some clarification
I got a question today and then I was explaining something about the battle elsewhere and so I thought this would be a good time to clarify a few things.

First of all, you can indeed write something for one of your own prompts. Or more than one of your prompts. Go wild!

Secondly, I realized that I was kind of assuming most people had played around in porn battles before. Having realized that I might be wrong there, I want to try to make the whole process a little more clear. Since everyone seems to have totally gotten the hang of leaving prompts--seriously, you people are great at that part!--I'll move on to the next part.

So Thursday comes along and you look over the list of prompts and see a couple you think you might want to pick up and try writing for. All you have to do is start writing; I usually cut and paste the ones that intrigue me into a document file and then start messing with them, but you can do it however you like. The important thing is that you don't have to claim a prompt anywhere. So if you grab ten prompts and only end up writing for three of them? That's fine and in fact, the only person who will know is you.

Of course you realize that this means no one has exclusive rights to any of the prompts. If five people see " Stargate: Atlantis, John/Ronon, skirts", like the prompt, and write for it, that's perfectly fine (no really, PERFECTLY FINE!).

I have no real idea how or why the first porn battle came about, but I've always thought of them as a way to take a break from writing more complicated fic or as a way to jump start your porny mojo or even as a way to play around in a new fandom--my first SGA fics were written for a porn battle, for example. So the idea here is to keep the whole thing as relaxed and pressure-free as possible.

And to have fun. Porny fun.
