morning snack. When it became close to lunch, Fred called down and ordered some food to be brought up. After it arrived, she set up a little picnic on the floor and waited for Carson to come as she put Tabitha's dark blonde hair into ponytail. When he did, she smiled at him.

"I thought a picnic would be nice. Plus, I want you to meet someone," she said before she pointed at Tabitha. "This is Tabby. And Tabby, this is Carson."

"Hi!" Tabitha said as she waved a chicken nugget at him.

Carson spent the morning taking care of several patients, most of them from an accident in one of the labs. Luckily, no one was hurt badly, but it did take a while to get to all of them.

"How are things going?"

Looking up as he finished bandaging the forearm of one of the scientists, Carson smiled at Luka Kovac, the hospital's chief medical officer. "It's going all right. Been a bit of a mad morning," he told him.

"I heard. Looks like everything is under control, though."

Carson nodded. "Just finishing up here."

Luka smiled and looked over at the scientist. "He do a good job for you, Doctor Manning?"

"Great," Manning said.

"Keep the bandaging dry and stop by every morning for the next week so I can check the burn and change it," Carson said.

Nodding, Manning hopped down off the exam bed and headed off. As Carson started putting the equipment away, Luka patted his shoulder. "You're doing a great job, Carson. Keep up the good work."

"Thanks, Luka."

Once he was done cleaning up, Carson looked at the time and saw that it was time to meet Fred for lunch. Heading up to her office, he knocked on the door before stepping inside. Fred was there with a little girl, a picnic spread out on the floor.

"Well, hello, Tabby," he said with a grin before walking over to join them. He leaned over to kiss Fred softly before sitting down with them. "So, Tabby are you a friend of Fred's?"

"Yep!" she said with a emphatic nod. "She helped take care of my mommy!"

"Did she? I bet she did a great job."

Fred grinned at Carson and returned his kiss before watching him interact with Tabby. He was wonderful with children, and seeing him talk to the little girl made her feel better. Especially considering what Fred knew she needed to tell him. Shrugging, Fred looked at Carson. "I did an okay job," she sheepishly said.

She looked over at Tabby, smiling when the toddler plopped down beside Sammy and started to babble to the rufus as she ran her hand over his fur. Fred reached out and picked up a brown paper bag that held a sandwich, apple, cookies and juice for Carson and handed it to him. "Tabby's mom was one of the survivors of the chemical explosion on Sharka," she said, knowing she didn't have go into details about it - everyone in the Milky Way knew about the explosion. "I had been here for a week and had to help in ER that night. Tess was one of the last they brought in. She was a few months pregnant with Tabby and so scared. She was afraid of losing her like she had lost her husband and family. Tabby is very healthy but Tess...well, I'm sure you know about how the survivors' lungs deteriorate over time."

Fred paused for a moment and looked down at her hands. "Doctor Waterson, the head of the Internal Medicine department, has been working with Tess. He has slowed the process down a little but she probably won't make it another six months." She took a deep breath. "Thing is...I'm Tabby's legal guardian now and when the time comes, I'll be given full custody of her. The adoption papers have been drawn already because Tess wants to be able to sign them herself when she knows it's time." She looked up at Carson and took another deep breath. "I probably should have told you this before we got involved with each other. I'll understand if you don't want to be with someone who is about to become a mother to a talkative toddler."

Carson raised his eyebrows at Fred. From what he understood, she was one of the most respected doctors at the hospital, and that didn't happen from just being okay. Doctor Kovac seemed to like her and her work quite a lot.

Her modesty was adorable, however, and it made feel that much more attracted to her.

Taking the bag with his lunch from her, he opened it up and took out his food, listening as she explained about Tabby's mother. He knew about the Sharka explosion. It had been such an awful incident that should never have happened, and those who had survived were slowly succumbing to the aftereffects of the chemicals they had been exposed to.

"That poor woman," he said softly. He had met a few survivors who had been transferred back to earth. What they were going through was horrible.

When Fred then explained that she was take custody of Tabby when her mother died, Carson felt his heart swell. She really was an amazing woman.

"You think I wouldn't want to be with you because you're going to be adopting a wee child who's about to lose her mum?" he asked. Leaning over, he cupped his hand to her cheek. "Fred, that's probably one of the most wonderful things I've ever seen someone do for another. Of course, I still want to be with you."

He looked over at Tabby, smiling as the little girl started giggling when Sammy put his paw on her chest. "And however I can help, I will. All you have to do is ask."

Fred looked over at Carson as he spoke. She was utterly amazed by how wonderful of a man he was. Her lips curled up in a small smile when he cupped her face. "You're the wonderful one for being so understanding, Carson. I love you," she whispered before leaning over to softly kissed him. Fred had been waiting for the right moment to say the words, and this seemed like the perfect moment.

Pulling back, she smiled at him and looked over at Tabby, who was staring at them. "Get married?" she asked them.

Fred found herself blushing. She shook her head and crawled over to where Tabby was and started to tickle her. "Not yet, sweetie. Maybe someday," she said as she looked over at Carson and shrugged.

Squeaking, Tabby squirmed out of Fred's arms and ran over to Carson. "Save me, Carson," she giggled.

Laughing, Fred started to move toward Tabby and Carson. When she got to the little girl, she started to tickle her again. The little girl giggled and snuggled against Carson. "You like Carson?" she asked.

"Yeah. He's fun to cuddle with," Tabby said.

"That he is," Fred said with a grin.

Carson smiled at Fred when he called her wonderful. Then when she said she loved him, he felt his heart seize in his chest for a moment. So many times the previous night, he had wanted to say that to her, but wasn't sure that she would have been ready. So to hear her say it...

"I love you too," he told her, looking into her eyes once they kissed.

Just then, Tabby asked about them getting married and Carson found himself warming. He knew, of course, that marrying Fred would be wonderful, but again, he wasn't sure that either of them were ready for that, considering that they had just started a relationship. So when she shrugged at him, he gave her a smile before Tabby ran into his arms to get away from Fred's tickling.

"I've got you, sweetheart," he said with a laugh, holding her. He adjusted his arms around her when she cuddled closer and blushed a bit when both girls said they liked to cuddle him.

"Well, that means a lot coming from two very adorable girls," he said before leaning over to kiss Fred again.

Just then, there was a knock on the door and Luka Kovac stuck his head in, his eyes widening when he saw them on the floor as he shifted uncomfortably. "Oh...erm...Agent Sheppard called. He needs both of you to accompany his team on an off-world mission this afternoon. He said he would send the information to both of you."

Fred grinned. "You're pretty adorable yourself," she said before leaning over to kiss him. When she heard the knock on the door, she quickly pulled back and looked at Luka. Fred brightly blushed and nodded her head. "Thanks, Luka." She then looked at Carson and back at Luka. "Have you ate yet? We have plenty of food."

Clearing his throat, Luka rubbed the back of his neck and looked at him. "Oh, um, I'm actually going to meet Doctor Hayes for lunch. We have a few things to discuss regarding his department," he said before giving them both a smile. "Maybe some other time. I haven't been on a picnic for a while."

"Whenever you want," Fred said before Luka left. After he was gone, Fred reached up and grabbed her laptop. She looked through her messages, stopping when she came to the one from John. "They want us to go to a temple with them. They believe the people missing from the Gemini outpost are there and they need doctors and people with the ATA gene."

She handed the laptop to Carson so he could read the message, too. As he did, Tabby crawled into Fred lap and cuddled close, and closed her eyes. The little girl was obviously tired so Fred softly hummed to her while rocking her.

Carson felt a bit embarrassed that Luka had been the one to walk in on them. He had a lot of respect for the other man and hoped that he didn't think they were trying to be disrespectful somehow. That was the lost thing he wanted Luka to think.

At least he didn't seem to upset with them and seemed to actually consider having lunch with them before telling them he couldn't.

"Aye, another time then," Carson said with a nod.

Once Luka had left, he looked down at Tabby, laughing when she reached up to pat his cheek. "Scratchy!"

"I didn't have time to shave this morning," he told her as she continued to rub his cheek with the palm of her small hand. He looked up at Fred, tilting his head when she told him where they'd be going with Agent Sheppard's team. He gently set Tabby on the floor and took the laptop from her to read the message. He could see why they wanted a couple of doctors along.

"I guess once we're done here, I should go get a couple of med kits together for us," he said before putting the laptop back up on the desk.

He looked down at Tabby and smiled softly when he saw that the little girl had fallen asleep in Fred's arms. "She really is a sweet child," he remarked softly, reaching over to brush her hair back from her forehead. He felt bad for her, knowing that she was going to be losing her mum soon, but he knew that she was lucky to have such a wonderful woman as Fred there to take care of her.

Fred slowly nodded her head. "It's been a while since I've put a med kit together," she said with a small laugh. "It might be best if you put them together." She glanced down at Tabitha, smiling when she saw she was asleep. Fred then looked up at Carson again, and grinned. He was so good with Tabitha and she knew she could count on him to help.

Suddenly, there was a light knock on the door and Fred looked over to see Tess standing there. "Hey, Tess," she said as she shifted Tabitha in her arms and slowly stood.

"Oh, she's sleeping. Good," Tess said with a smile. "Was thinking I needed a nap."

Fred slipped Tabitha in Tess' arms and looked over at Carson. "Tess, this is Doctor Carson Beckett. He's the new head of the Emergency department," she said as she picked up Tabitha's bag and handed it over.

"It's nice to meet you, Doctor Beckett. I'm sure I'll be seeing more of you. This little one tends to get into things. A lot of cuts and bruises," she said with a small laugh.

"So how did things go with Doctor Waterson?" Fred asked.

"I'll have the results back tomorrow morning. He took me off one of my medications since it was making me tired," Tess said before she softly kissed the top of Tabitha's head. "I rather not sleep my last days away, you know."

Carson chuckled, giving Fred a small grin. "I could always give you a refresher course," he told her, wanting to lean over and kiss her again. He didn't want to bother Tabby, however, so he decided he'd do that later.

When Tess came in, Carson smiled softly and got up, reaching out to help steady Fred as she stood as well.

"It's good to meet you, Tess. Feel free to call on me any time," he told her. "Your daughter is an adorable wee thing."

Tess smiled and nodded before she answered Fred's question about her appointment with Doctor Waterson. Carson felt his heart go out to the woman. He remembered how his father had been as his illness had got worse before he had blended with Jarek. So many of the medicines her had tried over the years had caused tiredness too, and he had talked about not wanting to be unconscious as life passed by.

"I'm sure Tabby will be grateful for all the time she'll be able to spend with you too," he said softly.

Nodding, Tess looked down at her daughter. "I want her to remember me awake and playing with her. Not sick and hiding in bed." Looking back up at them, she gave them a half-smile before heading for the door. "Thank you again, Fred."

Once she had left, Carson turned to Fred and wrapped his arm around her before kissing her temple gently. "She's a very brave woman."

As Tess spoke, Fred felt her heart breaking. She was a doctor, yet she couldn't stop Tess from dying and leaving Tabby behind. How was she going to explain to the little girl why her mother was no longer there. Fred quietly said goodbye to Tess before turning to wrap her arms around Carson in a tight hug. She didn't say anything since she was sure he understood why she needed to be held at the moment.

After a few moments, Fred pulled back and gave him a small smile before softly kissing his lips. "How about we go fill up those med kits. And you can give me that refresher course," she said before leading him out of her office.

They walked down to closet where the med kits were located. Walking in, Fred waited until Carson was in and shut and locked the door behind them. She needed to be close to him, even if they really couldn't be together due to time. "We'll get the med kits together but first I want to make out with my adorable and sweet boyfriend," she murmured as she pulled him closer.

Wrapping her arms around his neck, Fred backed up until she was against the door. She then pressed herself against him and gave him a deep kiss.

Closing his eyes, Carson held Fred until she finally pulled back. When she suggested they go put the med kits together, he nodded and reached up to take her hand, kissing her knuckles gently. "Let's go then," he told her, following her out of the office and down to the closet.

Once they were inside, he found himself being pulled into Fred's arms. "Hmmm...I think I'd rather like making out with my beautiful girlfriend," he murmured against her lips.

Groaning softly, he reached up and cupped her face in his hands, shuddering a bit at the feel of her body against his, even if they didn't have time to really enjoy it. Running one hand down, though, he caressed his palm around the curve of her breast and down over her stomach.

"I can't until we get home later," he whispered. "I want so much to take my time and explore every inch of you."

Fred felt a thrill run through her body when Carson called her his girlfriend. Maybe it was a little girlish, but she didn’t care. Carson was one of the most wonderful men she had ever met. When she first came to Poseidon, and was the new female in medical, she had a few doctors ask her out but none of them ever interest her. She ended up ignoring the unwanted invitations and made most of her friends outside the medical department. Luka was the only one she actually cared about within the department.

That all changed when Carson showed up.

She shuddered as he ran his hand over her body and made his promise. With a small whine, Fred pulled back and looked at him, her face flushed. “God, Carson,” she muttered. “That’s all I’m going to think about while we’re on the mission. It’s not nice to tease, you know.” She gave him a quick kiss and pulled away.

Reaching over, Fred unlocked the door and opened it a crack so they wouldn’t be tempted to paw each other while getting the medical kits together. She then went over to the shelf and grabbed two empty medical kits. After setting them on the table, she opened them up and laughed when instructions fell out. “Medical kits for dummies,” she said, shaking her head. After a quick glance over the list, Fred nodded. “I’ll get the medicine and you can get the bandages and gauze.”

Fred reached into her pocket and pulled out a small key ring that contained several small crystals. She used one of them to open the medicine cabinet and started to grab what they needed. “Wanna hear something funny?” she asked as she came back over and started to put the medicine in the kits. “As you probably know I was on the committee that hired you. I really thought you were going to be an old man because you’ve accomplished so much. I was really surprised to see how young you were when I first saw you.” She softly laughed and blushed a little. “I was also enthralled by how handsome you were, too.”

She looked over at him and smiled before going over to another cabinet to get a few medical supplies. Soon, both kits were full so Fred zipped hers up and slung it over her shoulder. “Wanna head down to the locker rooms now and get changed?” she asked.

Carson felt bad when Fred pulled away. He hadn't meant to tease her, truly. He had just been caught up in the moment, something that he was finding very easy to do when it came to his beautiful girlfriend. She was right, however - they were about to go on a mission, and it was probably not a good idea to be distracted with other thoughts while they were helping out.

"I'm sorry, love," he told her before she opened the door. "I promise to be good."

Taking a deep breath, he straightened his uniform jacket and followed her to the shelf where the kits sat. "Bandages and gauze. Aye. Got it."

He moved over to one of the other shelves and started pulling down what they'd need while Fred got the medicine. He had just finished and was grabbing a few pieces of portable equipment when Fred started talking about how she had thought he was an old man before she had met him.

"An old man? I know I'm pushing forty, but really," he said with a laugh before shaking his head and blushing a little. "You really thought I was handsome? I remember looking at you and thinking you were the most beautiful woman I had ever seen. And then finding out how smart you were too..."

He coughed. "That probably makes me sound a bit like a prat," he said, rubbing the back of his neck. "But really...when I met you...I knew I'd never met any other woman quite as wonderful."

Once they had everything in their kits, Carson nodded, knowing that if they stayed in there much longer, he'd want to start kissing her again. "Let's go," he said as they headed down together. "Standard off-world kit for this?"

Smiling at Carson, Fred nodded and followed him out of the supply room. She closed the door behind them and fell in beside Carson. "Yeah. I think standard will work for this mission," she said as she shifted the medical kit on her shoulder. When they got to the locker rooms, she gave Carson a soft kiss before slipping into the woman's side.

She went to her locker and pulled out her off-world clothes and started to change. She was just pulling her shirt on when Allie came walking in. "Hey, Fred," she said with a smile as she went over to her own locker.

"Hey. So big mission, huh?" she asked as she pulled out her thigh holster and strapped it on.

"I hope so. I had to cancel my lunch plans for it. Hopefully the people taken from the Gemini Outpost are there, or Gibbs is going to be upset," Allie said as she started to change.

Nodding, Fred pulled her hair back into a ponytail and slipped her vest on. She had worked with Gibbs a couple of times since coming to the city, and she knew how he could be at times. "I'm sure they are. Jennifer's good at what she does," Fred said as she zipped up her vest.

"True," Allie said as she finished getting ready. She stood and followed Fred out to the main part of the locker rooms. "Have you heard the news? John and Jennifer finally got together."

Fred snorted and shook her head as she grabbed some bullets from the armory boxes. She put them in her vest pockets and looked at Allie. "About time," she said before they sat down on one of the benches to wait for the others to show.
