Paradiso

So a few things that I've been meaning to post.

1. The birth center is officially available for everyone's use. There are supplies in there including diapers, some blankets, the breast bump etc. The massage chair has been moved in there as well if you want to use it.

2. I'm thinking about starting childbirth classes if there is enough interest. I want to do two versions, one for people who aren't currently pregnant but might be considering it and want to learn more and the more traditional class for those that are pregnant. So let me know if you are interested.

3. Leonard and I are having a baby. We don't know if it's a boy or a girl yet but we're both too nosey not to find out so we'll keep you posted.

There is some kind of creature - a rodent, I believe - that has made its home on the roof of my shelter.

I'm happy to share that the island now has one new resident! Phillip James was born yesterday and both he and Natasha are doing well. Just check in with Nat or myself before stopping by in the next couple of days, just to make sure we're up for visitors. I freely admit to wanting to monopolize my son's time for a couple of days.

I woke up this morning to the sound and smell of rain and realized that besides that snow we had here a while back, I couldn't remember that last time experienced a natural rain shower. Though I guess one could argue that this might not be completely natural itself, seeing as how I bet Arva and the other gods are in complete control of the weather.

It is a marvelous feeling, the knowledge that life is growing inside of you. Truly. I didn't think this was something I would ever be fortunate enough to experience.

I've always had a sweet tooth, so it should be no surprise that I've been working on getting us all some chocolate. It's certainly not Cadbury by any stretch of the imagination, and it also isn't as sweet as some people might like. But I've always preferred bittersweet chocolate, so I don't mind. I've done up several "bars," of a sort, and dried them out in palms. I was hoping to crack open one or two tonight to see how it turned out. There's more than enough to share, if you're feeling adventurous. And have a sweet tooth like me, of course.

The dorm building is really nice, but I think I'm going to stick with my cave. I don't think it's a good idea for me to be in such close proximity to so many people.

Not sure what exactly I was expecting. But, this place is even better than that.

I don't usually wake up on the beach without having arrived by boat. The exception is when I had to swim to shore once and waste way too much perfectly good rum to be rescued. I'm glad to say I won't need a rescue here.

If you had asked me six months ago, I might have said that day after day in paradise might bore me. Nothing can be further from the truth.

However, I did spot what looked to be a small atoll off shore this morning and might venture a swim out to it. If anyone would to join me, it might be a nice adventure.

Jim and I gave Tiberius to Arva last night.

As you might imagine, I am... emotional. I will probably not leave my shelter much for the next few days. Please do not worry about me. I will be fine in time. You are welcome to visit if you wish, though I doubt I will be in much of a mood to play host.

This island reminds me of several past Games arenas, most notably the 54th Games where I lost both but her especially. However, I imagine that there's no worry here about mutts or traps or any gamemaker ... surprises. Unless, of course, this entire situation is some kind of test of the Capitol. If that's the case, I promise you I will come out on top.

Tiberius Crawley Kirk came into this world screaming this afternoon, as expected. He's got a lot to say, I can already tell.

Mary is doing well too, considering. Honestly, I don't know how you ladies do it.

Bones

Not a word about the name. Mary insisted. I think my mom would approve though.

Also, uh, thanks for being there through this today, Bones. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have survived without you.

Right, then. I need this baby to be born already. I'm the size of a house and I can hardly sleep because there is no comfortable position to do so in.

I'm going to take a walk. It will probably only stir him up and not help push him out, but it is currently more comfortable to walk than it is to sit.

Despite the fact that pregnancy is expedited on this island, I shall be quite glad when I have this baby and can go back to walking normally. I am starting to feel like a very fat penguin.

I found out today that Jim and I are having a boy.

It feels like this child - or rather, he - is continually doing somersaults in my stomach. I blame his father's genes entirely.
