At Pax Letale, an awakening has begun. As these gods rediscover themselves and each other, the seemingly invisible but ubiquitous management tracks each of them quite closely, and the very building itself seems to have an agenda of its own. And as the gods made humans in their own image - or humans made them in theirs - so will the the behavior of the people of Pax turn as dark as their deities. Blood, strife, sex, petty plots, torture - even murder will wind their ways into Pax Letale.

Game-wide events on the horizon!

Welcome, cats and kittens, to the beginning of Pax’s holiday season! After a month of relative rest, October will see the return of strange goings-on in the building, its tenants, and the world beyond. Some of these events will be outlined below, while the details of others will be relayed only to those brave enough to volunteer for the juiciest parts. Writers may volunteer as few or as many of their characters as they like, for one or more events; how involved you choose to get is up to you. There’s no cap on volunteers, so the more the merrier! With some notable exceptions (heavily group plot-oriented in nature), the details of these events will be up to you, the players. Feel free to use the prompts and timetable below to get a jump start on scenes, whether via thread or GDocs. We hope October will be a busy time for all of us!

Introducing... player rewards!

It’s hard to believe, but our little community is over a year old now, and slight speed bumps aside we’re still going strong.

As Pax Letale continues to grow, we feel it’s important to recognize that it’s the players who make a community successful. The consistent contributions of our dedicated writers have made this a wonderful place to play, a place we feel will only continue to attract more writers and generate even more exciting plot. We have big things in store, and we’re glad you’re all a part of it.

With that in mind, we’ve decided to bring in a way to tangibly reward those players who’ve stayed with us through thick and thin, and added their voices to the others in Pax for the longest amount of time.

Effective immediately, characters actively in game for six months will experience a strengthening of their abilities, pursuant to their increased communion with the deity they host. This is not to be used to gain new, discrete abilities; rather, it is a noticeable heightening of what they can already do. Substantial changes to the Abilities or Transformation sections of the application should be approved by the mods, then included in the posted app for your fellow writers to see.

Characters who remain actively in game for one year will be allowed to apply for a second supernatural ability. As with the first skill, this skill must relate directly to the deity in question and must be balanced in relation to the other powers in play. This ‘upgrade’ may serve to significantly enhance the skill already assigned, or may be a separate talent altogether. In either case, once the second ability is Mod Approved™, the Abilities section of the character’s application (and Transformation, if applicable) should be updated to reflect the change.

If your character has not been utilizing his/her abilities and at the anniversary date is granted a heightened or entirely new skill, you can use scenes and narrative to explore this major plot point to allow your character/s a chance to progress in this way, and to let the story flow naturally from that. One way of doing this could be to create a sort of in-game origin story, where the powers are awakened by a specific event or encounter. You could also choose a slower progression toward this goal: something unique to your character and his or her development. Characters whose dates fall close together can, if the writers so choose, experience such an event together. This is your chance to get creative, and to let your characters really take the spotlight!

Players reaching their six-month anniversary will be given a mod-run event (whether a group or individual scene will be up to the player) featuring the character of his/her choice, in which the character will be given a minor artifact possessed of a power specific to its owner. These objects may prove invaluable in trying times; ensure your characters use them wisely.

Players who reach their one-year anniversary in Pax, even if they do not have their original character still in play, will be similarly rewarded. A game-wide event will be held in their honor, wholly focused on whichever character s/he likes. Also, s/he will be given one pass on activity checks for each of his/her characters in play, able to be used any month s/he chooses.

Several characters and players have reached or are approaching their milestones. Those who have met their milestones will be contacted directly. Moving forward, anniversary announcements will be posted to the OOC forum, so keep an eye out! We look forward to seeing the results of these rewards, now and as we forge ahead. Hi everyone! As promised I am back among the living, now located in the Central [US] time zone. I really appreciate everyone's patience during this time of many, many transitions. Pax is at a crossroads now, and I think it's a very good and promising place to be. We have some exciting events planned, more lottery posts to look forward to, and hopefully soon, new players to woo!

To aid in all this, Saturday has stepped up to co-mod the community with me. Together we're working to streamline the community information, expand the available pantheons, and generally bring the community forward into a new era. Please welcome her! It'll certainly ease her mind after all the work I've thrown her way. ;)

Three things to know:
  • Pax Letale's questionable geography has been corrected, moving from beachless Anaheim to nearby Newport Beach. This does not affect any aspect of the building itself, and it shouldn't be so far as to interfere with characters' places of work and play.
  • All pantheons save monotheistic faiths (i.e. Islam, Judaism, and Christianity) will now be available for play. We expect all pantheons to be given the respect and thought they deserve; the listed religions are excluded for power balance reasons, not because they are given priority above any other.
  • Holds are currently closed, to reopen on May 15th. The game will reopen for play June 1st.
