With homework to be done, Clary had settled herself down into her room later afternoon to conquer the small pile of assignments. Extra candy from last night was in a small bowl beside her. If she didn't finish her homework on time, she could at least put herself into a sugar coma, you couldn't go wrong with one of those. Eventually her mind settled into a state that had her completely focused on her assignments, hardly noticing anything else, or how much time had passed. But what it seemed like in no time her 'finished' homework pile was much larger than her 'to do' list. She could probably call it a night sometime soon.

Glancing to her side, she saw the clear bowl with the clown that was trapped underneath it. The toy had stopped moving not that long ago. It appeard it was back to being a toy. At least that was what Clary hoped, because she didn't want to think of it as 'dead' from not being able to breath. What Clary should have done last night was gone to the toy store and watch Barbie and Ken fight about pointless things.

That was when she heard something outside in the main entrance. Her head snapped up from her desk. Then she heard the sound of something shattering, a scream, and something that was entirely not human, followed by an unknown male voice.

She didn't stop to think, her body just reacted. Snatching a seraph blade from beside her bed, and double checking for her stele in her pocket, Clary ran out the door. It was probably stupid for her to go out there alone, but someone might happen to Cathy, and Clary would never forgive herself if she didn't at least try.

How quickly she ran almost surprised herself, and soon she was skidding out into the main office. It looked like Cathy had put up some sort of fight. At least the front entrance was in a pretty rough state. Three demons with curled horns, and one man. His face she committed to memory. One of the demons had a woman- who could only be Cathy flung over his shoulder. She didn't appear to be moving. They had knocked her out some way. The crashing sound she had heard was probably the plant, the vast now shattered on the floor with a brown and green mess beside it.

Three demons. Could she take them? Well, she;d fought multiple demons before and survived, but that was once, and she had ended up captured during said fight. No, she wasn't the warrior Jace was, or any of the Lightwoods. She wasn't like her mother, or Luke. But she had been learning, practising, and she knew she had to try.

Only a few moments were taken to study the demons, though that didn't give her much. She couldn't learn anything about them, Cathy would be long gone by then if she even tried. God help her, she knew this wasn't going to go according to the awesome plan she had in her head. But Cathy was good to her, so she couldn't just let this happen. At least one of the bastards had to feel some sort of pain. And then she knew others would come, find this mess, track down these people, and then they would really pay.

People in LA didn't seem very forgiving when someone they love was taken. Revenge seemed to be a favored dish.

Darting forward, apparently they had noticed her, or at least known she was there. The first attack from the demon closest to her she managed to dodge. Clary let her reflexes and instincts take over- they had managed to get her through multiple demon attacks so far. She was smaller than these things, faster, so that was an advantage. And using that advantage, she managed to duck under the demons arms, and the slam her blade upward, directly into the demons throat.

From behind, another one grabbed her. Losing her grip on her sword, she literally picked up into the air, and found herself face to face with another one of the demons. Then she was flying. Or would might have felt like flying if she was able to do such a stunt on her own. Clary crashed head first into a wall, knocking over a table and lamp as she went.

Her vision blackened as a sharp pain went through her head. For a moment she couldn't move, but she heard footsteps going toward her. "Leave the girl!" she heard the human voice say. Maybe he thought she was dead, or that she wouldn't remember, or that she would die before anyone came here. Either way, the footsteps she heard coming toward her started to head in the opposite direction. When she opened her eyes, she could only make out the blurry outline of the demon walk away, dragging the other demon corpse with it.

Willing herself to move didn't seem to be working. She could feel something warm moving down her forehead. How had the demons even entered? Cathy had said there were protections. No one should have been able to pull that off. What happened to the magic? What happened to Cathy?.

She tried to make herself get to her feet one last time before reality was lost to her and her world went black.
