FAQNB: I am no longer moderating this community. If you have queries, contact someone listed as a maintainer on the profile page. If you're receiving spam, it is best to report the comment as spam to IJ. How do I search past updates? If you're looking for a specific celebrity (or a mod post) check out our memories. If you're looking for appearance specifics or character recommendations, check out our tags. Do I need to tag my entries? Yes, if the required tags have already been created. Most of the general appearance tags are already in use, along with many character tags, but if you need a tag that isn't available, a mod will create it for you at a later date. How do I tag my entries? Once you've posted your entry, click on the little TAG icon and it'll take you to a page where you can select from all the current community tags. Just click on the one you need. If you need more than one, hold down the Ctrl key while clicking on the ones you need. Why do some tags include years? You can only go back so far using tags. Because of this, some of the most popular tags have been divided into years. In this case, you only need to use the tag for the current year. How many tags can I use? We prefer you use no more than five character tags, but you may obviously use as many appearance tags as needed to describe the icons. Why didn't you tag my post with the character I suggested? We will only be tagging characters from major roleplaying fandoms (Harry Potter, Marvel, DC etc) and general character types (police, vampire, goth etc). What do you mean by 'PB' icon? PB icons are icons made for roleplaying purposes. Generally, they're textless and fairly straight-forward in terms of cropping and design. The emphasis is on the expression or mood, rather than on how many clever brushes and textures you can use. They are not bases and PB icon makers usually ask that you don't modify them without permission. Check the rules of the individual icon makers to see what they allow. What about icons that show spoilers? Don't use them as your example. And don't assume that just because something happened a week or two ago in your country, it's not a spoiler any more. Can I post icons from comics, cartoons or works of art? Sorry, but no. We'd prefer that all icons are made from photos or screen caps - in other words, real people, not artistic representations of people. Do icons need to focus on humans? Generally, yes. The exception would be a set of animals or objects that are highly relevant to roleplayers. The obvious example here would be owl icons for a Harry Potter RPG. Who do I credit? Please don't credit this community! When you follow the link in a post, it will take you to an icon maker's own community or journal. Usually, they'll have clear rules about how they want credit to be given. If you really can't find the rules, crediting by the icon maker's user name is usually a safe option. Who can join the community? Everyone! We're not at all elitist - our ideal would actually be to have every PB maker on GJ updating here :) Every member is given automatic access to posting, so you can begin updating straight away. If you're not an icon maker, you're still more than welcome to join - we'd love to have you here. May I post a request? No, sorry. We're not that sort of community. Can I post my icons here, rather than just linking? Sorry, but no. We ask that you simply link to your icons elsewhere. What form should my posts take? For ease of archival and to make things clearer for anyone looking for icons, we ask that you use the following template: Can I post links to all of the icons I've made so far? No. If you've just joined, we don't mind you updating with your most recent set, but apart from that, we do ask that you use the community as it's intended - an update community. HOWEVER! We have a growing list of community tag posts where new members are invited to post their past sets. Can I post an update of someone else's icons? Only with the explicit permission of the icon maker. We'd prefer makers to post their own updates where at all possible, though. My icons are friends-locked. Can I still post updates? Sure! What we ask, though, is that you indicate a post is friends-only when posting your link - just a "(friends only)" after the link itself would be perfect. I post my icons on another site. Can I still post updates? You're welcome to do so, but it's particularly important to mention if the post is friends-locked, as community members may not be members of the other site. How many updates can I make in an individual post? We'd prefer you made one post per update, as this is the best option for archival purposes. How many updates can I make each day? At this point in time, you can make as many posts as you like, as long as there is a different PB update in each post. (In other words, if you make two posts of Daniel Radcliffe icons in one day, we ask that you combine both posts in the one update post.) How do I show that I've made more icons of a certain person? As long as it's not on the same day, just make a new post. If you've updated your old icon post, instead of making a new one, it's worth indicating in your update post that you've added extra icons to an old post - something along the lines of "Daniel Radcliffe - added 444 icons". Do you have a minimum number of icons per update? Again, we're not restricting this at the moment. We do, however, ask that you use a bit of common sense. Only one icon? Not really what people are after ;) |
