There was a lot about this place that Nyota was already falling in love with. The scenery was beautiful. The air was clean and wonderful. There was a peaceful feeling to being here that had made her feel better almost the moment she'd arrived. Seeing Jim and then Sulu had made it even better for her. It was nice to be among friends here. Among family, because that's what the Enterprise crew had become. After everything they'd been through, family was what they were. But then, as if all of that wasn't enough, she'd found out that Christine was here. Even that woman who'd snapped at her for, well, existing here, couldn't take away her joy at seeing Christine's smiling face and knowing that in just moments she'd actually be with her in person. Easily her best friend in Starfleet, save maybe the one she didn't want to think about, Nyota had missed Christine terribly. Having her here? Well, she couldn't imagine anything better. She chose not to focus on the uncertainty of her relationship with Spock or the petty jealousy from a complete stranger who she would happily avoid and instead thought about the good things. Christine topped that list and when she finally saw her friend in person, Nyota rushed forward to catch her up in an exuberant hug. It lasted several moments with they both talking at once and holding on for dear life. Eventually, she pulled back and squealed like a teenager as she got her first good look at the woman in front of her. "Oh, my god, you're huge!" she exclaimed. "Look at you! When did it happen? Tell me it's not Jim's, because then I will have to judge the hell out of you and go bitch slap him for not telling me he knocked you up. Do you know what you're having?" She was asking questions faster than Christine could possibly answer them, but it had been years. There was so much they needed to catch up on. |
