Summary: It's their anniversary.
Note: Written for 12_stories at LJ.
Wilson peeked his head in House's office.
“House?” No House to be found.
Wilson looked in the conference room.
“House?” Wilson said in a sing-song voice. No House there either.
He went downstairs and looked in the clinic and Cuddy's office. Cuddy said she hadn't seen him since that morning, when she saw him struggling with a large box upstairs.
Wilson quirked a brow. “A box? With what in it?”
“I have no idea, but House trying to walk with a cane while dragging a box behind him was a sight to see.”
Wilson went to the labs and couldn't find House there either. He heard a noise in the hall closet and peeked in to find the janitor lining up bottles of cleaner.
Wilson went to the roof, to see if House went up there, and he finally found him. House was in the wind, on a blanket. Wilson walked closer to get a better look. On the blanket was a bottle of champagne, beer (obviously for House) and a few bags of chips picked up from the vending machine on the way. On the corner of the blanket was a box badly wrapped in Christmas wrapping paper.
Wilson sat down and looked at the box.
“House, it's not Christmas. It's April.”
“It was the only wrapping paper I could find in the apartment.”
“Old. No telling when the last time I actually wrapped a present was.” He pushed the box closer to Wilson. "Open it.”
“It's not my birthday, what is it?” Wilson asked as he unwrapped the sticky wrapping paper that had obviously sat in the closet too long.
“It's our anniversary, you moron!”
Wilson looked up from the box and slapped his head. Of course! This was why House was being so secretive. Wilson had forgotten and didn't even have a gift for House.
“Unwrap the damn gift. I spent an hour trying to find it and two wrapping it.” House took a swig of his beer and tapped the box. “I spent a fortune on it. You better like it.”
Wilson shrugged, tore the paper of and opened the box. Inside was two plastic guitars, some cords and a plastic case with 'Guitar Hero' on it.
“You pointed it out to me in a store one time. You said you wanted to try it, so I bought it.”
Wilson sat it shock. How did House remember that? It had been months ago when Wilson had seen it in the store. He pulled out a white guitar and pushed the buttons. “Thank you, House, how did you...How did you know that I wanted a video game instead of a tie or some other lame gift?”
“I wrote it down.”
“Oh.” He pulled out the black guitar and gave it to House.”You have to play with me.”
“Who else would play with you?”
Wilson grinned. “No one. Hey, can I have a beer instead of champagne? I'm not really in the mood.”
“Don't worry, it was cheap.” House handed Wilson a beer and the bottle opener.
Wilson opened his beer and took a swig. “Wanna go play?”
“We're at work. There's no XBox here.” House pressed the buttons of his guitar really fast as if he was playing a song. “Unless...You want to go home, play this, and give the me gift of sex?”
Wilson stood, picked up the box, and said,”Yes, I do. And it will be the best gift you've ever had.”
House grinned. “Awesome.”
