Between the fact it was the day before the full moon and the fact he’d had something like five hours of sleep over the past two days, Remus wasn’t entirely sure he wasn’t having some sort of relapse when Severus confronted him on the Astronomy Tower.

“What is your game, wolf?” he demanded, gripping Remus’ shoulders and shoving him against the rough stones.

The gap inches away wasn’t really large enough for Remus to fall through. They’d never let the students up here for classes if it were. The chill breeze coming through it added an edge of danger, however, that brought Moony closer to the fore than he had any right to be tonight, and Remus had to struggle to answer without literally growling.

“I’m not the one feeding people experimental potions with unexpected side effects, Severus,” he retorted. “And I’m not the one who let Sirius into the castle.”

A tirade, he might have expected. Even a snarl followed by a dramatic exit would have made sense. But nothing in Remus’ experience prepared him to have Severus reply by angrily, hungrily claiming his mouth and grinding their hips together. Still, it only took him a moment to surrender to it. Dream or not, he’d take whatever Severus was offering and enjoy it while it lasted.

Too soon it was over, both of them panting and leaning heavily against the stones for support. Severus swished his wand imperiously, presumably cleaning himself up though leaving Remus to handle himself.

“This never happened.” Severus turned to leave. “And whatever you’re up to, I will find out.”

The only thing that convinced Remus he hadn’t dreamed it all was the fact he actually had to walk down all the halls and stairways between the tower and his own quarters. Surely a dream would have let him simply wake up in his own bed.
