The house seemed strangely quiet as Faith Cassidy curled up on the sofa, a large mug of green tea in her hands. Just across from her line of sight, she could see the mantelpiece, decorated with pictures of her and Paul. On holiday in the Caribbean, out to dinner with her parents and his. And in the center, the largest picture, of them two of them beamingly happy on their wedding day. It had been three years ago and she was still just as happy. And right now she was missing him painfully. It had already been a week and Paul was expected to be away for the rest of the month. Business in Japan. Hopefully this time it would be enough to be the break they needed to be rich, rich enough to really start on the family they both wanted.
Picking up the remote, Faith began idly flicking through the TV channels, trying to find something to hold her interest during the lonely evening. Usually she would have phoned her parents, chatted to them, but they were on vacation, to celebrate their 30th wedding anniversary. Three weeks in Australia. She was happy for them, but she couldn't deny how bored she was.
A show caught her interest, some blues music coming from the speakers. Two men were on the screen, the shorter one much cruder than the taller, who seemed to keep eying his companion with a mixture of fondness and exasperation. The info button told her it was Supernatural, something she'd heard vaguely about. Something about two brothers who hunted demons, it had never interested her. Demons, it all seemed so fantastical. Still, she was bored, so she kept watching.
There was something about the brothers that appealed to her. The earnest expression on Sam's face as he fought to free the victims from the demon deals. It felt as though she couldn't tear her gaze from the screen. She watched hypnotized as the brothers argued about the deals, talked of their father. It was compelling. And Faith couldn't help but wonder, what if it was all real, demons and deals. Would Paul sell his soul for her like that? She hoped not, but she suspected he might. He was so completely devoted in all other ways, he would probably go that far for her if he had to.
And then thoughts of her husband, her loving loyal husband, seemed to flee her mind as she was drawn again to the screen. Sam, staring at the door as the hellhounds tried to get in. Protecting the man while Dean tracked the demon. Running through the house. All the way to the final scene of the brothers, together in the car.
It all led her to one conclusion, Sam, or she supposed Jared Padaleki, was one of the best looking men she had ever seen. Her tea went cold, forgotten as she watched him. As soon as the credits rolled, she reached for the computer, clicking onto Amazon. For a show she had never seen before, it had somehow creeped into her mind, and she desperately wanted to see more of it. All of it in fact. Within a few clicks she had the DVD set of the first season ordered and she sat back, taking a sip of her tea before looking mildly disgusted at the coldness. Dragging herself from th sofa, she wandered to make a new cup, her mind still firmly on Sam Winchester.
