Even if she wasn't taking part in 'getting the information,' and only going with Lindsey to get the actual mystic, Clary was taking no chances. To say her arms were quickly looking like the Shadowhunters from back home was an understatement, she'd blend right in if she ever got home soon enough. She'd drawn runes for healing and agility on her arms, not thinking she was going to need much more. If she was going to be in an actual fight, maybe she'd arm herself some more. She didn't know much about Wolfram and Hart, so she might be a bit paranoid, but she also refused to track down some mystic without her seraph blade laced securely to her back. At least she had have something sharp to defend herself with if something went wrong.

Her Stele was tucked into her pocket, she never went anywhere without it now. After they had received the address for the mystic, she had agreed to go with Lindsey to help find him. There was no guarantee that he would even be at his house, and if that was the case, she could track him using his personal items. The past few days she basically done whatever had been asked of her by Cathy's husband. The redhead was determined to get her back.

So when she found herself outside and a short distance away from the house, Clary looked up at Lindsey with a questioning gaze. This was new to her, and he probably had some idea as to what he was doing. "What's the plan?" were they just going to knock? Break down the door? Break in quietly?

Since finding out that Cathy had been taken, Clary injured, and the Welcome Center trashed the day before, Lindsey had tried his best to keep a lid on the seething anger he felt towards Wolfram and Hart. Taking it out on them wouldn't help get his wife back now, but there was nothing that said he couldn't let loose when it came to the mystic they were tracking down. He sure as hell wasn't going to bribe him for the information.

The more he suffered, the better.

With Clary along for assistance, finding the place wasn't too hard. He stared at the house, waiting for some sign of movement or proof that someone was inside. It was possible that he had seen them coming and the last thing he wanted right now was to lead the young woman into a trap, or get his own ass trapped. That would've been entirely unhelpful.

"Go in quietly," he replied after a moment of giving the subject consideration. "As much as I'd like to kick his door in, no sense in giving him a head start." He glanced back at her. "Stay close, all right?" He looked down the street both ways before jogging off towards the house.

Nodding once, Clary followed as quickly and silently as she could, at a more of a run pace to make up for shorter strides. If he was in the house, which she doubted very much, Clary had no idea if Lindsey was just going to get his answers here or not. If that as the case, she'd be waiting patiently outside of the house, and would take a strong interest in whatever she could find out there, even if it was the grass.

The house looked ordinary enough, though that probably didn't mean much. Still, if there were protections there was a good chance she might be able to rip them down. There could be a door around back, but he had said to stay close, so that was what she was going to do.

She stuck close to the entrance to the house, and kept herself from peeking into the windows despite her curiosity. "If the doors locked I can open it." she said softly, before glancing over her shoulder to look around the area. Who would have known an evil mystic would live somewhere so...ordinary?

As they drew closer to the house, Lindsey realized too late that there could have been wards set up to alert the mystic to any arrivals. He hesitated on the sidewalk, putting a hand out to stop Clary from going further as he studied the building in front of them. It was still silent, still, and nothing out of the ordinary jumped out at him.

Looking back to Clary, he nodded. "I'll let you handle that. Probably take less time than picking the lock." A skill of his that had become rusty with a lack of use over the past couple of years.

He headed up to the front door, leaving room for Clary to work as he leaned over to peer just beyond the window's frame. The curtains were drawn tight but there was just enough of a slit to see the living room beyond, dark and unoccupied. Or someone was laying in wait. "I'll go in first," he told Clary, voice low. "If we tripped a ward, he might be looking to ambush. I don't want you hit."

As she approached the door, she took out her Stele, and the crouched down to the door. "Not if I kill the ward first." she said flatly. She had no idea if it would work. It her world she'd been able to make runes that couldn't be stopped in power. That didn't mean it would work here. But she could try. "Not guarantees this world will let it work, but I'll give it a shot." if she could hold an Angel captive, surly she could take apart some wards.

Well, hopefully anyway.

Her hand flew swiftly over the door, and then the door handle, the first rune an attempt to disable the wards, the second one to open the door. The stele moved across the surface, creating dark lines of the runes that started working once completed. The whole process just took a few seconds. She knew at least the the second one had worked by the 'click' she heard.

"Well, doors open." she said, standing back up and stepping back to let Lindsey go in first like he requested. With any luck the first one had worked. Maybe there wasn't a ward at all, or maybe they'd never find out if there was one.

Lindsey crouched down beside her, glancing over his shoulder towards the street and the surrounding neighborhood. His attention drifted back to what Clary was doing, slightly intrigued despite his anxiousness to get inside and find some answers. The magic she was working with was nothing like he'd seen before, and effective, if the door opening was any indication.

"Take all the shots you need. Something has to work," he murmured as he rose to his feet, pushing the door open to reveal the dim interior. He headed inside, alert for anything that might indicate there was someone inside. The house was just as silent as the outside had been, but tha didn't mean much.

The path he took went through the living room, into the kitchen, and then into the dining room to come back around in front of the staircase. Nothing, except the broom he'd picked up to use as a staff in case. "I don't think he's here," he told Clary as he started to climb the stairs, frustrated. This wasn't the end of the line but that meant more time would pass before they located Cathy. He swore softly under his breath. "He couldn't have gotten too far."

Planting herself at the door, she staid there while Lindsey went into the house. During the short time he was gone she looked around the darkened living room with mild interest. Some books were starting to draw her attention when she heard Lindsey come back, and she stopped herself from exploring.

He wasn't here, though that wasn't surprising. It did make sense for him to not stick around for a while. "No, he couldn't have." she agreed, following him up the stairs into the upper level of the house. And maybe with any luck, anything protecting him, or anything he might be shielding himself with wouldn't be that strong. Maybe he just wasn't shielding himself.

Clary walked past the rooms, just glancing into each of them until she walked past a bedroom. It looked like the master bedroom, based on the clothes that were left on the floor. Back stepping, she entered the room, and looked around carefully.

If she could only find the right bit of material.

Her eyes fell onto the dresser. On it, there was a hair brush. Smiling, she picked up the brush and held it infront of her. There were definitely hairs. "If he's not to guarded, I can track him." she said, raising her voice so Lindsey could hear here in whatever room he was looking at. Plucking a hair from the brush, she held it out infront of her. All it took was a bit of his hair to make a tracking rune possible.

Most of the guy's things were still laying around. No packed suitcases, messed up drawers, any indication that he had suddenly taken off. Maybe he had just run to the store for a few things. Didn't matter. Wherever he went, he was needed and tracking him down was first priority.

The last room yielding nothing, Lindsey backtracked to where he had heard Clary's voice come from, leaving the broom farther down the hallway now that it was unneccessary. He entered the room, glancing from the brush to her, nodding in approval.

"Please do," he replied, leaning against the dresser and crossing his arms. "Then I'll go and drag his ass back here." He had a few tricks up his sleeves and if he accidently hurt the guy, too bad. As long as he could talk, they could take him in any condition.

Pulling out her stele, she flipped open her other arm and exposed her wrist, the scar from the last time she used the stele now visible on the inside. Redrawing the rune, she pressed her lips together as the blink lines burned into her skin, the tracking symbol now looking like a brand new tattoo.

Once it was complete, she placed the strand of hair in her palm and closed her fingers around it. Breathing in, she closed her eyes and concentrated. For a moment she saw the room around her. Then the vision changed, moving out the door, down the stairs, and out of the house.

She paid close attention to as much as she could, until the view finally settled on a man sipping some kind of amber liquid at a bar. Eyes popping open, she looked around the room for something to write with. She managed to find a pen, and then used the back of some receipt left on the desk to write down address she had seen.

"He's in here." she stated, turning to hand over the paper. "It's a bar, live music. It looks like he's just settling in." at least she thought so, he didn't appear to be drunk yet, his clothes were still in order.

He caught himself wondering if that hurt and how much as he watched Clary trace the rune into her skin again. His own experience with the tattoos had been extremely painful but she barely flinched. Maybe the kid was tougher than he was. Silently, he waited for her to do what she needed, taking in the room.

Clothes thrown off into a chair, disheveled bed sheets, all masculine, no pictures. The guy was a bachelor, so there would be no loved ones that he knew of to threaten, which would make it harder. He'd have to make the pain really count. If it didn't work that way, there would be other avenues to explore.

He blinked, shaking off the thoughts as Clary held out a piece of paper. "You're amazing," he told her, eyeing the address. "That's not too far from here." The less distance he had to drag the mystic, the better. "Coming or staying here?" he asked as he headed to the door.

"I have my moments." she said with a satisfied grin. It was, without a doubt, nice to be making progress and being able to help out with that. She wasn't sure where the dwas. She could follow her map inside her mind, but without it she would be lost. Getting to know the different streets and places of LA was something she was still working on.

There was no way she was getting into a bar unless the bouncer was just completely stunned. She was barely over five feet and didn't look much older than her age- sixteen. "Doesn't matter. I can't go in there, but I could wait outside. Or I could stay here and step up some runes. It they're strong enough I might be able to keep him from pulling any mystical mojo on us while he's here."

Of course she didn't know that for a fact. Again, in a new world against new rules this was a learn as you go thing. Actually, this was where she's surrender to Magnus, the warlock she knew, and let him handle things. But she would do what she could.

"Keep it up." He tucked the paper in his pocket and hesitated outside the door. Focused on getting to the mystic, he'd forgotten that the man was in a bar. "I like the second option. This guy will probably be desperate enough to throw anything at us that he can to escape." A few years ago, that would've posed a problem for him. Now he was confident that he had enough training to take him.

"Anything is worth a try." Her magic, different as it might have been from this world's, had worked for them so far. Any added protections was just fine by him. Lindsey started to head down the stairs when another thought hit and he jogged back up to the room.

"If you could find some rope or duct tape, that'd be helpful." It had never occured to him to bring one or the other from the Center. Once they got him tied down, he could probably find whatever else he needed in the kitchen or the basement. Neccessity was the mother of invention. "I'll be back." With that said, he finally left.

Duct tape, or rope. She could do that. Maybe she could also invent a rune that let her see the magic this guy used, so she would know where to target her runes. She wasn't a witch. Her power came from the blood of Angels. The runes came from Angels. It dated back thousands of years, maybe that would give her an advantage.

When Lindsey left, she staid in the room for a moment, looking around. Well, if she was rope or duct tape, where would she be? After a moment, she tucked away her stele, and then headed down the stairs quickly.

The basement was her first thought. She'd find something to use. Rope or duct tape, the man was bound to have one of the two. She'd find it, and then set to working on seeing how to contain his magic. Pulling open a door, she found herself looking down the steps to the basement.

The sooner this was done, the sooner she could not be inside when Lindsey brought the guy back. It was a scene she didn't want to witness.
