Pain cramped her muscles, her scream jagged and broken. Maniacal laugher rang out around her.
“So young and tender,” a second voice growled as a hand slid up her arm. “No!” she screamed, sitting up to realize she was at home, in her own bed.
Strong arms, safe arms, encircled her from behind.
“Another nightmare?” Severus asked knowingly.
She nodded. It had been a decade since the war had ended. She had found love, unexpectedly, with the bravest man she knew. Her life was complete. Yet the nightmares continued.
