Brenna was bored.
She figured it was bound to happen sooner or later, especially as she was traveling alone. The lack of a companion meant she didn't have to wait and could take in the sites and sounds Athens offered at her own whirlwind pace. Museums. Tavernas. The Acropolis. Hadrian's Arch, Temple of Olympian Zeus and the Olympic stadium. The changing of the guards... Live music and ouzo tastings... Even a movie on the roof of the Cine Paris; thankfully, presented in English though there was the annoyance of flashing Greek subtitles.
What possibly could be left?
The young woman blew a puff of hair from her eyes as she watched the crowds of tourists saunter by over the rim of her glass. The Plaka Restaurant - or Plaka Taverna as it was displayed on the sign - sat along one of the busiest street in the neighborhood; just next to a bustling hostel that came with the obligatory mutt stretched out on the stoop. Brenna had been drawn in for a meal by the fair-haired host's promise of free wine, though she could hear the bribe echoing down the street from any number of restaurants. Oh well. Maximus had made good on the deal and the souvlaki was was some of the best she'd tasted so far...
Shrugging to herself, Brenna inched another piece of chicken off the skewer and was about to pop it into her mouth when goosebumps flared along the back of her neck. In the next instance, her chair was bumped by someone pulling out their own, causing her to jerk then turn around with a scowl to face the rude culprit. "Do you mind?"
