Seventy-Two years ago, an alien spacecraft crashed in the New Mexico desert. From that point on, conspiracy theories defined the otherwise sleepy little town of Roswell. Was it real? Were there survivors? What is the government not telling the people? Everyone had an opinion, but the truth is classified information...
Fast forward to 1997. Three young children, naked and mute, wander into town where they are cared for by the state. No one comes forward to claim them, their identities are never truly known. Two of them are adopted together, the third is left behind in foster care. The three consider themselves siblings nonetheless. They go on to lead fairly normal, and anonymous, lives.
Jump forward another 22 years. One of the three, Max Evans, has the ability to heal others. He uses his power to resurrect Rosa Ortecho ten years after her untimely death. In doing so, he inadvertently ripped open a portal, and people from other worlds are falling through.
Those who know Max and his siblings are aliens knew they had to act fast. As soon as the first arrivals began to trickle in, those few informed people set up housing for the new arrivals. They've commandeered an old, abandoned UFO/alien themed hotel. New arrivals are given a room, and a backpack with a few supplies including an in-network ready device, a debit card loaded with $1000, a change of clothes that fits them, and a map of the city they now call home.
Those who are adventurous enough to try and leave Roswell will find the desert never ends. No matter how far they walk, even if they have a vehicle, or if they can fly, the desert goes on and on as if there is nothing beyond the dusty, dry land. Individuals who fall through the portal are stuck in Roswell until such time as they are sent back through. No one knows how it happens, no one knows why.
