Remus wasn’t entirely sure what had possessed him to approach Severus in his own office. Yes, he’d want to know that his improvements to the new potion had worked, but he could’ve accomplished as much with a note. Still, he was here already, so he strapped a bit of steel to his spine and knocked.

“Enter!” Severus looked up from his marking. “Oh. You.” He returned his attention to the ink-spattered essay.

“Sorry to disturb you. I merely thought you’d wish to know that your improved potion worked without any of the side effects of last month’s.”

Severus continued his marking. Remus watched, fascinated by his single-mindedness and strangely un-bothered by his lack of response. It was just so … him.

Finally, Severus looked up. “You are still here? You have delivered your message. What more do you want?”

“That would take all afternoon,” Remus blurted before he could stop himself.

“I rather doubt it.” Severus raised an eyebrow.

Remus’ eyes attempted to jump out of his head. “Is that supposed to be an insult or a challenge?”

He’d rather like to take that challenge, he thought irrelevantly. Not that Severus would ever let him. Not so long as he maintained that the other night had never happened.

If this were a Muggle romance film, Remus supposed one or the other of them would make a move now. Perhaps he would lean over the desk, grab Severus’ face between his hands, and kiss some sense into him or some rot. Of course, if that could work, it would have on the tower the other night. He licked his lips at the memory and his cock twitched in sympathy.

“You may take it as you wish, so long as you leave.”

Carefully keeping his face blank, Remus turned and left, tossing over his shoulder, “See you at the Quidditch match.”

“Slytherin isn’t playing.”

Remus told himself he was absolutely not disappointed to hear that.

	Definitely not Quidditch anyway. That'd be the game when they traded with Hufflepuff because Draco was still milking the injured arm bit. (I've been seriously glued to both PoA and the Lexicon trying to figure out what-all else was going on around these two. lol) He is indeed stubborn and frustrating. sighs Thanks for reading and commenting!
