I must admit, there is an element of judgement that must enter into any conversation about the relationship of the Chantry to the Circle. Magic itself is... a temptation, and a danger. It is a curse upon those who posess it, not merely because it puts lives at risk if they cannot learn to control it, but in a literal sense. The abuse of magic cast this world into sin, caused the Maker to doubt his children and forsake us.
Believe me, I could never claim to believe myself that any mage is corrupt by his very nature. I have known too many good mages, good people struggling against what their birth has dealt them and succeeding admirably. But I have also seen what happens when they are corrupted, and it is... monsterous.
