"Hmm... good question. First, we should eat lunch since we need energy to contemplate those lessons, and we need to eat regardless. Then, we can go to my room. Or the beach. Or anywhere else you want to go. I don't have any plans for the rest of the day. I... I know this is going to sound corny, but, I just want to spend time with you."
He laughed at himself. "And while I wouldn't say no to spending it in bed, I wouldn't say no to spending it doing anything else, either. Except shoe shopping. I hate shoe shopping, and I draw the line at it."
Give him credit for trying to lighten the situation.
Apparently the waiter decided they'd dawdled long enough, and returned to the table.
Drawn back to the present, Eddie smiled up at him. "I'll have the filet mignon and oysters. Medium rare on the steak, sour cream on the bake potato. Blue cheese dressing on the salad."
The waiter turned to Anne, and Eddie hid a grin wondering how she'd do with the change of topic.
