"I'm a little old for that. My life for the past five years has been an extended Gap Year," he replied with a twitch of his lips that might've been a grin. He pushed his bottle of water over to Ginny and catching the waitress's eye, he held the bottle up and indicated he wanted two more.
Even though there was only a handful of years difference between them, she seemed so much younger than his twenty six years. There was an... innocence about her, rosy colored glasses his mother would say. It was a bit refreshing actually.
"I'm here because I taped a map of the Mediterranean on the wall and threw a dart. I'd gotten tired of Cairo and needed a change so I left my next destination to a dart or fate, whatever you wanna call it. I've only been here a few days but...." He let the air in his lungs out through his nose and shook his head. "Athens seems so damn familiar. I feel... I feel like it's... home. More than New York had been and more than any of the other cities I've stayed in. I feel... like the last five years have been leading up to this point."
She would understand, he knew this in his gut which loosened his normally quiet tongue. Anyone else would look at him like he'd gone off his rocker but not her.
