OK, so I've been talking about this with a few people and it's time to go public with the idea. I want to do a charity concert, a completely amazeballs one. I'm thinking a battle of the bands type of situation. Each act plays for a charity of their choice through fundraising events of their choice (performances, meet and greets, bake sales, car washes, auctions, date auctions, whatever gets you going) and tries to raise money for said charity. After a certain amount of time (I'm thinking no more than a week, just so it doesn't get dragged out), there is a 'final' show where each act performs and then the amount raised is announced.
I have decided that I am not going to be one of the acts per se (I may have already been convinced to do a duet or two though), BUT, I will personally match the donation for the 'winner's' charity. I would also like to open it up to other artists in the community and thought that at the final event we could display artwork, photography, maybe have some short monologues, or a comedy show or anything really. If you are interested, PLEASE contact me ASAP to coordinate a time that works for everyone who wants to be involved. I know it's short notice, but I was hoping to shoot for the end of the month. I am working out logistics like a venue, etc. so feel free to toss me some ideas! I am super excited about this guys, I hope it appeals to others too!
If this little rambling isn't enough to get people on board, I hope my pouty face works.
