Candy Canes-A Wilson Fic
This hit me around five in the morning to write as I saw a candy cane. What would it be like to eat a candy cane for the first time? We all have, but we surely don't remember it, because it was so long ago.
I hope my House, M.D. fans enjoy this, and anyone else who is in the Christmas spirit!
Wilson looked at the huge bowl of candy canes on the table that Cameron had put out. He turned around to make sure no one was looking and went into the conference room. In all his life, James Wilson had never had a candy cane.
Something had always told him no because he was Jewish. 'That's ridicules', he'd answer back. 'I can have any type of holiday candy I want.' But he'd always back down from the voice in his head telling him 'no'. Today, he'd have one.
He searched in the bowl trying to find a perfect, unbroken one. At last, he found one. The wrapping was perfect, as well was the candy cane. He laughed to himself, as if he stolen a priceless object. Wilson stepped out of the conference room and into his office. He locked the door, took off his lab coat, and sat down at his desk.
'What would be the best way to eat it?' he wondered. Should he suck on it until it sharpened into a point? Or should he bite bits and pieces off one by one until his teeth hurt? Or maybe he should start at the curve of the cane and put it in his mouth making his cheeks stick out. Wilson unwrapped the candy cane and tried all of these ways, thinking, “I wish I had gotten three.”
He was about to take another bite, when a knock came at his door. He put his candy cane on the desk and went to open the door. It was House.
“You knocked.”
“You locked your door, I had to.”
House walked over to the sofa and plopped down. Wilson went back to the desk and was about to pick up the candy cane when he noticed House's glare.
“I can't believe you.”
Wilson's mind pleaded that House wasn't mad about his heritage. “What did I do?”
“Candy cane? You're eating a candy cane in front of me and with me and my leg? You and Cameron...”
Wilson sighed with relief. “Sorry. I'll put it away.”
And he ate all of it later.
